Introduction
It is reported that the rate of imprisonment in women has been dramatically growing
in both worldwide locations as well as Australia over the past few years (Tickner 2018). In
this context, rising discrimination against women might help to report their growing numbers
in the system of criminal justice that is also a concern in its own human right. Exploring into
the aspect of NSW and other parts of the world it is evident that women are increasingly
turning in to subjects of direct as well as indirect discrimination based on their sex, race and
abuses, court and prison systems.
However, changes within the legalisation and activities present within the system
over the period of last years have negatively influenced a specific group of people,
particularly on poor and racially connoted women. The essay aims to argue, that there are
several human right cases of abuse, which influence the women more than anything does.
It has been seen that thousands of women house cleaners from all over the world
continue to be tortured and taken to Saudi Arabia with a sheer promise of established jobs
instead they are tortured and abused by the employers. Similar to these thousands of other
women who went for work as a house cleaner in the United Kingdom and Australia have
been typically abused and mentally tortured (NewsComAu 2018).
Discussion
The International Centre for Research on Women is carrying out a three years
continuous research session that started in the year 1997 based on domestic violence in India
in collaboration with a range of researchers. In this context, there are almost 53 million
domestic female workers in a global scenario and almost 21.5 million working in South East
Asia (NewsComAu. 2018). However, in spite of the small number of migrant domestic
workers in Australia, there are several adverse cases related to exploitation of domestic house

cleaners in Australia. This issue has increased in the current years. However, Hodge and
Rayda (2018) state that the Australian government has taken a leadership responsibility for
protecting human trafficking, including the wellbeing of the domestic workers in the global
scenario. On the contrary, Rich (2018) reported through a systematic review of Human rights
in Correctional services for the federally sentenced female population that presented various
rectifying policies and practices that discriminated against women based on the sex, race and
disability. Chonghaile (2018) reported that there is more than a million number of domestic
maids who are working in Saudi Arabia taken from Australia for making them work in the
world’s largest oil exporting company.
According to the accessible statistics on domestic violence received from all around
the globe, one out of each of the three women has experienced violence while dealing with
the household relationship at a certain point of time (Broderick 2018). However, there are
very few studies that are available that indicates physical abuse of domestic women ranging
from 22% to almost 60 women that are being surveyed (NewsComAu 2018). In this, most of
the studies that are available consists of information related to the qualitative results of a
limited size of the sample. In this regards, the only large-scale data that have achieved are
related to crimes caused against the women reported by the National Crimes Record Bureau.
The records in this context show that there is a 71.5% increase in the incident of torture and
dowry during the era of 1991 to 1995 that may even reflect growing reporting of violence
(Icrw.org. 2018).
Rosario (2018) states that the definition of domestic violence can be a wide based on
a focused or targeted issue. However, domestic violence is a frequent perception of abuse
against adult women that is constricted to physical harm usually within a marital relationship.
On the contrary, to this, King (2016) argued stating that this perception may conquer a broad
universe of understanding about the presence of women who belong from nuclear families. It

has a definition that extends to multiple definitions across culture. Causing violence and
abusing household workers are also a type of domestic violence within household
surroundings. These concepts are more inclusive about the experiences of all the women.
Most of the working labours who are being sent to countries like Pakistan, Sri Lanka
and the Philippines have been a subject of abuse and poor health (ReliefWeb 2018). This is
because they are hardly equipped with the socio-cultural psychological ailments for tracking
the complicacies of the worldwide marketplace. There are millions of girls and women
around the globe that are employed as domestic works in different private householder just
like Lisao. They are given the responsibility to clean, cook, take care of children, supervising
the elder employees and need to perform the essential task for their employers. Despite their
hard work and struggle, they become subject of the violation of human rights and abuse that
impact their life as a woman.
In this regards, the right organisation shows that several domestic workers have to
work in difficult circumstances and they often suffer from abuses by employers. For instance,
an incident reported a death of a 21-year-old Indonesian house cleaner who has been
allegedly tortured by her Malaysian employers. An incident highlighted widespread abuses
that are usually faced by different overseas workers across various location. In this case,
Hodge and Rayda (2018) argued that Ms Lisao who was a house cleaner died due to multiple
organ failure, where the woman was found lying by the floor of a porch with several head and
face injuries. The employer of the house cleaner was a 60-year-old woman and her adult son
as well daughter.
Despite that, developments made for protecting the overseas workers, the predicament
of such women such as Lisao remains unsolved. Existing social insurance schemes tend to set
out on several other contingencies that impact upon the overseas house cleaner workers.
