INTRODUCTION
Business plan is a document which consist of future objective of business and various
strategies in order to achieve them. The study will focus on planning, implementation, reviewing
and monitoring of activities that should be included in order to provide better treatment to the
patient of dementia.

SUMMARY OF CHANGE AND DEVELOPMENT
Dementia is decline in mental ability of patient to interfere with daily life. It is the
condition characterised by weakening of at least two brain functions like memory loss and
judgement (Birks and Harvey, 2018). Organising daily activities for patients suffering from
Dementia is important to manage appropriate care. Involvement in activities helps in
encouraging patient inclusion which boost recovery of individuals apart from medication. The
carehome will take the proper measure in order to make changes in its working process so that a
better treatment is provided to the patients of Dementia. The daily activities which will be
implemented in care home comprise cognitive behaviour therapy in which singfit which is a
home music therapy will be used as music helps in boosting mood and it is proved more
effective than the medication, social inclusion and interactions. Singfit is a type of activity which
helps in improving speech as well as elevating mood of an individual. The carehome will try to
engage person in such activities which will help the patient in a recovery process.
The employees of the carehome will try to make people to do work in a simple step
means to break the activities into simple small steps. A proper connection will be made with the
people suffering from dementia it can be done by making an individual involved in the activity
(Livingston and et.al., 2017). For example, suppose when an individual is asked that can they
make a card it is possible that a person give negative reply but if the person was asked for
making the invitation card and need their help it might be possible that person will enjoy the
company and agree to work therefore the patient should be convinced to take part in activities.
Carrion C. and et.al., 2018 has conducted a research in order to find the scientific
evidence of cognitive therapy in order to treat people suffering from dementia. In order to do so a

various studies were made on the bibliographic database. As a result it was found that skills
training and mixed trials create a positive impact on the patients health.
According to Nora Bryant Veblen, 2018, music therapist provide live music to the clients.
The purpose behind the study is to investigate the perceptions about music therapy and various
practices with regard to musical authenticity. descriptive surveys are held in order to find the
perception of musical therapist. As a result it was found that music therapists will be benefit if
additional training is provided.
However it can be said that music therapy can be a great technique which can be
used in order to treat patient with dementia.

Need and benefit analysis
Dementia is a medical condition where patient need extra care because they face many
problems in performing their routine activities. Therefore, the carehome will make changes such
as doctors within the carehome will properly analyse the individual health and will accordingly
provide treatment to the patient (What is dementia?, 2019).
Need
 The carehome need change in the treatment process in order to fast recover of the patient
suffering from dementia.
 Music therapy( karoke ) will help to improve the patient health as music helps to reduce
stress, reduce agitation and boost mood.
 For service user is necessary to encourage inclusion of patients in treatment planning.
The early diagnosis of the disease is better as it will avoid to cause thinking and memory
problem. If the proper treatment is provided at an early age than it can be cured at early stages.
Benefit
Elizabeht Lokon, Philip E Sauer, Yue Li. 2016 performed a study in order to compare
the 5 activities and its impact on the people suffering form dementia. The main activity which
will be use in order to treat patient with dementia will be music therapy and the other activities
which will be performed are creative activities, opening mind through art, non creative activities
and no activities at all. There was no one activity was found superior. According to the study

regardless of the type of activity almost every activity helps in well-being and these activities are
specially designed for the people who are suffering from dementia.
However it can be said that music has a unique ability of regain memory and emotions.
The listening of voice of loved ones by the patient will be helpful for them.
Music is a good tool in order to treat the patient with dementia. It enhance sleep and also
is useful in managing stress. The therapy helps in promoting concentration. Usually the patient
with dementia feel frustrated or sometimes overwhelmed and they face difficulty in
communicating also but with the help of music therapy this can be mitigated and results in fast
recovery of patients.
Music therapy has been proved beneficial for centuries in order to relieve stress. Therefore it can
be said that music therapy will be of great use in order to treat patient with dementia.
Ethical and legal consideration
Ethical consideration
It is necessary for the carehome to be autonomous means the patient hold the right to
have control over their body means the patient will be given proper information on the treatment
provided to them (Stolt, and et.al., 2018). Secondly the carehome will try to give as much benefit
as they can provide to the patient in each situation. The carehome will try to maintain high level
skill and knowledge within the carehome T in order to provide best services to the patient
(Salzmann‐Erikson, 2018).
Non maleficence: The carehome will try to make the possible changes in its treatment process
which benefit patient but it will not cause harm to them. The carehome will ensure that the
society is not harmed by the decision taken.
Beneficence : The carehome will ensure that the practice performed by the nurses are good for
the patients. Means the nurses should do what is best for the patient.
Justice: Each and every patient will be provided with the equal resources and the medical
practitioner will ensure to follow laws and regulation while making choice.
Legal consideration
The carehome will comply to policies and practices of Care Quality Commission to
monitors, inspects and regulate daily activity planning of care home. The CQC is done in order
to find out that whether the owner is able to pass the following passing criteria i.e., capability,
financial standing, physical and mental health, qualification. The commission is regulated by

