INTRODUCTION
Human resource management refers to the strategic approach in order to make effective
people within the organisation. On the basis of effectiveness they can get competitive advantages
in order to fulfil company's requirements in an effective manner. The present case study is based
on Arcadia group, which is the world's best British multinational retailing organisation was
formed in the year of 2002 it is headquartered in London, UK. Along with this discussion will be
made on Me Too Movement in order to define the HR practices, functions and workforce
planning on the basis of current practices of HR. further continue with the, R&S approaches
followed by the Arcadia group to reduces issues from the organisation by using workforce
planning. At last, recommendations on the basis of this research as well effective solutions will
get covered in this report (Armstrong and Taylor, 2014).
1. Overview of the Arcadia group and Philip Green from the HR perspective by using functions
and practices of HR as well as workforce planning.
On the basis of present case study has been evaluated that Arcadia group is the best
British multinational retailing organisation which deals with different types of clothing brands
such as Topman, Top shop, Dorothy Per kins and so on. Wherein, Philip green is the Chief
Executive Officer of this organisation, who has been embroiled in several issues like sexual
harassment, bullying and racism and so on. In order to improve all these situation HR is required
to give some functions and practices to make effective organisation in front of the people within
the UK. There are different functions of HR functions including workforce planning, given
below:
Functions of HRM including workforce planning:
Planning: It is the combination of different kind of objectives in order to make company
effective in front of others. In reference to the Arcadia group they are applying this function in
their company in order to minimise their issues as Philip green has involved in few issues, so
with the help of planning they can reduce their problems specially Me Too concept by which
employee's of this organisation can easily work together to achieve their goals. Wherein, HR can
make effective plan to select people for the organisation that's why is is helpful to increase
workforce planning in a proper way.

Managing employee's relation: The employee's relations is the very wide concept
within the organisation as they are the only one who always gives positive results to the
organisation effectively. In reference to the Arcadia group HR manager is responsible to manage
their effective relations in a systematic way in order to reduce conflicts and its build good
relationship with them. On the basis of this taken group is needed to apply good strategies to hire
good applicant for the company so it will enhance the workforce planning.
Training and development: It is one of the best function of human resource in which
any organisation can provide effective learning skills for their employee's in order to achieve
their goals. In reference to the Arcadia group, they are using this form in their organisation
wherein, HR offered several kind of training and development programmes to their employee's
in order to enhance their working performance for achieving targeted goals. That's why it is
necessary for increasing workforce to make organisation famous at higher level.
Therefore, this can be said that Arcadia group is applying different kind of human
resource functions in order to make their company and employee's effective so that they can face
any kind of issues and able to resolved them. On the other side as per the case study they have
faced many issues like work place bullying, sexual harIn a landmark judgassment and so on. So
that with the help of these functions and practices of HRM like raising productivity and profit of
the firm they can get their achievements in a proper way without facing any issues in a proper
way.
2. As per the above scenario evaluation of R&S approaches which is used by this group with
specific examples.
According to the above analysation, it has been concluded that Arcadia group has
successfully applied human resource functions in order to achieve targeted goals for future in an
appropriate manner (Bratton and Gold, 2017). There are some R&S approaches which is used by
Arcadia group that help to maintain the reputation of Philip green in the organisation, listed
below:
Recruitment agencies: These are involves in the private sector agencies and also offered
different kind of job profile to the applicant in order to achieve their target in a proper way. On
the basis of this an individual can enhance their confidence in order to get job within the business
sector. This concept always motivated them to deal in tough situation within the industry. this

