INTRODUCTIONHuman resource management is the strategic approach to effectual management ofpeople in organization, so that they support the business achieve competitive advantages. HRdepartment is planned to maximize worker's performance in service of employee objectives.HRM is concerned with motivating, hiring and maintaining employees within businesses. Thepresent report is based on Squire's Garden centers which is located in UK. This is a familyowned business that give their services to local community. This report will explain about purpose of Human resource function and their importancein organization and also discuss benefits and disadvantage of recent recruitment and selectionmethods that compare with the other one (Brewster and et.al., 2016). In this study justify jobdescription and person specification and recommendation for appropriate vacancy. Furthermore,this report also evaluate the benefits of Squire's and explain development opportunities toemployees in organization. In addition to this, the present study also clarifies employees’engagement and their importance and recommend for engaging employee within company. Italso explains UK employment legislation impact on human resource decision making process. TASK 1a) Purpose and importance of HR functionsHuman resource department is the department which handles a various functions in anorganisation and human resource functions has got various purposes within an organisation. Staffing- Human resource has to handle many issues in an organisation which are relatedto staffing, performance management, compensation, training and development etc all thesecome under the functions of HR. Purpose of HR function in an organisation is to manage thepeople strategically which also includes recruitment and selecting of the new employees in anorganisation. This is very much important function of HR whose purpose is to staff rightcandidate, at right post and at right time as well.Training and development- After hiring the employees then coordinating with theemployees and provide training and development programs for effective performance of theemployees in an organisation (Tracey, 2016). A purpose of HR function is to maintain thebalance between the employees and management in Squire's Garden Centres. HR is to help in arecruitment and selection process Squires Garden by providing potential and qualified candidates1

to the organisation. It purposes is to maintain good working conditions and to manage theemployee relations in an organisation. Figure 1: HR functions[Source: Rabin, 2018]Recruitment and selection- HR functions have great importance for Squire's Gardenwithout HR functions an organisation would not be able to meet their goals of recruitment andselection process (Rabin, 2018). HR functions help an organisation in providing a requiredcandidates for the right job at right place. It is the function of the HR to deal with number ofproblems and issues such as employees management, need of training and development in anorganisation, provide compensation, helps in motivating the employees, handling employeesgrievances recruitment and selection etc. So without proper HR functions Squire's Garden willnot be able to function smoothly. Thus HR functions are a backbone of Squire's Garden as ithelps in meeting in achieving business objectives. HR officers can become an employer of choice by fulfilling the staffing need in anorganisation. Which can be done by selecting effective and potential candidates for theorganisation (Islam, 2018). HR officer plan is to make the proper recruitment and selectionprocess which will help in selecting required candidates and should be able to deal withproblems of recruitment process effectively. HR should frame a proper planning for recruitmentand section, effective training and development programs and performance measurements whichwill help HR officer to become employer of the choice for Squire's Garden. 2
