Abstract
The research paper has discussed the importance of the hotel industry in terms of bringing the
economic opportunities in the UK. In the initial stage of the research, the problem has been
identified and depending on the problem the objectives have been introduced. In order to
reach the objectives of this study, both the primary and secondary research has been done.
The following research analyses, the aims and objectives of the study, the literature review
including the theories and models of the hospitality industry contributing to the economic
growth, the importance of the concept along with a detailed methodology which describes
how the research has been done and in what ways the results have been collected and
analysed. In the analysis, the primary quantitative data in the form of questionnaires are being
used while secondary qualitative data is being considered. Not only the importance but also
the paper has discussed the barriers in the hospitality industry.

1. Introduction
1.1 Organisational background
Brotherton (2012) states that the hotel and hospitality industry is one of the most
popular industry sectors both for the career prospects on a global basis and for each of the
country in which the industry is being situated. The overall hospitality industry overall is a set
of industries that belongs to a set of fields regarding the lodging, planning of the event in
different countries including the transportation and communication including rail, water and
air. Brotherton (2012) states that the hospitality industry is one of the major parts of the
tourism industry which is at the stage of booming in the present era. Due to technological
advancement in this sector, the organizations are being able to fulfil the need of the
customers. On the other hand, after highlighting the hotel attributes, it has become easier for
organizations to introduce new ideas in the workplace. In the overall span of time, the
tourism industry is at the peak of all the major industries that are being operated in the
economy of any country. The United Kingdom is one of the developed countries of the world
which specialised in a number of industries for the growth of the economy and to maintain
the position as per the financial status of the country in the global sphere (Hoque 2013). The
overall analysis of the hotel industry is done on the basis of the hospitality industry that is
there in the span of the time, and it includes every spectrum of the hospitality sector which
contributes to the business and profit of the people included in the economy of the nation
(Kandampully, Zhang and Bilgihan 2015).
The following research analysis is done based on the role of the hotel industry for the
country of the United Kingdom which is one of the developed countries of the world. The
following paragraph analyses the aims and objectives of the study, the literature review

1.4 Importance of the study
The importance of the study is to ensure that the role of the growth of the hotel industry in
the province of the United Kingdom. In addition, the importance of the study is also to ensure
the growth of the hotel and the hospitality sector to have a fair idea about the role of the hotel
industry in the span of the time. The study aims to have a detailed analysis of the importance
of the hotel industry in the growth of the economy of a particular country, say the United
Kingdom in the specific research analysis. The importance of the study lies in the fact that the
analysis will shed light on the hospitality industry which is one of the prime industries of the
time and also to the fact that the study focusses on the challenges and recommendations
which are implied in the industry to mitigate the challenges that are there in the industry. The
overall analysis of the research sheds importance on the fact that the overall analysis will
have ample evidence on the growth of the hotel industries and its importance in establishing
the increase in growth of the economy which is one of the prime factors of the time.
2. Literature review
2.0 Introduction
The concept of the dissertation has been highlighted in this chapter. By using the
relevant theories and models related to the topic, applications of the models in the current
hospitality industry have been discussed. Different journals and articles related to the topic
have been discussed, which has helped the researcher to achieve the objective of this paper.
2.1 The Concept (the role of the hotel industry in the growth of the UK economy)
The hospitality industry has been introduced in the market with larger business
initiatives (Durna, Dedeoglu and Balikçioglu 2015). The British government has introduced

