Answer 1:
The quality and safety program is an approach for better quality improvement as well as the
medical safety. They ensure participation of the service chiefs as well as the clinical staff in
development, reporting post monitoring and improvement of the activities that are linked to
the clinical pathways and the guidelines. They maintain as well as foster collaborative
relationships with the external agencies, stakeholders and other purchasers. They also ensure
monitoring of the activities and also ensure its compliance with the policies as well as the
government legislation.
The local innovative quality indicators can be implemented and at frequent intervals the
audits should be carried out to ensure that the implementation has been successfully executed
and is in effective practice. Implementation of patient care and educating the hospital staffs to
ensure implementation of the best practices and procedures are executed (Sarangi, 2010).

The significant changes involve initiation as well as overseeing the development of the
comprehensive quality performance improvement which ensures tracking of the nationally
accepted as well as the locally developed innovative quality indicators for Children’s
Hospital. There should be patient safety initiatives taken in accordance with the national
guidelines. Supervising the clinical nurses as well as the physician educators in relation to
educate their colleagues regarding the best practices, the policies as well as the procedures
exploited and the clinical pathway. The teams will be redesigned in order to facilitate the
efficient flow within the system and the efficient patient care. Ensuring the review of the
incident reports and to identify as well as analyze the root cause of the challenges faced for
addressing the system issues.

These changes are indeed attractive and if successfully implemented would aid in helping in
maintaining the standards and delivering the help required for the health compromised
children who visit the hospital.

The significant changes in this iteration observed was that revising the policies and the
procedures of the hospital that is related to the quality improvement and the medical safety.
Dr. McLaughlin would ensure supervising of the quality managers review the incidents and
monitor the same and perform routine audits of the task. They should also assess the effect of
the CPOE on providing the children care and to ensure maximization of the safety
implementation potential.
Dr. McLaughlin has requested the above changes in the hospital to maintain and sustain the
necessary standards of the Children Hospital. The audits would also ensure that the policies
has been successfully implemented among the staffs. This would aid in delivering a better
service to the children.
Answer 4:
The duties that are of interest is the initiation of the quality improvement development
program which would track the innovative locally developed qualities as well as the
nationally accepted quality indicator because would ensure quality deliverance and hence,
impact the revenue as well.
The implementation of the patient safety initiatives is also of interest because the comfort of
the patent as well as their safety should be the prime concern and taking care of these would
ensure that there is reduction in the chances of accidents that might occur due to negligence
(Chambers et al., 2012).

Ensure proper supervising of the educators in the nursing and the physician department so the
staffs are educated to provide the best practices, policies, pathways and the clinical
procedures as well. This is another case which would impact in providing quality work and

revenue as well.
