INTRODUCTION
Human resource department is one of the important that manages all the activities in the
organization and also motivates employees to work efficiently (Stewart and Brown, 2019). In the
project Amcor plc company is being taken. In project 1 roles and responsibilities of HR, benefits
of HRM practices, strengths and weakness of recruitment and selection process. Importance of
employee relation in influencing HRM decision making, key elements of employment legislation
and its impact on decision making is described. In project 2 job specification for vacancy within
organization, CV according to the requirement, documents that are required and evaluation of
selection process is discussed.
PROJECT 1
Overview of company
Amcor plc is a public company which was founded in 1860, its headquarters is in Zurich,
Switzerland. Key people of the company are Ron Delia, Managing Director and Chief
Executive Officer.
Mission - To generate sustainable shareholder value by providing packaging solutions provider
and encourage employees to achieve highest standard of performance.
Roles and responsibilities of HR manager
In an organization HR plays a crucial role as they have many responsibilities such as,
managing the staff of company by making proper strategies which all the employees have
to follow, determine salary for workers and make their payroll. They also provide training
and development programs to employees so that they can improve their performance and
contribute in achieving goals and objectives of company (Bibi, Ahmad and Majid, 2018).
In Amcor plc HR managers are measuring the performance of employees and according to
that they decide salary and remuneration. They arrange training and development sessions
to improve the performance of employees.
HR manager of Amcor plc are responsible for recruiting and selecting appropriate
candidate for the company, make plans or strategies and coordinate it with all the other
departments in the organization. Managers are also responsible for learning and development as
they compare the work done by employees with the standards set and according to that they
make plans to improve skills of workers so that they can give their best in accomplishing targets

of the company. They appraise work done by employees, rewards are given to worker who
perform well and punishment is given to workers who did not perform well and need training to
improve their work (Delery and Roumpi, 2017).
Strengths and weakness of recruitment and selection
Approaches of recruitment are, advertising, recruitment agency, and many other
approaches. These help managers of Amcor plc in recruiting best candidate for company.
Advertising – As this is the best way of recruiting, company give advertisement through social
media, newspaper etc., for the vacant job and interested candidates can apply. It’s strength is that
company can get best employee from large of number applicants who applied, it saves time and
money. Weakness is that there are many candidates who are not eligible but they apply so
managers have to check every CV and choose the appropriate candidate for the company (Guest,
2017).
Selection approaches - Approaches to selection process are, online screening and psychometric
test. Advantages of online screening is that it saves time as online screening is done to identify
the appropriate candidates. Disadvantages of online screening is that it requires a lot of money.
Advantages of psychometric test is that it helps in identifying skills of candidates with help of
technology and it saves time. Disadvantage of this approach is that it requires huge investment
and there are many cultural barriers present in surrounding, base is a small population,
sometimes false answers are given (Markoulli and et.al., 2017).
