ABSTRACT
In the modern times, there are several issues related with
the fitness trackers, like the device usability, that restricts
the large scale application of the devices. Other associated
researches are restricted in the relation of sample size as
well as the evaluation methods. The main intention of this
study is evaluation of the understood usability of the
various mainstream fitness trackers that are available in the
market and also study the user feedback on the preferences
of the features for each of the devices. The trial use of the
daily health trackers followed by the study of survey has
been applied. Particularly, the questionnaire has been
developed for the study that includes the user preferences
and the device usability. The health trackers could also be
referred as the fitness trackers, are the application or any
device that could be used for efficient monitoring as well as
tracking of metrics that are associated with the fitness of
individuals such as the distance that has been run or walked
by the individual, consumption of calorie along with the
heartbeat.

INTRODUCTION
The health trackers that are provided with significantly
advanced features represents one of the latest directions in
the development of hardware. Any health tracker is mainly
referred to wearable micro-electronic device that does not
effect daily actions of any user while efficiently observing
some of the particular metrics of significant interest and
provide effective therapeutics. Using the embedded
electronics as well as any software application, like the
computer chips as well as liquid crystal display screens, the
daily fitness trackers activates the innovative features like
the collection of user condition, the real time support of
information as well as the cloud interaction. Wearable
computers such as the wearable wireless cameras as well as
digital pacemakers has been presently introduced in the
market to common people. The main development of the
wearable devices has been closely associated with the
pervasive computing, networking technologies as well as
the wearable computers. The pervasive computing enables
the information gathering as well as the processing any
time, any place as well as any manner. The networking
mainly denotes to network connection using the embedded
electronics, software, sensors as well as the linked physical
devices as well as the cars that have been linked with the
network for allowing the data collection as well as
exchange in network. The wearable devices are the result
from the technological advances in the hardware
performance as well as the computational theory with
various innovative user interactions, the computational
speeds as well as the content support.
DISCUSSION
Product description
It could be considered that the health trackers have
significantly high capability for the health monitoring and it
is being vastly investigated [1]. As common tool, the proper
utilisation of the wearable devices in the fitness as well as
the medical application is swiftly increasing. These
particular devices could be effectively used for monitoring
the vital signs such as motion, the nutrition status, and the
heart rate. It also helps in keeping track of all the daily
activities that are done by the users [2]. It has been analysed
that the wearable medical technology might help in
significantly improving curative effect for the patients, help
in reducing the physician time as well as lower the medical
costs, presenting the future trends of any precise
personalised medical treatment [3]. The appropriate
technologies like the smart wearable devices, daily health
tracker might be able to generate unprecedented
opportunities for the providers of medical as well as the
health care services for obtaining precise real time data that
might be helpful in preventing, diagnosing as well as
treating several chronic diseases in significantly economical
manner [4]. The recent studies were able to express various
concerns regarding the long-term utilisation of the wearable
devices, focussing on the requirement of combining the
behavioural change methods like target setting, feedback as
well as the rewards with various other evidence founded
methods for using them efficiently in prompting the
changes in behaviour [5]. Moreover, the acceptance of the
consumers of the wearable devices is not observed as
positive as it was predicted. Several crucial concerns that
might affect the ultimate acceptance of the health trackers
by the customers are being inspected, that includes
reliability as well as the validity of measures that are
monitored using the devices [6]. Additionally, several
studies have established that key to the achievement of any
product is acceptance of the wearable products by the
ordinary customers as well as the level of comfort of the
products, the product usability is the crucial aspect of
measuring the usability [7].

Usability evaluation
It has been considered that usability mainly denotes to the
efficiency, the effectiveness as well as the user satisfaction
rating of any product in any particular environment by any
particular user for any particular intention. It mainly
includes the three prospects, namely the completeness of
any goal, effectiveness as well as the accuracy that could be
achieved by any product. The usability evaluation and the
test intends to make the fitness tracker significantly easier,
increasingly effective, safer as well as pleasant for the
users. The usability evaluation mainly assists the wearable
devices in satisfying all the requirements of consumers as
well as the markets. In the conventional studies of usability
evaluation, the thematic analysis founded on the heuristic
evaluation, cognitive walkthroughs, as well as the
interviews could be used and then the results gained from
the evaluation is analysed. Even though these particular
methods were significantly popular, they possesses
significant limitations due to the fact that the results gained
in any laboratory environment could be considered as
difficult in interpreting as well as translating into proper
practice. For gaining accurate results of the evaluation, the
utilisation of questionnaires is done in this evaluation study.
