INTRODUCTION
Human resource management is defined as the procedure of finding out individuals,
selecting them in terms of their effective talents, providing them training and certain type of
benefits in order to maintain effective relationship with all employees. It involve many things
like promoting the brand, managing the process of recruitment and selection, providing training
to them and so on(Greer, 2021). The below report includes necessary functions and main
purpose of management, various type of strengths and weakness of all approaches, advantages
of HRM practices in context with both employer and employee, effectiveness of different
practices, value of employee relations, certain elements of employment legislation and
application of HRM practices. The below report is based on The Ritz hotel. It is a grade II five
star hotel located in London. The hotel is one of the most generous and best known. It was
founded by Cesar Ritz in 1906.
TASK 1
P1 What is the main purpose and necessary functions of HRM with respect to workforce
planning as well as resourcing an organization
The intention of HRM is mainly to make a job and deal with all workers been recruited
in the particular job. It is very essential to determine effective and correct person for the job
who can enable all roles and responsibilities in efficient way. It is further been explained as
below:-
Employees selection:- It is defined as the roles and responsibility of human resource
manager to select the most impressive employees. Workers must be selected on the basis
of their knowledge with respect to organization. In accordance with The Ritz hotel, they
select those employees who have good knowledge regarding the hotel roles and
responsibilities and can built a better customer satisfaction.
Internal and External recruitment:- In terms of internal recruitment is in context with to
fill various vacancies within the organization. In terms of external recruitment it is in
relation with to fill vacancies which are outside the organization. Both of them have
certain strengths and weaknesses( Liu, Qingqing and Liu, 2021). In context with The

Ritz hotel, they followed the strategy of external recruitment and they did it with the help
of social media.
Organization development:- It is in context with to help employees in terms of better
level of effectiveness by making different strategies, making improvements in the
organization and making changes if it is necessary. In context with the Ritz hotel, they
applied the concept of proper operations management and franchise.
There are different functions which are further been explained as below:- Selection and recruitment:- In terms of the process recruitment it refers to the
process of searching for people in relation with completing all vacancies and
encourage them to apply for job. Organizations do recruitment so that they can
motivate those individuals who have good amount of knowledge so that they can
achieve goals and objectives. In context with the process of selection it means to
identify the most suitable candidates from all recruited ones according to skills and
talents. Organizations follow the process of selection so that they can select necessary
individuals.
Performance management:- It is defined as the procedure of ensuring that all
objectives are been achieved in a good manner. An organization performance can
only be good if there is effective conversation been done between both employer and
employee. The main reason behind it is to enhance performance, achieve all goals
and increase the level of customer satisfaction.
P2 Advantages and disadvantages of different approaches to recruitment and selection Recruitment:- There are two type of approaches involved in recruitment and these are
internal and external. In terms of the process of internal recruitment it means to find
persons within the organization only. There are many ways through internal recruitment
is done like promotions, transfers and so on. External recruitment refers to select
individuals from outside the organization to fill vacancies( Garg and et.al, 2021). It is
done with the help of advertisements and many more. Internal recruitment is effective
because time is not consumed much as it is done within the organization only but new
employees are not searched as there may be more talented people outside so it is a

disadvantage for them. In terms of the Ritz hotel, they use the method of external
approach through which they use the way of print media in which advertisements are
given in newspapers due to this they got more talented people.
Selection:- There are various approaches of selection which are interviews and online
screening. In context with the process of interviews, conversation is been done in which
certain questions are been asked by employer and candidate has to answer all of them. It
is beneficial because the attitude of person towards job can be analyzed well but person
may not tell the truth due to which they may not perform in effective way. In context with
online screening, it refers to per-employment tests that determine whether the person is
good for job or not. It is an effective method but it also consumes more time. The Ritz
hotel used method of interviews in which two to three rounds are been conducted.