different policies in case of promoting the standard facilities in the hospitality sector.
Different boards have been developed for managing the entire process of the hospitality
sector in the right manner (Jauhari and Bharwani 2017). As per the record of British
Hospitality Association, it has been identified that hospitality and tourism industry has
contributed 19% on the total income of the nation (Zaitseva, Goncharova and Androsenko
2016). With the increasing job opportunities in this sector, the overall situation of globe has
been influenced. In case of gaining the attention of foreign investors, the hospitality industry
and its rapid growth are playing an essential role. Due to the hospitality industry, UK has
become the leading business area in the international market. With the increasing growth of
this industry, it can be assumed that it can increase the financial status of this country by
introducing different business opportunities.
In the words of Kim, Vogt and Knutson (2015), the hospitality industry has a high
contribution in the UK employment growth. By continuing this Kandampully, Zhang and
Bilgihan (2015) opined that in between the year 2010 to 2014, the contribution of UK
hospitality industry had increased 17% on the employment rate. From the last decades, the
hospitality industry has started getting importance due to the growing tourism industry. In
case of promoting the changing multicultural environmental growth, the role of hospitality
industry is very important. Due to rapid growth in hospitality industry, the global economy is
getting developed. In case of analysing the growth of hospitality industry, it can be said that
from the year 1955, political and economic prospects have influenced the growth trend of UK
hotel industry (Bowie et al. 2016). It has been identified that due to the increasing demands
for tourism industry the occupancy growth in the hotel sector has increased. Due to this
reason, the large hotel chain has been established in the UK. Hotel industry has a higher level
of contribution in terms of bringing the growth in the tourism industry. On the other hand, it
cannot be denied that after the globalization, the hospitality industry has brought various

employment and commercial opportunities in the global market (Wang, Tsai and Tsai 2014).
With increasing growth in the hotel industry, different business sectors have grown up.
Changing living standard and social preferences of the customers have influenced the growth
of hospitality industry and depending on the hospitality industry transport, event planning,
theme parks and fast food industry have been developed.
It cannot be denied that the hospitality industry has strong economic importance.
However, it is also true that various business challenges have created barriers for the
hospitality industry growth (Zaitseva, Goncharova and Androsenko 2016). It has been
identified that the expectation of the customers towards getting the good quality of products
at lower price from the hospitality industry, has created a tough situation for the growing
economy. However, it is also true that after the technological advancement, it has become
easier for hospitality organizations to grab large numbers of customers' attention. On the
other hand, in the year 2018, the hospitality occupancy growth in London has reached 0.2%
(Huang et al. 2016). It is also true that the growth in hospitality industry is unsustainable as
various political, economic and natural factors impact on its growth. Hospitality brings the
involvement of different communities in the business. It cannot be denied that innovation has
brought the various changes in the hotel attitudes.
In the words of Zaitseva, Goncharova and Androsenko (2016), the importance of
hospitality industry has increased when the large numbers of tourists have been attracted
towards UK. Due to its fastest-growing characteristics, the government and non-government
organizations have contributed a large amount to its development. It has been identified that
after the growth in tourism industry, 3.6% contribution has increased in UK GDP (Wang,
Tsai and Tsai 2014). Several business sectors such as food and beverage, accommodation
service and transportation have got flourished. On the other hand, with the unpredictable
growth in hospitality industry, large numbers of foreign investors have shown their interest in

the business. In the record of British hospitality association, due to the rapid growth in
hospitality industry, near about 127000 businesses have been introduced, which has
provided 1.6 million employment (Ukhospitality.org.uk 2018). If the total numbers of hotels
are being counted, it will be identified that within past few years 22000 hotels have been
developed in UK. Not only the hotels but also 16000 breakfast restaurants have been
developed. After the introduction of hospitality industry in UK, part-time and full-time
employment types have been introduced in the restaurant industry (Ukhospitality.org.uk
2018).
2.2 Theories and model
The term ‘hospitality’ indicates the wide range of functions. Hospitality management
is being considered as the field in which the commercial, non-commercial and voluntary
enterprises are being involved (Pizam, Shapoval and Ellis 2016). It has been identified that
depending on the current business practices the management theories and business intentions
have been changed. It cannot be denied that due to increasing demands of the customers it
has become tough for the organizations to satisfy the needs of the customers. It is true that
management theories are very important in hospitality industry as these are very important in
terms of delivering the standard quality of services (Ye and Yu 2018). In the case of
analysing the satisfaction level of the customers, Customer Satisfaction Analysis has been
introduced.

Customer satisfaction analysis is being considered as the practical platform in which
the business entrepreneur gets the chance to develop the marketing strategies depending on
the product or services. However, there are others many factors those influence the customer
satisfaction analysis process those are promotional activities, branding and quality of the
products. It cannot be denied that satisfied customers are the main resource of an organization
(Ali, Amin and Cobanoglu 2016). In the above diagram, customer satisfaction has been
measured into three important components. In other words, these can be considered as the
important key indicators of customer satisfaction analysis model (Kim, Vogt and Knutson
2015). Dissatisfied, satisfied and delighted three types of customers have been highlighted in
the model. It cannot be denied that the modern marketing theories and models are being used
for the commercial settings it has become easier for the hospitality organizations to deal with
the emerging hospitality growth.