It has been vastly accepted by the medical informatics as
well as the informatics researchers working in the sector of
consumer health and it is vastly functional in the electronic
medical records, the computerised physician order entry as
well as several other health applications. The common
scales of questionnaire includes the System usability scale,
the ages as well as stages questionnaire, and the computer
system usability questionnaire. The research constantly
recognised that the evaluation of usability as well as
resulting improvements in the usability of the wearable
devices are mainly critical to wide as well as swift adoption
of the wearable devices.
Selection of product
The selection of device was done on the basis of the data of
performance in open market as well as the canalys. The
inclusion conditions for the wearable activity trackers
mainly included the constant monitoring of several kind of
physical action, as well as the provision of accurate
feedback through any separate mobile devices or even any
personal computer [8]. It was considered any device to be
health tracker if it had included an accelerometer, it could
be connected easily on any mobile platform [9]. It was
required that the device should easily connect wirelessly
with any desktop or handheld computers and it should be
compatible with platforms of Android and iOS [10].
Questionnaire selection
The aspect of usability mainly denotes to efficiency,
effectiveness as well as the rating of user satisfaction of any
merchandise in any particular situation by any particular
user for any particular intention. The SUS has been chosen
in this evaluation as the tool of usability test. It could be
described as the scale that is founded on any questionnaire
and it has been vastly adopted in the usability evaluation of
products. The main advantages of SUS could be considered
as the versatility and could be used evaluation of websites,
mobile devices, software as well as the medical systems. It
could be considered as the short questionnaire that could be
quickly answered and the ultimate score is generated with
the interpretation built on the well-established standard of
reference. These questions are remotely associated and
could be easily employed for executing the complete
evaluation of any product. The higher SUS score denotes
enhanced product usability. The distribution of the
questionnaire was done and then the collection of the
results was done that satisfied all requirements of
questionnaire required in this particular research.
Statistical analysis
For executing the descriptive statistical analysis, the simple
information regarding respondents has been gathered, that
includes the education, gender, age, monthly income, as
well as the profession. Then all the attributes of the product
as well as the particular functions has been summarised for
the daily health trackers. At last, SUS score for daily health
trackers that was used by respondents has been calculated.
To execute the inferential statistical analysis, relationships
among SUS scores as well as the attributes of the products
has been evaluated with the help of Pearson product
moment correlation as well as the Spearman ran correlation.
Correlations among SUS scores as well as functions of the
product has been analysed with the help of point-biserial
correlation.
RESULTS
From the evaluation conducted of the health trackers, it
could be observed that majority of the participants find the
devices significantly user-friendly and efficient. From the
survey conducted of the participants, it could be observed
that majority of the users were female and significantly less
amount of male users use the health trackers. The devices
are mostly popular among the female section of the survey.
The majority of the people who use the health trackers
belongs to the adult section. Almost 56% of the participants
belonged to the adult age group. When the participants were
asked about their views regarding the ability of the devices
of capturing the real-time data, it could be observed that
almost 68% of the participants gave positive response to
this aspect of the health trackers. When the participants
were asked of availability of proper sized display of the
devices, 62.5% of the people agree with the fact that the
devices provides proper sized display. It could be observed
from the survey that the devices provides the consumer
with various kinds of features with 52% of participants in
the favour of this fact. It could also be observed from the
survey that the participants agrees with the fact that the
devices syncs properly with the mobiles and other devices
using Bluetooth efficiently. Some of the users claimed that
the devices do not properly syncs when it is connected with
the Bluetooth of mobile phones and computers. When
asked regarding the fact whether the devices provides
accurate display for each clicks then the response came in
