Production and Selling of Tobacco Must Be Made Illegal
Tobacco refers to any product prepared from the leaves of tobacco plants that are cured.
There are several species of Tabaco, however, the main species used for commercial use is the N
tabacum and N Rustica that is used around the world. The plant is used industrially to make
cigarettes that are smoked widely across the world (Shifflett, Watson, McNally, & Bezabeh,
2018).
Tobacco is grown in north and south America, Europe Africa and china. It requires warm
and dry conditions with a duration of 3 to 4 months that involves transplanting and harvest, it is
best harvested on dry conditions, in case of excess water the plants will become thin and flaky.
The industry has created some means to earn ern a living starting from farmers who grow and
sell it, tobacco manufacturers, to the workers who work in these industries all the up to the
retailers of tobacco products. however, despite all these, tobacco production and selling have had
adverse effects on health making it an epidemic that has brought in international bodies like
World Health Organization (WHO) to address some serious health issues arising from tobacco
usage (Vidhubala, Pisinger, Basumallik, & Prabhakar, 2016). This in return has led to campaigns
against the production and selling of tobacco with the demand of making it illegal, the following
are some of the reasons for the illegalization of production and selling of tobacco (England,
Bunnell, Pechacek, Tong, & McAfee, 2015).
Cigarettes which are products of tobacco have many adverse effects on the body which
can lead to life-threatening situations which are listed below:
Lung damage
you smoke cigarette you not only breath in nicotine but also other additional chemicals,
cigarette smoking increases your chance of getting lung cancer,9 out of 10 lung cancer
