EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Diabetes is known as chronic disease which is usually occur when the blood of the glucose that is
also known as the blood sugar is relevantly high. In this, the sugar of the blood is important
component which is must taking into the aspect of monitoring because they usually create the
number of chance to having the risk of diabetes. The blood glucose is usually the main source of
the energy and they are usually coming from the food that an individual used to take. In addition,
insulin is also a hormone which is secreted from the pancreas that help glucose from the food get

INTRODUCTION
Half of the people is used to face the risk of diabetes within UK while taking the contrast of older
person. In this, United Kingdom have a wide range of factor which may create issue with people
for the diabetes. Moreover, the people are lived with diabetes in the UK are aged over 65 years
and a quarter are over 75. Hence, it is also analysing that the 10 percent of the people are aged
over the 75 years and they have approx. 14 percent of those age over the 85 years with the
diabetes. It is well estimated that the 33 percent of the adult are used to age of 65 years or the
older are facing the issue of diabetes (Cooke, Daskalopoulou, and Dasgupta, 2018). Moreover, it
also analyses that the population is usually more associated with the risk of the developing
diabetes related issue or the complication which is majorly named as hypoglycaemia that is low
sugar of blood, the chance of kidney failure and heart disease than younger people with the
diabetes. The major of the complication in the diabetes are attempting risk over the age of 65
years which may generate some of the aspect which create life threatening issue in such
circumstance. The report usually covers about the study that related with the concept, causes, risk
factor, impact and possible intervention or issue to minimise the arising complication with
diabetes (Corbett, and Smith, 2021).
RATIONALE OF THE STUDY
The study is used to focus on the context of diabetes which is majorly seen as a rising case
in the global level. While taking the contrast of UK, it is also analysing that the people over the
age of 65 years facing issue with diabetes. The research helps to develop knowledge and
education that is associated with the tendency of diabetes and their intervention that focus on
personal and professional development. In addition, the professional development means the
knowledge and study is usually productive when the individual is linked with any course such as
nursing, medical and so on. It helps to play useful role in the development of professional aspect
that provide support and care to the number of people using the context of knowledge which is
related with diabetes. Therefore, the personal development is also make sense when the
participation is being taken within the research, it helps to formulate the knowledge which may
act as education for the future concern which may be happen with someone or themselves. The
education plays key role to implement strategies and intervention to reduce the complication that
is related with the diabetes (Ghasemi, Hosseini, and Sabouhi, 2019).

LITERATURE REVIEW
Concept of diabetes among the older person in UK
Half of the people are used to face the issue of diabetes in UK who is over the age of 65 years
and they have quarter over the 75 years. The majority of the people are usually facing the issue
of randomised control trail that involve the treatment and the outcome of the patients with the
aspect of diabetes that is older people. there are some of the key consideration that elaborate 14
percent of the older person living diabetes over the age of 85 years. Some key fact includes:
Due to the context of diabetes, the life expectancy is reduced by 10 years (Horton, 2018).
The 5 percent of the NHS budget is spent on the diabetic patient to reduce their
complication.
The prevalence used to show some of the aspect which is related with the context of
obesity and overweight which may lead to create the issue of diabetes.
It is also analysing that the enhance rate of diabetes show the prevalence in the middle
age that resulted in the aspect of complication in the older age and they are continuality
phase on increases of cases among the older person.
The coronary heart disease mortality is usually fives time higher and stroke that is
showing the three times higher risk than the non-diabetic populations.

