INTRODUCTIONHuman resource management refers to strategical approach which is used for efficientmanagement. In a company the overall workers can become productive and effective if the HRmanager does proper training and development program. In the company Kingfisher PLCbelongs to retail sector deal in home appliances and furnishing and garden supplies etc(HumanResource Management. 2018). The HR department generally design the overall process so thatthe productivity of an employee can be improved with an effective rate(Anderson, V, 2013).They also develop the strategic approach do improve the performance of an organisation. As anHR Manager of an organisation the explanation regarding the purpose and scope of anorganisation would be included in the report. Further some important elements that are used foreffective management of an organisation. The report would also analyse overall internal andexternal factors that are affecting the HRM. The assignment would also consider how the humanresource management apply various types of practises in an organisation to maintain its efficientmanagement. TASK 1P1 Functions and purpose of HRM Human resource management refers to critical part of any organisation. It is a veryimportant process in terms of workforce planning and resourcing as workforce is the basic norganisation ,without workforce or skilled manpower supply no organisation can functionproperly without any hindrance. The functions of HRM are:Retaining human resource:It is very important for an organisation to maintainexperienced and skilful manpower for the efficient and effective working of an organisation.Retaining the current manpower who are highly skilled is a measure that should be kept in the

mind as it is the best form by which a company can grow(Aswathappa K, 2013). This is also theleast time and funds consuming activity when compared to recruiting and training new people. Itcan be done by providing the employees rewards from time to time to keep them motivated.Ensuring effective management of people:It is a function of the HR department tomaintain a sound and healthy work environment in the organisation. Also an HR should becapable enough of solving disputes of the employees working in the company so that theworkforce is satisfied and content. Handling of disputes in an effective way ensures the efficientmanagement of people in an organisation. Co-ordination of organisation's workforce:HRM lays its stress on coordinatingpeople's need to help achieve specific business objectives, fulfil staffing needs as and whenrequired and maintain the interest of the employees in the working(Brewster C and HegewischA, 2017). For this HR manager uses many techniques, processes and other people focussing onthe internal environment.People as a resource:According to HRM theory, people or employees in an organisationare treated as the most important asset of an organisation as no organisation will be able tofunction without its manpower resource. HRM is considerably helps in building the goodrelationship with the employees and to enhance or improve organisational performance withinthe specific period of time.HR managers lay their focus on the various aspects such as quantitative,qualitative and strategicaspects to efficiently manage human resource management in an efficient and systematic way.Employee level: At an individual level, major role of HR manager is to ensure thatoverall experience of employees during HR life cycle is managed effectively. The first step thatthe HR takes is to attract the right employees. Talent accessibility is done by the use ofperformance appraisals and then reward is provided to them according to theirperformance(Cascio and Boudreau, 2010). HR may sometimes also administer payroll andemployee benefits,although some companies may today outsource these activities but sometimesin some organisations the HR keeps a check on monthly basis or so.In these above mentioned ways, the HR manager keeps a record of the activities ongoingin the organisation and keeping a track record of the entire people working within anorganisation and keep them timely motivated as well as inspired to work in a team in a healthyworking environment(Chelladurai and Kerwin, 2017).HR professionals need to keep an

understanding of each and every activity happening in an organisation especially the manpower,as well as they also analyse the skills and the level of competition required by the individualswho carry out the tasks assigned to them.Workforce planning is the process in which the overall priorities and needs of the specificorganisation are access and then the overall all rules and regulation are met so that theorganisational objective can be met easily.While the succession planning is the process by which we can overall identify anddevelop the newer leader that can take place to the position of a old leader. This increases theavailability of the new and experience of new workers and also shows the roles andresponsibilities that the worker have to perform in the work in process. P2 Strength and weakness of recruitmentEvery business organization wants to select best and capable candidate within thebusiness organization to attain their set goals and objectives. In this company needs to find thebest talent for executing business activities with the aim of achieving positive outcomes thatdirectly contribute in making performance of the company competitive at market place. Forattaining the same, company needs to select and recruit capable workers by using appropriatemethods which can be understood by following points:Recruitment It overall process of short-listing, selecting and appointing appropriate candidates forjobs within an organisation is considered as recruitment. It also involves choosing an individualfor unpaid roles(CHUANG and Liao, 2010). It main aim is to create jobs for the large number ofemployee's. In this present report the chosen organisation Kingfisher PLC has already recruitingemployee's through online recruiting.There are two types of recruitment :Internal:It is the recruitment process in which an organisation looks to fill the vacancy with it'sexisting workforce. According to Kingfisher PLC they are now adopting best internalrecruitment approach to make their workforce efficient(Daley, D.M, 2012). It is an best suited tohave an insider's view and to increase loyalty of staff members. There are two mechanism ininternal recruitment process to identify qualities of a candidate .i.e. formal and informal. The
