Take three (3) to five (5) minutes to write out everything causing or has caused you stress in
the work place at the moment.
Include personal stressors that may be impacting on your work.
Don’t censor your thoughts. Just let them flow as they come to mind.
Don’t stop writing until your time is up. Not focusing on your thoughts will allow more to be
listed.
Include your feelings and anything you are doing at the moment to relieve your stress.
I work as an enrolled nursing student in aged care placement. I have two kids at
home and living in a joint family. I am a part of nursing team with senior registered nurses
supervising me. The major barrier that I face every day are deviated mindsets of the other
nursing professionals who conflict my opinions and strategies in a great way. This causes a
lot of pressure and to bring them in line with proposed and planned ideas takes a great
deal of input that is at times stressful. Non- cooperation from my senior supervisors in
addition to non-compliance of my other nursing professionals are very pressurizing and
this causes a lot of extra stress in a daily work place scenario. My personal stressors a
team disruption, non-cooperation and lack of understanding from my peers and I have
been focussing on reflective practices and introspection to solve the stressful situations. In
the personal improvement session, I was told to work on emotional intelligence which I
have been doing lately and self-monitoring is the tool that has proved greatly efficient for
me in the recent months. With self-monitoring and reflective practices, I have found new
ways of dealing with the stressful situations and with effective communication tool – I have
been finally been able to handle the communication gaps between me and my peers.
Overall, with self-management strategies and the emotional management, I am finding
efficient ways to calm myself and nevertheless, I believe it is very important and critical to
know your own self more and more deeply and this realization helped me a lot to actualize
about myself which is an important method to eliminate stress influences in and from life.
2. Make a list
Looking at your brainstorming session, make a list of the things that are causing you
stress.
Use this exercise to start organizing your stressors. (Don’t become overwhelmed as just
writing things down can help reduce stress).
There is no need to put these in any particular order.
As mentioned above – there are a lot of stressors which are as follows:-1.social anxiety, 2.
General anxiety 3. Unemployed brother 4. Sick father 5. Workplace disruption 6. Non-

cooperation from team mates, 7. Lack of respect 8.colleague disruptive behavior. 9. Non
acknowledgement of actions by others. 10. Financial challenges.
11. work performance pressure
3. Organise stressor as big or small
From your list, have a good look at the stressor and place it in the appropriate column.
Don’t avoid looking at these issues. The stronger the need to avoid the closer you need to look.