The customer satisfaction model is being considered as the micro level of framework
in which the people and performance of an organization are being reflected through the
traditional Ps framework. It can be said that the customer satisfaction model has a higher
level of contribution to the profitability rate and increasing market share of an organization
(Ali, Amin and Cobanoglu 2016). It cannot be denied that the hospitality industry has been
developed depending on the satisfaction level of the customers. In this case, it can be said that
when the value of the products or services exceeds the expectation level of the customers the
market share of a particular organization can be increased. It is true that with the increasing
customer satisfaction the profitability curve can be influenced that will impact on the
business economic scale.
Kano’s model of customer satisfaction
In the Kano's model of customer satisfaction, the products attributes have been
classified into different types. In the year 1894, the Kano analysis model was developed by
Dr Noriaki Kano, which has become a useful tool for measuring service and product
development (Krassadaki and Grigoroudis 2018). In the Kano analysis model, the

performance and product have been divided into four categories such as performance,
excitement, indifferent and threshold.

Depending on the satisfaction of the customers the model has been divided into four
sections. In case of threshold attributes the most needed products are being highlighted for
gaining customer satisfaction. In the case of poor organizational performances the attributes
impact negatively on customer satisfaction. The performance attribute indicates the line
increment of customer satisfaction. Depending on the performance attributes large numbers
of the customers show their interest in investing in the products and services. It is also true
that the pricing of the products also gets influenced by the performance attributes. If the
performance of the service and products will be value for money, a large number of
customers get attracted towards the product. Excitement attributes are also very important in
terms of understanding the satisfaction level of the customers (Krassadaki and Grigoroudis
2018). In this case, it can be said that depending on this attribute the marketers get the
chance to gain a competitive advantage in the market. This attribute can be involved in the
performance attribute for influencing the level of satisfaction of the customers. In the case of
the indifferent attributes, the products cannot befall in any of the categories. In this case, the

customers are being preferred than the products. The Kano's customer satisfaction analysis
model is very useful in terms of delivering business practices in terms of dealing with
business practices in the service industry (Barutçu, Akgün and Aydin 2015). It is true that
this model is beneficial in terms of developing an effective business decision for the
organizations. On the other hand, it cannot be denied that depending on the model, the scope
of the business organizations towards understanding the customers' attributes can be
increased.
Profit need theory
It is true that the theories of management have a higher level of contribution in case of
achieving the profit need of an organization (Tisdell 2015). It is true that in the corporate
world, the theory of profitability has brought various opportunities for the organizations in
case of surviving in the market. Resource management skills are also very important in
hospitality management as it is needed for managing the entire corporate practices in the
workplace.
Frictional theory of profits
The normal rate of profitability has been influenced by the Frictional theory of profits.
The fictional theory of profits. In the frictional profit theory, the occasional distribution of
economy, as well as the unanticipated changes, are being highlighted (Moreno-Galbis and
Tritah 2016). The theory also highlights the cost and demand condition in the organization. It
is true that in a static economy, the economic profits can be introduced through the profit
changes. On the other hand, it is true that depending on the management practices the cost
condition in an organization can be benefited.
Monopoly theory of profits:

The firms which follow the monopoly theory of profit introduce the higher output
chargers. It indicates the above normal profit that can be characterized by a single seller or an
organization for maintaining the perfect competition. In case of calculating the monopolist
profit, the marginal cost is being determined through the derivation of the total cost (Foster
2014). The marginal revenues of monopoly maintain below position than the demand curve,
due to this reason the price always gets above than the marginal cost at equilibrium.
2.3 Types of Literature Reviews
In the report presented by the British Hospitality Association, it has been identified
that depending on the comprehensive contribution of the hospitality industry in UK economy
has brought the revolution in the financial status of this country (Bha.org.uk 2018). The
hospitality industry has a strong economic contribution in the case of increasing the
employment rate in this country. Through this article, the economic potentiality of the
industry in terms of dealing with the different growth aspects of the country has been
highlighted. In this article, the UK hospitality industry has been considered as an important
enterprise that is serving both the overseas and UK residents. It cannot be denied that the
major importance of the hospitality industry is it covers the accommodation provision, drinks
and meals in different venues. In this article, it has been identified that the hospitality
industry has overlapped tourism industry. In the mapping of tourism and hospitality industry,
it has been identified that depending on the interrelated nature as well as the relationship
between the tourism and hospitality industry the organizations will be able to develop the
business.
In the article namely ‘Strategic talent management: A macro and microanalysis of
current issues in hospitality and tourism' the importance of talent management in the
hospitality and tourism industry have been discussed. It has been identified that in case of
analysing the opportunities as well as challenges in this industry, the talent management

