ABSTRACT
Information technology plays important role in the retail organization to increase the productivity
and profitability in global world. It also beneficial to save the time as well as money for the
customers. The purpose of information technology to increase the productivity and profitability
in marketplace. IT system has been evolved for maintain the services of hospitality industry. This
report has been discussed about the information management system to handle and manage the
business operations and function in effective manner.

1.Introduction
Information technology is the basically used for the business process to transmit, store and
retrieve all the data and information in proper manner. IT system is mainly considered the subset
of information communication technology to increase the efficiency and performance. Hilton
hotel is based on the retail business to use IT system to increase the productivity of business
process all over the world. This report will discuss about the specific role of information
technology and also identify t he their success and failure of organization. This assignment will
describe the social and ethical issues that pertain the business process. Furthermore, this report
will describe the different type of network technology that applicable in the organization. It also
differentiates between the technology to analyse the need and requirement of enterprise.
1.1 Purpose
The main purpose of information technology to increase the competition in the business world. It
is an essential for Hilton hotel to maintain their luxury requirements. In this way, this hotel will
increase the profitability in marketplace.
1.2 Background
The information technology is evolved after the design and development of computer which
developed in the rapidly within school, offices in 1951. In the computer system, it is used the
programming language to perform different operations and functions. It also useful for store the
collection of information in effective manner. Nowadays, Information technology is developed
by using programming language that used the codes. In 1960, the first computer program has
been created with the help of mathematics (Benitez and et.al., 2018). The concept of interpreter
and compiler become possible through the computers. This program is useful for translating into
the machine language.
In this way, there are different areas to use the information technology for increasing the
capabilities and abilities such as hotel, restaurant, schools, office etc. The advancement of
technology is more complicated because it is based on the instruction. It is necessary for people
to understand the knowledge of business process. In this way, There are many scientists and

engineer, business analyst to use the information technology for developing the business process
all over the world.
2. Literature Review
2.1 About business, their services, competitive strategy etc
According to Cao, (2018). Hilton hotel is planning an effective business strategy that help
for maintain their services in marketplace. Information technology is an essential for business to
differentiate their services on the basis of quality, price and maintaining the highest level of
standards. Digital hospitality is main source of hotel competitive advantages.
According to Hazen and et.al., (2018). Business strategy also relies on the basis of
international expansion. It has noted that business strategy and planning focus towards the
services. Many hotels have been invested lot money for maintain the business operations and
function. In this way, it will help for increasing the competitive advantages in marketplace.
2.2 Information Technology and its role in retail business
According to author, information technology is the best part of retail business to manage
the services and quality in effective manner. It is used for business process to provide the facility
to the customer whereas they easily check the availability of rooms and prices by using online.
Hilton hotel is also used the digital concept to increase the popularity in marketplace. This
organisation will use the technology to take positive or negative feedback to the guest. In this
way, it is required for identifying their experiences in the hotel.
2.3 Networking Technology, different types
Network technology is a based on the services that allow for exchange the information between
large information system to small. Each and every department of hotel connect to network and
share the details from one place to another. Network involves for assessing the administrative
and need of informational in the organization. There are different type of network technology
present in the organization categorize in different ways according to their size and requirements.
Personal area network- this network is based on the computer to organize around the
individual people in the building.
Local area network- It is consists of computer network at particular single site. It is
useful for exchanging the information from one resource to another.
Metropolitan area network- this network is basically contain the large number of
hardware system to connect within college, campus and entire city.

