• It will compare the findings with the current practice
• It will also discuss the trends associated with alcohol and
other drug (AOD) and sources of information used for
researching

Different reasons to research high rates of drugs
and alcohol abuse in rural areas
• The significant reason is to understand the reasons for
AOD misuse in rural areas
• To identify the population involved in AOD misuse
• To determine effective intervention strategies to reduce or
eliminate AOD use
• To understand the effectiveness of such intervention
strategies
• To get relevant information regarding AOD abuse and
interventions

Comparing findings with practice
• As per the findings, 47% of the Australian agencies use different strategies to
minimize AOD misuse (Hughes, Sheehan and Evans, 2018)
• The findings suggest that 63% of the young adults in Australian rural areas
are exposed to AOD use
• It is found that the agency must use different intervention strategies to
minimize AOD related crimes
• As compared to the findings Australian agency must use Emotional Regulation
to intervention to reduce or alleviate AOD misuse
• It will help in promoting self-awareness and understanding the addictive
behaviour of the individuals
