INTRODUCTIONDuring earlier time the role of human resource manager was limited to hiring and selecting employees. But with the passage of time, due to stiff competition and dynamic Business environment, there has been increase in roles as well as responsibilities of human resource manager in an organization. Now the function of human resource manger is to prepare strategies and plans for supporting business entity in achieving success. Human resource management is defined as procedure through which employees in an enterprise can be managed in systematic manner. The process includes several activities such as selection , placement , recruitment, training etc.Employees working in a human resource department requires to poses specialized skills and core competencies. As this will help human resources manager in performing their roles and fulfilling their responsibilities in effective manner. Human resource manager by planning appropriate strategies assist firm in improving productivity and increasing working efficiency. Purpose of human resource manager is to hire best , talented and skilled workforce human resource management team could help firm in achieving goals and objectives.The purpose of the project is to develop the understanding about the function of human resource manager in context of planning and resourcing in context of Hsbc bank. It also emphasizes on identifying the strength as well as weaknesses of several approaches to recruitment.TASK 1P1 Objectives and role of human resource manager in context of Planning and resourcing an enterprise.Strategic human resource management is defined as the practices of human resource manager which is executed with the intention to attract employees and encourage them to work for the benefit of an organization. Strategic human resource manager helps company in achieving success. Function of strategic human resource manager is to develop plans for recruiting, hiring practices , motivating employees and for providing workers with appropriate training. pi management is defined as procedure of creating practices, program , developing policies which assist an enterprise in accomplishing objectives. Nature of strategic management is that it can be completed integrated with other strategies. Strategic management also support management in catering business needs. Human resource management is recognized as strategic approach whichis adopted by firm in order to manage employees , their performance or activity at workplace (Delery and Roumpi,2017)In context of global business environment, when performing the several function, human resource manager has to face various issues as well as challenges related to managing people and

their activities. Human resource manager also have to face difficulty in measuring the performance of workers and identifying their need of training. The major issues faced by human resource manager when involved in international business are legal restriction, workforce diversity , training as well as professional development etc. As there are core five important functions of global human resource manager which are essential concepts to strategic operation in Banking sector.Recruitment- The significant role of human resource manager in an organization is attract hire aswell as retain employees .This activity include following task these are preparing a job description, taking interview of candidate, negotiating salaries etc. The objective of human resource manager behind performing this role is to create highly as well as talented workforce which could help an organization in achieving objectives.On the job training-the another major role of human resource manager is to identify the training need of workers and make training arrangement for same. This task is important especially when company is operating business at international level. The objective behind performing this role and responsibility is to help employees in improving their performance and completing this task in effective manner. Human resource manager intends to provide employees with a chance to grow and gain education.Ensuring Legal compliance- The most important function of human resource manager. It is the duty of human resource manager is to comply with several laws as well as regulations. The objective of this task is to help firm in preventing legal obligations.As per the hard and soft approached of human resource management in context of planning and resourcing, the following are the roles of strategic human resource manager these are workforce planning, performance evaluation, performance management , job analysis etc.These all task are the component of hard human resource management. Hard human resource management-The hard human resource management are recognized as the routine or normal function of human resource manager. This concept is also recognized as very instrumental as well practical in nature. The human resources manager with this type of approachconsiders other employees as passive resource. As per this concept, human resource planning is recognized as an important factor of production which is associated with trade union.Soft human resource management-Human resource manager with this type of approach simply treat workers as a most essential business resource. They also perceive that this strategy will help business entity in increasing competencies as well as gaining competitive advantage. Such type of human resource manager emphasizes on recognizing the needs of employees as well as organizations. All the workers are treated as an individual and their requirement are planned accordingly. Human resource manager with this type of approach are more concerned with long term man power planning (Rees and Smith,eds., 2017)