practices play an influential role. As stated by Sheehan, Grant and Garavan (2018), in terms
of economic growth, involvement of government in terms of bringing the leadership practices
for maintaining the healthy atmosphere in the workplace is important. The article highlights
the effective implementation of talent management for dealing with the increasing customer
dissatisfaction issue in the hospitality industry.
The article has shed light on the sustainability issues in hospitality industry. In the
words of Jones, Hillier and Comfort (2016), in case of identifying the importance of
sustainability for achieving a long-term goal, the characteristics of sustainability have been
discussed through the article ‘Sustainability in the hospitality industry: Some personal
reflections on corporate challenges and research agendas'. It is mentioned that there are three
sets of sustainability issues, those are creating a negative impact on the hospitality industry. It
has been identified that depending on the external assurance, the sustainability in the
workplace can be affected. On the other hand, by supporting this Rahimi and Gunlu (2016)
said it is true that the business imperatives are also very influential in terms of dealing with
the business opportunities. Importance of sustainable consumption in case of economic
growth of an organization has been highlighted through the article.
Another article namely ‘Emotional labor in the hospitality industry: The influence of
contextual factors’ has discussed the importance of emotional labour in terms of bringing the
improvement in hospitality firms. As stated by Shani et al. (2014), EL is being considered as
an effective business strategy for maintaining the employee retention process in the
workplace. In terms of developing the organizational culture as well as employee
relationship, the emotional labor training is needed. In the words of Prayag and Hosany,
(2015), in the current hospitality industry, when the changing customer preference and
excessive workload on the employees impacting on the employee turnover rate. In this

situation, the contribution of emotional labor is important for satisfying the mental and
physical demand.
2.4 Importance of the concept
As stated by Deraman et al. (2017), hospitality industry has strong economic
importance in the current situation. From the last few decades, well establishment of
hospitality industry has brought various opportunities. Due to technological advancement in
this sector, the organizations are being able to fulfil the need of the customers. On the other
hand, after highlighting the hotel attributes, it has become easier for organizations to
introduce new ideas in the workplace. By arguing this Benavides-Velasco, Quintana-García
and Marchante-Lara (2014) stated that it could not be denied that with the increasing
contribution of hotel industry in sustainable tourism development, a large number of tourists
are being attracted towards the industry. With the increasing availability of the customers, the
business revenue and rate of profitability are being influenced. Therefore, this can be said that
the major importance of hospitality is it has brought various process of expansion in the
economy. As the hospitality industry has started expanding globally, therefore, it can be said
that in the near future it will become the major contributor in the GDP (Boella 2017). On the
other hand, it is true that after the introduction of hospitality industry, the multicultural
relationship is being maintained in the industry. Hence, it can be said that the hospitality
industry is beneficial in terms of bringing sustainable changes in both economic and financial
life.

3. Methodology
This chapter deals with the different types of methodology that have been applied in the
research analysis of the subject including philosophy, research approaches, the design of the
research along with the data collection, analysis, tools and the ethical considerations that are
being implemented in the overall research of the time. Bernard (2017) states that Research
methodology is defined as the way in which the research of the subject is to be considered for
fulfilling the research objectives using the process and technique that is being implemented in
the research analysis of the methods. This whole chapter analyses the whole number of
methods that are being used for finding out the role of Hotel industries for the growth of the
economy of United Kingdom.
3.1 Research onion
Bryman and Bell (2015) state that Research Onion is defined as the set of stages or
process that are being used and utilised for conducting a set of research in action with the
strategy. The work of the research onion is to provide detailed progression report for the
methods of research that is to be used. The research onion follows a step-by-step analysis of
the process of research which starts with the philosophy of the research that is being
conducted. Then the approaches of the research are being conducted which is then followed
by the design of the research methods (Bryman and Bell 2015). The research design is then
followed by the fourth step of the analysis which the collection of the data in the span of the
time followed by the tools and techniques that are being followed in the whole method of the
research analysis. The sampling and the wholesome methods to be used for the analysis is the
last step for the analysis of the data regarding the stated topic on importance of hotel industry
on the growth of the economy.

