INTRODUCTION Human resource management refers to the process that an organisation follows in orderto manage and control the people working within company for achieving their set objectives. It isalso responsible for formulating policies as well as work with in organisation (Banfield, Kay andRoyles, 2018). The Colour Company is London based firm which provide high quality and fastturnaround printing services such as digital print, 3D print, online marketing etc. This reportelaborates about the purpose of HRM practices and different approaches of recruitment &selection along with its benefit to employer as well as employees. Further it explainseffectiveness of HRM in raising organisational productivity and profit. It also talks about theinfluence of employee relation and legislation over HR decision making. TASK 1P1 Functions and purpose of HRM applicable to workforce planning and resourcingDefinitions:Human resource management refers to the set of activities that are performed foreffective management of employees so that they help company to achieve competitiveadvantage. For example, the HR manager of Colour Company formulate action plan on whichemployees work in order to achieve set targets and their performance are regularly evaluated fordetermining the progress of plan.Human resource management is the practice of recruiting, hiring, managing andcontrolling the employees of organisation.Human resource management meant for the effective utilisation of skilled employeesworking within organisation for enhancing productivity and profit.It defines as the function in an organisation that focuses toward hiring, managing andproviding guidelines to manpower working within company.Goals:The purpose of HRM is to hire candidate with required skills and capabilities at right place forensuring the proper functioning and performance of organisation toward the accomplishment ofobjective (Bratton and Gold, 2017). The role of HR manager is to manage, create, supervise and formulate policies which aremandatory to follow for each employee working within the organisation. Line manager is a person who directly communicate with employees and their role is toensure that the policies formulated by the HR manager must function appropriately and inplanned manner.Hard vs soft:Hard managementSoft managementUnder this employee are considers as aresource of company such as machinery. Itfocuses on identifying the need of employees,recruiting and manage them as a machine forwork and not as a human. Soft management consider the emotional needof workers and treat them as an individual. Itfocuses on role, reward and motivations ofemployees to manage them accordingly.Functions of HRM:Following points describe about the major functions that are performed by hr manager withinthe colour companyPerformance management and evaluation: It refers to the process of regularly analysingthe work performed by employees and then compare the actual result with plannedperformance for enhancing the quality of work. HR manager of The Colour Companymust regularly evaluate the performance of employees for keeping them aligned andmotivated toward the targets.Reward management: It refer to the process of rewarding or appreciating the employeesover their better performance. HR manager of The Colour Company must reward itsemployees on regular basis in order to keep them motivated and satisfied with job.Employee Relations: HR manager is responsible for managing the better relation withemployees in order to keep them engaged and dedicated toward the accomplishment oforganisational goals.
