INTRODUCTION
Human resource management refers to process of management of human resource,
providing training and compensation to the employees and developing effective strategies in
order to retain them for long period. Human resource management is plays an important role in
organisation by developing ethical values in different employees. Human resource management
play a crucial role by managing and encouraging performance of different employees in the
organisation (Agarwal, 2021). The human resource management is also powerful as its major
functions are motivating employees, providing them training and development, solving problems
of employees in order to increase satisfaction of employees. Human resource management
provide various benefits to organisation as it helps in finding right kind of employees at right
place in company and manage performance of employees which helps in improving efficiency of
employees. Human resource managers also helps in building culture as well as values in the
organisation and also focus upon the management of conflict within the same.
This project report includes study of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars which is a auto mobile
organisation providing its products and service at international level (Acquah, Agyabeng-
Mensah and Afum, 2020). Rolls-Royce was established in the year 1904 and the founder of this
company was Charles Rolls and Henry Royce. This project report includes explanation of scope
and purpose of human resource management in order to retain skills and talented employees who
are capable for fulfilling purpose and objectives of business. This report covers different
functions which are performed by human resource management in order to develop the
organisation according to contemporary world. This project also covers various HRM practices
that are used by human resource management of an organisation. In this project a brief overview
of employment legislation is also explained in a precise manner.

Function of Human resource management
The main function which is performed by human resource management is recruitment
and selection (Arvanitis, Seliger and Stucki, 2016). This function of HR management helps to
hire and select right employees for the business entity. Function of HRM helps business to

increase engagement of employees and also increase their productivity. It also helps them to
improve their efficiency and also retain employees for long period of time. There are various
functions to be performed by human resource managers in an organisation. Function to be
performed by Rolls-Royce are as follows:
Job design and analysis: Job design is one of important function of HRM as it involves
the process of describing duties, responsibilities as well as operation of job. In order to hire right
kind of employees in an organisation based on rationality as well as research (Al-Romeedy,
2019). The HR management of an organisation mainly performs different activities which are
related to job design in order to gain growth at the marketplace. This helps managers Rolls-
Royce to identify right kind of employees for the job.
Hiring and selection of employees: Recruitment and selection is basic function of HRM
which focuses on choosing qualified and eligible employees for the organisation in order to
achieve objectives and goals of business (Chaudhary, 2020). The function of HRM starts with
hiring right kind of employees among available applicants. The human resource management of
an organisation mainly conducts interview of different candidates to select the appropriate
candidate for a job.
Employees training and development: Employees training and development is another
function which is performed by human resource management (Das and Kodwani, 2018). This
function helps the business to improve efficiency of employees and also increase their
engagement. Hiring employees is not sufficient for organisation, it is also important for HR
managers to provide them training to employees which helps them to understand job and its
functions.
Compensation and benefits: Benefits and compensation are also important in order to
increase the satisfaction of employees (Anlesinya and Susomrith, 2020). The human resource
management is helpful in developing performance of different employees by providing monetary
and non-monetary rewards..
Employee performance management: Performance management is one of important
work of human resource management at Rolls-Royce as this activity ensures that organisation is
getting sufficient output from employees.
Purpose of human resource management

Human resource management play a crucial role in development of a business and
provides right type of employees to the business entity. There are various purposes of human
resource management for Rolls-Royce which are as follows:
Maintaining quality of work life: Human resource management helps a business to
formulate effective working environment (Farh, 2017). In today's competitive world every
organisation try hard to provide optimum working conditions to different employees in order to
increase productivity. Quality of work life is related to work freedom, job recognition,
belongingness, rewards of business.
Increase productivity and profit: HRM helps a Rolls-Royce to increase its revenue
generation and income by developing different techniques to manage large number of employees
(Gigauri, 2020). This also provide opportunity to employees in order to grow and advance their
carer. HRM provide training and development which helps to increase efficiency and
productivity of employees.
Make employees adaptable for change: Human resource management which is
working for Rolls-Royce also helps organisation by making employees more adaptable for
accepting changes (Barrena‐Martinez, López‐Fernández and Romero‐Fernández, 2019). Changes
in organisation is important as it helps to ensure long term survival of business which make them
to adaptable for changes and also allow them to accept changes in organisation.
Match demand and supply of human resource: Human resource management ensure
that Rolls-Royce is always having sufficient numbers of employees in order to develop business
activities and operations (Jiang and Li, 2019). The HR management of Rolls-Royce also helps
the company to meet demand and supply of employees in order to increase job satisfaction. Most
of the business organisations in corporate world hire professional and skilled human resource to
develop major policies of organisational functioning.

skills. It also assist in maintaining standards of performance also also enhance productivity of