3.2 Research philosophy
Lewis (2015) states that Research philosophy is defined as the set of philosophies that
is there for conducting the research of the individual manner. The overall analysis of the
research is done based on the philosophy of the matter and also encompasses the purpose of
the research in the said manner. There are four major philosophies of research which are used
in the research methodology of the said topic which is the role of the hotel industry in matters
of economic growth of the United Kingdom. The research philosophies that are being used in
different types of the research analysis are Positivism, Interpretivism, Pragmatism and
Realism (Lewis 2015).
The pragmatism research philosophy is done based on the mixed methods of the research
which involves both qualitative and quantitative methods of the research. The positivism is
defined as a structured philosophy having a large number of samples with both quantitative

and qualitative methods. Mackenzie et al. (2012) stated that the realism technique is chosen
according to the subject matter whereas the interpretivism method is used using small
samples and in-depth analysis of the methods.
The method to be used in this research analysis is the Interpretivism method of research as
the sample size is taken for the research is small and comprises of the hotel staffs as well as
the people involved in the financial growth measurement of the analysis (Miller 2012). The
hotel industry staff is being considered which means that the sample size taken is small and
the method implied is qualitative and quantitative both.
3.3 Research approaches
Panneerselvam (2014) states that the research approach is defined as the way in which
the research on a particular subject is being conducted based on the theories and principles,
and the objective of the research approach is to explore the research topic in the span of time.
There are three types of research approaches in the method which are an inductive, abductive
and deductive method of approach.
The inductive method of the research helps the researcher to set new theories and
concepts which the deductive method of research helps to analyse the methods and relevance
of the topic in relation to the theories (Panneerselvam 2014). Lastly, the abductive method
helps to analyse the problem according to the solution.
In this research, the deductive method of research is being used which analyses the
role of the hotel industry in the growth of the economy with the established theories and
models.
3.4 Research design
Li, Ye and Law (2013) stated that Research design is defined as the ways and means by
which the researcher uses the method of research to detailed analysis on the research

problems and finds ways to conduct the research analysis. There are two forms of research
analysis methods namely exploratory and explanatory.
The exploratory method of research helps to make sure that the researcher has developed a
new set of theories for the conduction of research based on the subject of research while the
explanatory model of research helps to analyse the topic based on the accepted theories and
standards to analyse the hypothesis of theories in the span of time (Li, Ye and Law 2013).
The research design followed is explanatory as in this case the role of the hotel
industry in the economic growth of United Kingdom is being judged based on the existing
theories and models and which help to analyse the probable hypothesis of the analysis based
on the theories and models.
3.5 Data collection methods
There are a number of ways in which the data collection for a particular research
analysis can be done using various means and methods in two of the ways – primary and
secondary data analysis. Swarbrooke and Page (2012) stated that the primary data is collected
from direct sources while the secondary data is collected from basic and other derived
sources.
In this analysis of the data, both primary and secondary methods of data analysis are being
done which have given ample scope for the researcher to have detailed analytical methods for
the role of hotels in the economic growth of United Kingdom. In the analysis, the primary
quantitative data in the form of questionnaires are being used while secondary qualitative
data is being considered.
3.6 Data collection techniques and tools
The data collection techniques and tools involve the various means which are being
used for the using up of the data. The data collection is being done using both primary and