approach is not bearing any kind of amount from people and provide them effective job profile
as per their choice. In relation with Arcadia group they are using this approach to hire their
appropriate candidate in order to make effective their business functions easily. Therefore, this
approach can bring new changes in the company and always remove the issues and problems in a
proper way.
Recruitment and selection schemes: On the basis of this approach, HR manager always
makes effective strategies in order to hire and select their candidates in a proper way. In
reference to the Arcadia group, they mainly followed these approaches in order to select
appropriate candidate in a proper way. With the help of this, applicants are able to meet with
several kind of people and also they can get ideas about this organisation and gives better result
at last.
From the above scenario it has been analysed that both recruitment and selection
approaches are very much helpful in order to reduce different factors from the organisation in
order to manage HR practices in an effective manner. As both approaches are focusing on the
few legislation and rules on the Me too concept by which HR manager can get ideas about
present situation within the organisation.
In order to change the scenario, it has been suggested that HR practices are very much
effective and helpful to achieve company's goals by reducing different kind of issues which is
not good for the company. That's why company follows previous laws in order to stop sexual
harassment, workforce bullying etc. so that they can make better organisation in a proper manner
(Brewster and Hegewisch, 2017).
3. HR policies used by Arcadia group and impact of HRM on decision making.
Human resource policies can be defined in a different ways which all are helpful to make
effective decision within the organisation in order to achieve goals perfectly. These are includes
in such ways, like employee's classification, pay advances, classification of employee's, overtime
compensation as well as vacation policies by which all people can achieve their equal
employment in a particular manner. Therefore, these policies are available in the different
source of an organisation which helps Arcadia group in order to take effective and positive
decision for the HM practices.
Therefore, with the help of these HR policies this selected company can get their
achievement because these policies are reducing the chances of sexual harassment from the

perspective of employee's and employer's as well. By using effective policies employee's and
employer's both are able to take few services within the organisation in order to achieve their
goals in an appropriate manner. That's why it is very important for both because they are the
effective aspects of organisation who always work for them to attain their target goals in a
particular manner.
Uses of external bodies (Trade union, BIS, ACAS)
Trade union: It refers to the association of workers as well as legal units in which they
are act as the bargaining agents and legal representatives in order to make effective decision
within the organisation to achieve goals in a proper way. On the other side it is the form of
collective bargaining with labours and employees to remove conflicts from the organisation.
BIS: The Bureau of Indian Standards is the national body of India in which they are
working as the ministry of consumers, public distribution and government of India so that they
controlled the negative factors from the company. Therefore, external bodies are much important
in an effective manner.
ACAS: This is the advisory, conciliation and arbitration services, all these have main
purpose to changes within the organisation in order to give facility for the employees so that they
can work easily in an appropriate manner.
Therefore, all external bodies are much effective and useful in order to reduce negative
factors and make organisation effective. With the help of this management can get higher
support from these external factors as they are minimising the factors of negativity within the
workplace in a proper manner (Brewster, Gooderham and Mayrhofer, 2016).
Impact on HR decision making:
Employee relations and engagement : a collaborative approach
According to this approach HR can get influenced in order to make effective decisions
because it is the proper way to make god decision within the organisation. In context with the
Arcadia group they are using this approach in order to make effective decision for their
organisation and gain competitive advantages in an appropriate manner. By using this approach
and laws they can reduce workplace bullying, discrimination, sexual harassment for making
better company within the UK. Therefore, it is important for every organisation that helps them
to build good decision with the help of employee's ans people with in the organisation.

4. Recommendations based on the present case study in context with Arcadia group.
As HRM is an very important part of every company in order to manage their work in an
effective manner. On the basis of this research it has been recommended that recruitment and
selection is best approach for the HR manager of Arcadia group as by using these approaches
they are able to select appropriate candidates for their organisation so that they can easily
manage their work by having lots of workforce in a proper manner. For this situation, and in
order to improve the current image of the company it has been recommended that firstly, they
need to identifying their effective and various strategies in order to make strong relationship with
their team members and managers. Along with this, they should focuses on their HR practices
and decision making process to more minimising the discrimination and workforce bullying form
the company's employee's in a proper manner. At last it has been recommended that they should
consider their all factors in which they are not able to perform well (Buller and McEvoy, 2012).
Therefore, now this can be said that, Arcadia group is able to analyse their all factors and
issues which is highlighted by the Me Too concept in which they have faced lots of situation but
now they are bale to manage their work in an appropriate manner. That's why HR practices are
much helpful for managing this organisation's work in a proper way.

CONCLUSION
From the above representative case study, it has been concluded that human resource
management is the strategic approach, which is prepared for designing effective ideas and
techniques in order to operate business firms effectively. In this report Arcadia group is the
company which deals with clothing brands within the UK. Wherein, Philip Green has been
involved in so many problems as he was the CEO of this company, so that he faced lot of issues
like workforce bullying, sexual harassment and so on. But HRM practices and function is very
helpful and attractive in order to manage company's issues and problems in a rpoper way. With
the help of HRM they have been successfully faced lots of laws and legislation in order to
increase better workforce in the organisation.
