How to Ensure Success as a Student

HOW TO ENSURE
SUCCESS AS A
STUDENT??

INTRODUCTION:
Success is crucial for each and every individual. However, its
meaning and definition is different for every person. The
achievement of one’s goal within the pre-decided time period is
referred to as success. The following presentation is based on
the attainment of success as a student. Successful students are
not different from other students. It is just that they are more
disciplined and focused and this makes them successful. In the
following presentation, we will discuss what habits can actually
help a student in getting successful.

WHAT IS SUCCESS?
The success can be defined as the achievement of the
predetermined action within a particular time period
and as per the specified parameter (Business
Dictionary, 2019). The achievement of the objectives
or the attainment of the goals can also be referred to
as Success. The goals or objectives can either be
work-related or related to the personal goals of the
individual. For example: Success for the individual
looking for an employment opportunity would be to
get selected by a company and been offered the
letter of employment.

WAYS TO ENSURE SUCCESS AS A STUDENT
 Be organised: It is always beneficial to plan what are you going to do
and when and how you are going to do. This always keep a student
ahead. On the contrary, students who does not get organised always
waste their time in looking for notes and other things. Therefore, it is
important to be organised and this can be achieved by setting daily
reminders of the important work to do (Goodin, 2015).
 Make studies your first priority: The first noticeable habit of the
successful students is that they know how to get success by prioritising
things and giving top priority to their studies. They know that it is
equally important to focus on studies and give sufficient time to studies
in addition to the time for friends, family and self time. However, the
importance of taking breaks and time for hobbies and extracurricular
activities can not be overlooked (Goodin, 2015).

 Be punctual: Student needs to understand the value of time in order to
get success and therefore it is crucial for the student to inculcate the habit
of arriving on time (Salau, 2018). Successful students have the habit of
arriving early or few minutes before so as to take time out for getting
situated properly and getting ready for the learning process.
 Work honestly: Honesty always leads to success. Therefore in order to
get successful, a student must do all his work by himself and therefore
should try to avoid copying as well as cheating at all (Salau, 2018).
However, by copying and cheating, one can get a temporary success but
this shortcut would land you in the world full of troubles later on.
Developing the habit of cheating and copying might prevent the student
from using their potentials to the maximum extent.

 Stay focused: Successful students have the habit of staying focused on
the task which they are currently engaged in. One way to achieve this is
to train the mind to concentrate on one task for as long as possible. One
must try to slowly build up the time needed to focus and take short
breaks in between in order to regenerate the energy and focus on task
(Goodin, 2015).
 Pay attention: For a student to achieve success, it is very important to
properly pay attention in the classroom (Salau, 2018). The student needs
to pay attention to what the teacher say and therefore must be motivated
to listen carefully to their teachers. Therefore, the students needs to avoid
distractions like texting friends or talking to the friends and keep the eyes
and mind on what the teacher is saying. Once you lost the track of what is
going in the classroom, it would be difficult to pay attention later.

 Take notes: The importance of taking notes is also vital for the student in
order to get success (Jasper, 2018). The habit of making notes help the
students in revising the matter and studying later. In addition to this, it also
helps in keeping the students engaged in the classroom as well as in learning
what has been taught in the classroom.
 Ask questions. In order to get success and be successful, it is important that
students ask questions to their teachers in the classroom. This implies that
student is paying attention in the class and is also trying to understand what
has been taught. However, it is important for the students to not to interrupt
the teachers in between and clear their confusions once the teacher
completes (Jasper, 2018).

 Avoid distractions in the classroom: Student needs to avoid
distractions in the classroom or while studying in order to remain
successful.. Student needs to keep away all the things that
distracts him from studies such as food, mobile etc. in order to
remain focused on studies (Aggor, 2014).
 Create a game plan for each study session: Another way to
achieve success is to have a plan before each study session. In this
manner, a student can easily achieve his goals and therefore can
remain productive. Planning sessions and making schedule of each
and everything will help in keeping the student motivated (Aggor,
2014).

 Take breaks: It might seem surprising for few that taking breaks in
between studies leads to success. This is because of the fact that no
individual can study straightforward for long hours and taking breaks in
between helps in the regenerating energy (Jasper, 2018). Taking breaks
are important as they allow the mind to rest and energise itself for the
next session.
 Don't multitask: Multitasking decreases the productivity as physically it
is impossible for students to multitask. Multitasking reduces the efficiency
as it makes the student switch between several tasks (Aggor, 2014).

CONCLUSION
From the above slides, it has become clear, that in order to get
successful, a student must be disciplined and organised. He
must know how to focus on one task at a time and therefore
must not waste time on multitasking as it reduces the
productivity and efficiency of the student. In addition to this,
taking breaks helps the student in energising and makes him
capable of performing tasks more efficiently. Success is crucial
and therefore it is important for the student to follow certain
rules explained in the above slides to get success.