secondary methods of analysis which represent a wholesome detailed interpretation of the
data in the span of time. The data collection techniques involve the methods and analysis both
in terms of the analysis of the questionnaires and the qualitative data analysis in the said
terms. The altogether analysis of the objectives makes sure that each of the methods of the
analysis involving the role of the hotel industry is being done. In addition, the data collection
techniques are being utilised to make sure that the overall analysis of the same.
3.7 Population and Sample size
The population, as well as the sample size, is being analysed based on the variation that is
used in the questionnaires that are being used in the following consideration. The population
and the sample size is taken for the following matter is approximately 100 which are being
used to assess the research.
3.8 Ethical consideration
There are a number of ethical considerations that are to be considered to make sure that the
overall analysis of the data is being considered in the span of the time. The ethical
consideration like the proper utilisation of the resources and the promotion of privacy in the
matter is one of the major factors analysing the aspects of the research. The overall analysis
of the ethical consideration lies in the zero forcing when it comes to answers and making use
of the overall analysis in a vital and effective manner. In addition, all the ethical notes of
judgement and other variations are to be considered keeping in mind the ethics of research.
4. Result and discussion
In the case of conducting the research, both the primary and secondary data have been
gathered. The primary data has been collected through the survey on 100 employees who are
involved in different hospitality organizations in UK. On the other hand, the qualitative data
has been collected from secondary sources such as journal articles and official websites.

In the above table, it has been identified that among 100 respondents 35 employees
have said that they have been working for less than 2 years in this sector, where 25%
employees have been working for 3 to 5 years, 20% of the total respondents have been
working for 6 to 8 year and 20% of the total participants are involved in this sector for more
than 8 years.
In the findings, it can be clearly said that the hospitality industry has been flourished
fastest manner from the last few years. On the other hand, 20% of the total respondents have
been working in this industry from more than 8 years. Therefore, it can be assumed that the
rate of turnover in this industry is also moderate. On the other hand, 35 % of the total
respondents have said that they are working from less than 2 years, it means the hospitality
industry has started appreciating the large numbers of newcomers from the last 2 years. In the
overall analysis, it can be assumed that the employment rate in this industry is truly high.

In the above table, it has been identified that among 100 respondents 50% of the
respondents have agreed that the employment standard is being maintained in this sector.
However, 25% of the total respondents have disagreed regarding the maintenance of
employment standard in the organization. On the other hand, 25% of the rest of respondents
have given the neutral answer.
In the above findings, it has been identified that half of the total respondents have
agreed that employment standard is being maintained in this industry. Therefore, the
hospitality enterprises maintain the proper rules and regulations in the workplace. However,
some of the respondents have disagreed with this. It means, although a large number of
organizations are following the employment standard, there are many others enterprises
where the proper employment rights aren't being followed, which have created the
dissatisfaction among the employees.

In the above table, it has been identified that among the 100 respondents 35% of the
respondents have said that they are satisfied with the wages structure and 25% of the

respondents have mentioned they are highly satisfied with the wages structure. On the other
hand, 15% of the total respondents have said they are not satisfied with the wages structure.
25% of the total respondents have given a neutral answer.
In the above findings, it has been analysed that the major portion of the total
respondents is getting the satisfactory wages from their workplace. Therefore, it can be
assumed that after the introduction of economic opportunities in the hospitality industry,
structural growth has also been introduced. However, it cannot be denied that few
respondents gave the negative answer regarding their satisfaction, which indicates that the
industry still needs to focus on improving its internal structure so that employee satisfaction
can be increased.

participants have agreed that they get satisfactory economic opportunities in this sector. On
the other hand, 35% of the total respondents have said that they do not get any kind of
economic facilities from this sector. 15% of the respondents have given the neutral answer.
In the above findings, it has been analysed that the sector has brought large scale of
economic opportunities for large number of people. With the growing industrial situation, the
people who are associated with the industry have also got different facilities that have

impacted on the economic status of them. On the other hand, 35% of the total respondents
have disagreed in case of getting the economic opportunities from the hospitality sector. In
this case, it can be assumed that although different hospitality enterprises have brought
opportunities for large number of employees, but also there are still many organizations
where the employees are still struggling for improving their financial status. In such cases,
the rate of employment can also be affected.

In the above table, it has been identified that among the 100 respondents, 50 % of the
total respondents have agreed that with the increasing economic opportunities in this sector, it
will become an important economic contributor in the near future. On the other hand, 35% of
the total respondents have disagreed with this. 15 % of the respondents have given neutral
answer.
In the above finding, it has been analysed that hospitality industry is an emerging industry
and have brought the opportunities for the newcomers in the market. In this case, it can be
said that depending on the increasing technological advancement in the workplace, the
industry has expanded. It cannot be denied that depending on the hospitality business; many
other sectors have been flourished. Therefore, it can be assumed that in the long run, it will
become the major contributor in global economy.

