Human resource management is a crucial part for an organisation andit deals with human relations of a company starting from recruitment to employees relations.Company that has been taken in this assignment is House of Frazer which is a retail organisationand was established in Glasgow, Scotland. The report will highlight the purpose and functions ofHRM which can be applicable to workforce planning (Abdelhak, Grostick and Hanken, 2014.).Apart form this, strengths and weaknesses of different approaches to recruitments and selectionprocess. Along with this, benefits of different HRM practice for both employee and employer isalso included in this report. Effectiveness of different HRM practices in order to increase theproductivity and profit is mentioned in this assignment.TASK 1P1 Purpose and functions of HRM for workplace planningHuman resource management is considered as an important element that is used in orderto provide employment so that development of people can be done. Thus, it can be said thatHRM is a practice through which company tries to maintain a better position at market area.Along with this, their prime role is to manage the employees relation so that a effective growthcan be seen. Therefore, the main purpose department of human resource department is to providea better environment where employees can sit and work properly. In context with House ofFrazer, human resource department is helping them in generating more and more revenues byproviding better services to its customers (Alfes and et al., 2013).Functions of Human Resource ManagementIn House of Frazer, the prime function of HR manager is to hire suitable candidates whocan help the organisation in running their business in an effective manner. Thus, some of themain functions that are performed by the department is mentioned below:Recruitment and selections procedures:It is considered as an main functions, throughthis process company try to hire eligible candidates who can fit best for the job. Therefore, workers will get to know about the roles and responsibilities they arerequired to do in the organisation.Employee relations management: In context with House of Frazer, they are conductingmeetings and seminars so that employees can interact with their superiors. This will help themin creating a transparency between both workers and seniors. Along with this, it will assist themin maintaining a healthy relations amongst all the members in an organisation.Training and learning sessions: In order to get effective result form workers it isimportant that company provides them proper training of the activities that are according to thecurrent market situations (Armstrong and Taylor, 2014). In context with employees through this,they will get a chance to improve the skills and knowledge.