P3 Advantages of various HRM practices with respect to an organization for both employee and
employer For employee:- In any company employees should have the feeling that they are
receiving all kind of advantages so that they feel encouraged and perform with more
efficiency( Collins, 2021). There are various type of benefits like lifestyle benefits, at
work, financial security and many more. In context with benefits at work, it involve
development of skills, working hours, the leaves which they get and so on. If they receive
such benefits they will get attracted very much. In context with lifestyle benefits the
organizations offers them with both mobility as well as work life balance. If an employee
wants to do work from home then they should get benefit as many employees would feel
happy through this policy. Employees should also get certain additional benefits also. As
in context with The Ritz hotel, employees were been provided with accident insurances,
health insurance and many more.
For employer:- The advantages which an employer gets in terms of all human resource
management practices are like training and development, planning for change and many
more( Ansari, Farrukh and Raza, 2021). In context with planning for change it was

effective for employers because as technology gets updated in organizations employers
feel more efficient in comparison with competitors. In case of managing good relations
they gets an advantage of applying a right HRM system which gives them to maintain
better relation with all employees.
P4 Evaluation of various HRM practices in context with raising organizational profit and
productivity Alignment is key:- In context with an organization it is very necessary that all goals as
well as mission are effectively been aligned and it can be only possible if workers has
understood the organization very well. The goal of any type of company must be that
correct people are been selected for the job and at the right time. In context with The Ritz
hotel, they aligned all their teams with the method of good segmentation. They always
selected right candidates for their job and with the help of social media creates
investment.
Stigma as a cost center:- In certain situations it happens that effective communication
doesn’t takes place due to which many conflicts get arise in between both senior
executives and all employees but in terms of The Ritz hotel, there was good level of
communication and coordination which led them as one of the best known hotel as
effective management was been done.
Proper engagement:- It is very necessary that engagement between employees must be
there as they should feel generous and encouraged towards their job roles and
responsibilities and should feel happy( Flynn, Valentine and Meglich, 2021). An
employee engagement can get enhanced with the help of giving rewards, incentives and
so on. In terms of The Ritz hotel, they used Ritz-Carlton strategy in order to understand
the value of each employee.

P5 Determine the importance of employee relations in order to influence decision making
In terms of healthy employee relations lead to the most motivated and dedicated workers
which creates an importance in terms of making the organization more efficient in relation with

all operational activities through increase level of sales. Employees also have certain
expectations from organization that they will receive a healthy and safe working environment,
better treatment in context with paying statement of all employees with the help of human
resource management system. When there is good level of employee relation it develops the
quality in HRM decision making due to this employee who are involved in the process of
decision making fells more confident and encouraged towards the management cause as they get
the opportunity for sharing their thoughts and perceptions with respect to specific activity which
will be offered to them in their near future. The procedure of sharing their thoughts and all work
related matters will enhance the level of work quality and also enable good and effective
relationship between all employees. The relationship between workers leads to an easy decision
making which provides them an effective report that is needed in an organization.
In case of The Ritz hotel, they provide different hospitality services right from their
hotels as well as lodging facilities( Boselie, Van Harten and Veld, 2021). As they deal in hotels
so it becomes necessary for them to take care of all decisions been made by human resource
management as all kind of operational activities are tackled by them only. Due to better
hospitality services employee relations enhance the decision making process also as each worker
share their views and what should be done in hotel. A good human resource management system
is necessary as to make decisions with respect to operational activities. As The Ritz hotel is one
of the best known organization so they have to involve their workers in the process of decision
making. It is further been explained as below:-
It becomes easy to work in an organization when there is a healthy relation between
workers and a positive work environment. While sharing the work load it leads to
enhanced productivity level, when roles and responsibilities gets divided within all
workers it leads to proper working conditions( Úbeda-García and et.al, 2021). Due to all
these aspects it becomes easy for human resource management also to enable certain
decisions for the organization. In case of The Ritz hotel, all work is divided equally
which becomes beneficial for both organization as well as for employees to enhance their
value.
As they are dealing in hospitality services for all consumers it leads to impact on HRM
decisions also because they had to be dependent on their employees performance level

Employment legislation is defined as the relation within all laws and regulations that
involves employee rights act, equal pay act as well as sexual discrimination act that is in context
with gender inequality, common act and national minimum wage act which are in terms of
disability discrimination. These all aspects had to comply by organization or during the process
of making any decisions of human resource management. In context with The Ritz hotel, they
also need to follow all employment legislations that impact their decisions. It is further been
explained as below:-
Equal employment opportunity:- It is defined as the principle which need to be followed
in every organization and it deals within each individual with respect to certain elements
like race, gender and so on( Shaw, 2021). Equal opportunity must be given based on
their merit system where individuals would be selected on the basis of their talents. They
should be given equal chance. In terms of The Ritz hotel, they also had to follow this
approach while making their decisions.
Wages and Remuneration:- The main motive behind following this approach is to
provide fair wages to all workers as per the working law considerations and they must be
given equal remuneration also. It is basically considered as a type of compensation which
is provided to employees in their form of their salary. All decisions must be made by
following this legislation act.
