An action plan to develop healthy ageing strategy and reduce inequalities will contribute to the
realisation of the Sustainable Development Goals. Explain this statement and critically evaluate
global efforts to improve the experience of ageing around the world
Answer
Healthy ageing strategy: Healthy ageing is defined as the process that is related to optimizing
the opportunity to maintain as well as improving physical and mental health, quality of life and
independence throughout the life course. It also related to developing and maintaining functional
abilities that helped an individual in older age (Michel, and Sadana, 2017). Healthy ageing
strategy is related to developing the vision with the objective of older people live well and get
respect in the end stage of their life. Strategies are eat smart, stress less, stay connected with
others.
Concept of inequality: Inequality is defined as the enhances the quality of life through
being unequal on the bases of income gap, age, gender, social class and colour. It is important to
treat every one with equality and provide them equal rights.
Sustainable Development Goals: Sustainable Development Goals also known as the global
goals. These are considered as the universal call to take actions with the objective of end poverty,
protect planet and make sure that people enjoy peace and prosperity and enhance well-being of
life.
Action plan
It is important to take actions for ageing population that contribute in attaining the vision
of long living and healthy living of ageing people. It is done through developing age-
friendly environment, aligning health systems as per requirement of older population,
develop sustainable and equitable system that provides effective care to old people. All
these actions are contributed towards achieving sustainable development goals.
It is essential to implement nationally suitable and appropriate social protection system
and measure its effectiveness after specific period of time (Rudnicka, and et. al., 2020).
Along with the improvement in retirement security, develop laws to that provide equal
