1. Introduction
Introduction
With the advancement of trends and technology, the digitization is the basic requirement for
the growth of the business. The project report is designed for the “Hotel Universe” located in
Singapore, which wants to transform their traditional working related to the management of
hotel services into the development of an information system which is capable of handling
business activities (Ryan and Thompson, 2015). The Purpose of this project is to design a
conceptual information system which is relevant for handling business operation like booking
of the hotel, payment mode, providing services and facilities, accuracy in information, and
others.
Research Aim
The aim of the proposed project report is to develop an information system which is user
friendly at both the ends i.e. at customer side and admin side. The hotel management facilities
and services should be synchronised precisely for increasing the reliability of the managerial
functions.
Problem Statement
The traditional working system of “Hotel Universe” is facing complexity in handling the job
of the receptionist and project manager. The customers are also not able to book their room
through the online portal of the hotel. The management of paper work is difficult to maintain
and retrieve. The working ability of the team members is decreasing. The proposed model
helps in increasing the profitability of the hotel.
Type of business
It is the service based business. The quality of service should be provided to the customers so
that they can remain bonded with the hotel for prosperity.
Core Concern
The management of daily routine activities of the hotel is the major concern area for
proposing the system. With the advancement of trends and technology, the digitization is the
basic requirement for the growth of the business (Nigl, 2011).

2. Purpose of the proposed Information system
The proposed project is functional for three entities which are classified as customers, Hotel
Staff, and hotel Manager. The proposed system model is capable of providing the following
information:
Facility of online booking of the room
Database for storing the details of the customers for future booking (Kubavat and
Panchani, 2014)
Presentation of the daily report for the smooth functioning of the business operation
Enquiry of the customers regarding availability of the room
Selection of the room according to the requirement of the customers i.e. single Bed
room or Double bed room (Ogirima, 2014).
Payment portal
Automatic Updating and modification of information on the hotel portal in regards to
the availability of the room, allocation of the room, list of the customers, payment
report, and others.
Security mechanism during the transaction of payment
Notification is send to the customers through the e-mail statement which clarifies the
details of room number, type of room, payment charged, check in and check out time.
The system can be easily modified by adding new features according to the
requirement hotel management plan
Security procedures should be proposed for securing the credentials of the customers
from data leakages.
Backup support to minimize the data loss due to the occurrence of failure or disaster
in the operational platform of the enterprise.
Accuracy in providing the data on the requirement placed by the customer or admin

3. Business process flowchart
The following flowchart shows the overall process of the project. The information is given to
the system by using Web browser.
The apache server will connect the browser with the application services provided at the user
end. The information provided by the user will stored at the database of Hotel Universe
(Bhautik school study, 2015). The above diagram shows the flow of information from
customers to the receptionist who is responsible for booking of the room and storing the
update information into the database (Jain and Kumar, 2009). The hotel manager gather
information from the reports stored at the hotel database.
