INTRODUCTIONHuman resource management refers to the process that helps in managing the work forcein the business organisation in effective way. The HRM focuses on increasing the productiveness& performance of the business organisation by improving working effectiveness of theemployees (Alfes and et. al., 2013). The present report is based on Sainsbury's, that operatestheir business functions in the retail sector in UK and is the third largest chain of supermarkets.This report defines how HRM practices are applied in work related context and in addition to thisit also justify the objective as well as functions of HRM practices which helps in effectivemanpower planning. Along with this, it also considers the benefits and challenges of differentfunction of HRM such as recruitment and selection and benefits of HRM practices for bothemployer as well as employee will be defined appropriately. It will also focus on the importanceof employee relation in Human resource management practice and Further, it elaborates theconsequence of employment laws & legislation on different practices of HRM. TASK 1P1HRM is defined as the responsibility of handling, managing and controlling workforce ofbusiness organisation in effective manner. The senior management team of Sainsbury's is requireto analyse the requirement of workforce which operates the business operations in appropriateway.The management of Sainsbury's organisation is required to arrange the training &development programs for the employees to increase their working efficiency to gain theorganisational objective. The business operations are expanded with the purpose of gaining alarge market share and to sustain for the long period of time. The functions performed by thebusiness organisation are as follows:Operations of Human Resource ManagementDevelopment and Training:Training is the procedure to evolve the performances of theemployees in the organisation. It leads in giving appropriate training to the workforce toincrease their abilities and result in creating success for the company (Banfield, Kay andRoyles, 2018). The senior management team of Sainsbury's is required to conducttraining programs for the existing workforce on regular period of time.

Recruitment and Selection:this duty of the department is to hire the suitable candidatesfor the jobs to carry out the business operations in effective manner. The selection of theworkforce depends on the requirement of the organisation with the particular skills. TheSainsbury's is required to analyse the actual demand of the employees in the organisationand then execute the selection process by which they can select the most worthycandidate among the pool of applicants.Purpose of HRM functionsCreating effective employee relations: The important aim of functions of HRM helps increating healthy relation between the employees in order to cut down the conflicts and toassist the workers to carry out business operations in more effective manner. The rolesand duty of the department is to indulge employees in the making decisions as this helpsin increasing the employee productivity as they think they are also important as alsoaffects in improving their team spirit as they think they are valuable assets for businessorganisation.Training and development:The objective of this function is to trained the workers inorder to increase their working capability in effective and efficient manner. Theresponsibilities of employers is to provide on job training as well as off job training totheir workers which is eradicate the conflicts and makes them efficacious in performingtheir duties.Human Resource Management approachesThe HRM department of any business organization, focuses on improving theproductivity of their workers which helps in achieving the desired goals as well as objectives oforganisation. The friendly working environment accompany in improving the conditions of thecompany and increase their productivity level (Bratton and Gold, 2017). The HRM departmentof sainsbury's carries out all effective strategies which helps in grasping the entire workforce oforganisation for long time frame. By adopting the appropriate approaches of HRM helps incaring out the duties and function effectively and efficiently in organization, the differentapproaches are described as under as follow: Soft approach: According to this approach the workers are treated as the priroty as wellas important assets to business organisation and also considered as very crucial element whichhelps gaining the sustainable advantage.