Findings and analysis:
In the abbe table, it has been identified that among 100 respondents 30 % of the
respondents have agreed that hospitality industry has higher level of contribution in terms of
developing the career graph of the newcomers. 35 % of the total respondents have strongly
agreed that hospitality industry can be the major scope for newcomers in the market. On the
other hand, 25% of the total respondents have said that this industry is not suitable for
developing the career graph. 10% of the total respondents have mentioned that they will
never recommend the newcomers for entering the hospitality industry.
In the above findings, it has been analysed that large portion of the total respondents
have agreed that hospitality sector can be effective in terms of developing the carrier graph.
However, more than a quarter portion of the total respondents has provided their negative
answer. It can be assumed that the benefits hospitality industry are not equally distributed.
Some of the cases, lack of employment standard maintenance in the workplace as creased the
dissatisfaction among the employees.

5. Conclusion and recommendation
5.1 Conclusion
At the end of the dissertation, it can be concluded that the hospitality industry has a
high contribution in terms of bringing the economic opportunities in the UK. It has been
identified that due to increasing opportunities in the business sector, depending on the
hospitality industry various industrial developments have been introduced. On the other hand,
it is also true that there are still many issues regarding the employment standard and work-life
balance, which has creased dissatisfaction and economic barriers for the industry.
5.2 Linking with objectives
Objective 1: To identify the factors determining the importance of the hotel industry
In the secondary research, it has been identified that the hospitality sector has a higher
level of contribution in terms of influencing the employment rate in the UK. After the
introduction of globalization both the technological and financial opportunities for the people
who are associated with this industry. On the other hand, it has been identified that hospitality
industry has brought various options for tourism, accommodation, and food and transport
industry.
Objective 2: To identify the role of hotel industry in the growth of the economy of United
Kingdom
In the secondary research, it has been identified that the hotel industry has increased
the recognition in the global market by increasing the business revenue. It is true that
hospitality industry has brought sustainable development in tourism industry and promoting
different job opportunities. In the survey, it has been analysed that large number of
respondents have agreed that by depending on the hospitality sector, financial growth can be
brought in the career graph.

Objective 3: To identify the challenges of the hotel industry in the growth of the economy of
United Kingdom
In the survey, it has been identified that with increasing growth opportunities, work
pressure on the employees has also increased. In this situation some of the cases the
organizations do not be able to maintain the employment standard in the workplace. As its
result, the rate of employees’ turnover and customer satisfaction regarding issue increases,
which indirectly influence the business revenue.
Objective 4: To identify the probable recommendations for mitigating the growth challenges
regarding the hotel industry in United Kingdom.
It cannot be denied that the hospitality industry has brought changes in the social and
financial status of the people. However, due to increasing challenges increasing employee
turnover has brought the growth challenges for this industry. In order to deal with the
situation, employment standard needs to be followed by the organization. In order to deal
with the changing customer preference, innovation needs to be introduced in the industry.
5.3 Recommendation
 Employment standard needs to be maintained in the workplace
 Technological innovation needs to be introduced in the industry
 Work-life balance should be followed by every enterprise
5.4 Limitation of study
In the above dissertation, it has been analysed that it has mainly focused on the UK
industry, however, in the global context the scenario may differ. The data has been collected
through a survey, where getting the appropriate information regarding the challenges,
qualitative research would have been better. The researcher has got limited time for
conducting the research, which can be considered as the major limitation of this research.

Due to a limited budget, the sample size of for the dissertation was 100. In the case of
improving the quality of the research, more journals and articles should have been viewed by
the researcher. Due to lack of access in different official websites, the researcher was not able
to collect the information in detail. If the research had been critically discussed, it would have
been better to understand for the readers.
5.5 Future scope study
The topic of the dissertation is the role of hotel industry in the growth of the UK
economy, where the important role of the hotel industry and its contribution have been
highlighted. Not only the importance but also the paper has discussed the barriers in the
hospitality industry. It has been identified that depending on the current hospitality practices;
it will be easier for entrepreneurs to understand the growth trend in this industry. Different
customer satisfaction analysis model and profitability theory have been discussed in this
study, which can be beneficial in terms of developing a sustainable position in the market.
