Nurses play a significant role in promoting health in society. They are knowledgeable in
various health-promoting undertakings such as healthy eating habits, stress management,
maintaining healthy relationships, and self-care. To ensure valid health promotion, therefore, a
good relationship among the health promotion family is vital. This paper hence focuses on the
importance of collaboration among the health promotion family and describes the challenges that
nurses face in their workplaces and the possible solutions to those challenges.
Collaboration and its Importance in Nursing Practice
Collaboration is a process whereby two or more people or an institution form a
partnership and work together towards achieving a common goal. A successful collaboration
process requires people to work together as a team and join efforts to complete the desired task
or accomplish a set goal.
Collaboration in nursing practice boosts the quality of health that is provided to the
people. Communication among the medical staff helps avoid the unnecessary medical errors that
occur while health specialists are administering health care services to the patients (Sullivan,
Kiovsky, et al., 2015). Therefore, working in partnership with the community, the health
organization, and health caregivers is very vital to ensure that quality health is promoted.
In addition, the practice of collaboration in health promotion family promotes
competency. Roles and responsibilities are shared among the nursing team according to the
individual's area of specialization. Collaboration practice also involves involving the community
in the designing, implementing, and evaluating practices of the healthcare projects being carried
out in the community.