The diabetes is usually defined as the leading cause of both renal failure and blindness in
the people working in such age and the second cause of the lower limb amputation.
Diabetes is usually independent and show the risk for the admission within the care home
which is based on British (Diabetes, 2018).
Causes and effect of diabetes among the older person in UK
In this, the diabetes is usually divided into two type that is type 1 diabetes and type 2
diabetes. The major cause of type 1 diabetes is unknown. In this, the immune system is basically
show the normal fights which is based on harmful bacteria and virus attack and usually disturb
the flow of insulin that is produce from the pancreas. It usually leaves with the individual with no
insulin. Instead of this, the sugar is being built in the blood stream. In addition, the type 1
diabetes is usually caused due to the genetic susceptibility and the factor which is based on the
environment. Therefore, the obesity and overweight does not count as the factor in the type 1
diabetes (Mattioli, Nasi, Cocchi, and Farinetti, 2020).
The prediabetes that used to create the issue of type 2 diabetes. In this type of diabetes, the
cell of the body become more resistant to the action of insulin and they used to hold the pancreas
that is unable to make enough insulin which is become resistant. For instance, the environmental
and genetic factor is used to show the role in the development of type 2 diabetes. Whereas, the
overweight and obesity is also main aspect for the type 2 diabetes (Diabetes Complications,
2021).
There are some of effect and impact on the individual body that is related with diabetes.
These are majorly including:
Cardiovascular risk
Peripheral arterial risk
Co-morbidities and functional impairment
Visual loss
Foot care
Frailty
Ways and strategies used to minimise the impact of diabetes among the older person in UK
In order to reduce the impact of the intervention and treatment which is related with the lifestyle
intervention in the form of diet and they have weight loss which is recommended in the treatment
of diabetes, there are some of the minimal evidence which is taken place in older person.

Working with the professional who used to take of the target of HbA1c of the 6.5 percent of may
be impractical and even they are dangerous in the group and they are show the treatment plan
which is based on each patients (Diabetes Mellitus, 2021). As per the European diabetes working
party guidelines have shown the revised guideline to suggest the target the HbA1c of the aspect
<7.0% for the elderly with the minimal with the aspect of co-morbidities and they have <8.0
percent for the frail elderly. In addition, the goals of treatment which is needed to the tailored
with the aspect of individual that usually involve with the patients and the caregiver and they
usually taking the thing in such a way which raise the factor such as level of disability, life
expectancy and more which show the adherence towards the treatment (Mirzaei, Rahmaninan,
Mirzaei, and Nadjarzadeh, 2020).
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Search strategy
The search strategy is defined as the aspect which is allow the researcher to provide the way that
they used to collect data. In addition, as per provided topic the major of data and information will
be usually gather from the springer link, science direct, PubMed and many more search tool will
be used to gather the data or information. Therefore, the selection and collection of the data and
information require aspect which is usually followed in such a way which help to gather more
information with reliable search strategy (Rodriguez‐Mañas and et. al., 2019).
Database used
With the appropriate data collection, with the reference with the article and Journals which is
validated for the research question is usually selected and collected through the database. In this,
the database is usually collection of article, Journals, peer reviewed article which play role in the
extraction of data. In addition, the PubMed central, Cochrane library, EMBASE and many more
database are used to collect the data and information which is relevant to the selected research
topic.
Data collection method
In this, the secondary method is used to extract the data, the secondary method is referring as the
data and information is collected from the article, journals and so on which is written by other
author but they are reliable in the holding the less time to extract the as compared with the
primary method.

Research choice
The research choice is used to explain about the different aspect which include quantitative and
qualitative data collection choice. It is preliminary for the research process in order to clear that
the data is usually follow numeric, statistic or concept and theory or both. In addition, this
research process follows the mixed method which is focus on the both of aspect for the collection
of data and information (Strain and et. al., 2018).
FINDING AND ANALYSIS
The finding of the research is used to explain about the concept of diabetes that affect the wide
range of older person in the selected region which is UK. In addition, due to inappropriate
lifestyle and diet plan can configure the issue that lead to cause the issue of overweight and
obesity and other associated risk. Moreover, the obesity is the major of cause of diabetes
especially for the type 2 diabetes. In addition, the people of the UK used to follow quick lifestyle
pattern which trigger the context of overweight and obesity that create difficulty of diabetes.
However, the diabetes is chronic disease when they are show combine effect with the other
disease which include diabetes with cardiovascular disease, diabetes with hypercholesterolemia,
diabetes with hypertension, diabetes with hyperproteinaemia and many more. Therefore, it is
essential to follow some of the change in lifestyle that lead to create healthy lifestyle can reduce
the arising complication in the older person within UK.
RECOMMENDATION AND CONCLUSION