Health and Social Care Act 2008 which carries the power to regulate health and social services
of adult in England. By considering all the standard of the CQC, carehome will provide safety to
its patients as well as people working under them. The doctors or anyone who are working for
the company will be given permission for the company (Klimova, Valis and Kuca, 2017).
According to CQC, the changes made by the carehome in order to carry music therpay for the
patient suffering from dementia is that the change planned will not affect the culture within the
services it means that services provided will be open and honest.
PHYSICAL AND HUMAN RESOURCES
Human Resources
A 50 employees are needed in order to take care of the patient and manage different departments.
There will be 10 professionals who will treat the patient, 20 will be the working staff including
care takers, nurses etc., 10 persons will plan the activities for the patient and will try that every
patient should be involved and 10 will be the cleaning staff in order to provide proper hygienic
environment to the patients. A proper training will be provided to them that how to treat the
patients . A regular meeting of staff will be held.
In order to treat patient the help of guardians will also be taken. In order to know about
the exact problem the patient is facing and which will give a clear idea that what type of
treatment will be best for the patient.
Physical Resources
The carehome in order to perform music therapy will require a karoke machine so a patient can
sing along with the tunes. Various other social activities such as art and craft, music etc the
proper music instrument, various type of art and craft tools such as paper, tapes, pencil, etc .,
will be required. A reminiscence therapy will also help in improving the health of the patient in
order to provide reminiscence therapy a patient need rummage boxes, music instruments.
WAYS TO IMPLEMENT BUSINESS PLAN
The carehome has set a plan which is realistic. The main objective of the care home is to
provide proper care and treatment to the patients. In order to provide better care services, the
organisation will recruit professionals. Further, management of care home will focus on
organising training of other staff such as nurses, care taker, etc. (Burckhardt and et.al., 2016.).
The care to patient is given as per the care plan.

In order to implement activities such as music therapy a professional will be assigned in
order to provide therapy to the patients. Here the music therapy means that the patient will be
provided a music such as slow and fast music, slow. Right music played in the background while
doing daily activities will result in good response and behaviour(Dementia- symptoms,
Diagnosis, Causes, Treatment, 2019).
The second activity which the carehome will implement is to provide noise free
environment to the patient. In order to implement this the organisation will try to make less use
of objects or they might hide the object which can prove threat to safety such as knives, screws,
car keys etc.
Outcomes : By performing the activities as per decided above will help the nurses and other
professionals to measure improvement in patient health. It can be measured by seeing that is the
patient is now able to recognize the things. Music therapy will be helpful in reliving the stress in
the patient.
Monitoring and reviewing : The improvement of health in patient as well as change make in
the treatment process should be regularly evaluated to see the success of the plan. Changes
should be made as and when required in the plan.
As an operational manager the weak area in the organisation which need to be improved
is team within the organisation. However collaborative style of leadership within the
organisation has been proved good in order to treat patient with dementia. As all the employees
in the organisation are working toward common goal i.e, to provide better environment to the
patients. But in order to introduce new type of treatment i.e, karoke treatment a management
need to motivate their employees to work more with a sense of responsibility. As it a duty of the
employees including nurses and doctors to provide care to patients. Therefore it is very necessary
that all the staff members should work collaboratively with each other to provide better treatment
to the patient.
Secondly organisation with the application of Tuckman theory the team within the
organisation can be improved. The employees within the organisation needs to develop relation
with each other so they can collaboratively work in order to provide better treatment to the
patients. Operational manager should try to share the necessary information to all team
members.

CONCLUSION
The study helps in giving an understanding of dementia. It helps to analyse the various
activities which should be performed to treat patient of dementia. An extra care is required in
order to treat the patient suffering from dementia. Therefore study helps in understanding of
various activities such as cognitive behavioural therapy, physical exercise etc, in order to treat
patient. The study helps in understand that how the music therapy can be helpful in the treatment
of dementia.