Wide area network- It consists of wide areas to share the information from one city to
another. It is based on the country and entire world. This network will contain small network
inside such as MAN and LAN etc.
According to Shi, and et.al., (2018). Hilton is mainly used the local area network for
transmitting the data from one part to another. It is a flexible or reliable network for organization
to maintain the services in proper manner. This network is also fast and secure connection to
organization without encryption.
2.4 Ethics and Social Issues by using technology
Ethical and Social issues are necessary for each and every organization to maintain their
facilities and service in proper manner. On the other hand, There are large number of unethical
site is increasing every day and it is easy for people to access or check the details/. Unethical
sites are dangers for people and generate high risk such as social dilemmas, sexual behaviour etc.
According to Babu and Manukonda, (2018). it is necessary for people to check the legal aspects
of company and then access the site. Unauthorized access has been done by the hackers whereas
hacker has the most challenge against the information technology ethics and violations.
Nowadays, the ethical issues affect the information technology and it is an essential for creating
an effective strategy or planning.
3. Analysis and Discussion

Information technology is one of the major contribution to the nation for development of
countries. In Hilton hotel, The manager has knowledge about the internet services to provide the
option to the customer such as online booking, reservations etc. there are different type of
information technology role in the Hilton hotel (Babu and Manukonda, 2018)
Reservation system- It is beneficial for customer to book the hotel room by using website
and application. This information system will help for consumer to make reservation and also
compare with the prices.
Mobile Communication- In Hilton hotel, the consumer always update the changes in the
hospitality business with the help of mobile communication. They directly communicate with the
manager to inquiry regarding the availability of rooms, booking etc. The manger also send the
best offers delay notices, sponsor location based on the advertisements etc.

Room technology services- Many traveller carries different type of devices, wireless
internet connection which help for people to access the information. It is required for Hilton
hotel to provide the facilities to their guest to use the hotel application and access the room
services through offline and online mode.
3.1.1 Types of different Information Systems that are used in selected business like Management
Information System, Decision Support Systems etc.
Information system support the business operations, decision making and management
system to manage the performance of Hilton hotel (Arora, Haleem and Farooquie, 2018) nations
and function in effective manner.
Management information system- It is a collection of data, procedure, people and
information technology that manager plan a strategy according to the requirement. It is necessary
for organization to make decision regarding the development of business all over the world. It is
beneficial for providing the best facilities to the customer to communicate with the employee to
identify the information. In Hilton, staff member easily access the information through website
to check the operation of day by day (McKenzie, Burt and Dukeov, 2018). The purpose of
management information system to handle the complexity with the help of computer system
because it can be performed different operations and function regarding the business process.
MIS system is beneficial for Hilton hotel to perform different functions such as operates online
system creating dynamic report and analysing the data etc. These are provided the services to the
customer to easily check the services and also communicate with the staff members. Manager is
playing important role to communicate with the customer through website and identifying
requirement. This system will guide to the manager for taking right decision regarding growth
and development of enterprises.
Decision support system- A decision support system is based on the computer application
that analyse information and presented in proper manner whereas the user easily make the
important decision related to the enterprises. The important information that support the decision
application to gather all necessary information in effective manner.
Knowledge management system- This system will comprise different range of practices
that applicable in the firm to easily determine, distribute, create and adopt the strategies
according to the experience. The Purpose of knowledge management system to improve the
performance, competitive advantages, sharing of knowledge and integration etc.

Transaction management system- Transaction management system is generally
processing for purpose of enterprises transaction that involves for collection. Retrieval and
modification of all the transaction data in proper manner. It is the real time processing to handle
the business aspects in effective manner. This management system will use for the operational
management to record all type of transaction information in effective manner.
3.2 Ethics and social issues in selected business
Information system is the best part of retail business to increase the productivity and
profitability in marketplace. However, The improper use of information technology system
create more problem for the business process in the Hilton hotel. There are many criminals
gaining to access the information of credit card so that it affect the financial loss of the
owner(Kasemsap, 2018). There are different type of information system application in the
business to handle their operations. On the other hand, Cyber crime is the most common threat in
the organization that can be hacked the data with the help of information technology. The
increasing the growth of mobile phones and other advanced devices that easy for attackers to
access the information. For Example- Phishing is also fake website that affect the entire
information of companies through emails etc.
3.3 Networking types in selected business
According to discussion, Hilton hotel uses the Local area network that provided the
security and safety to the entire organization. It is needed for business to protect their sensitive
information to the hackers (Duan,Cao and Edwards, 2018). This retail business is adopted the
local areas because it is reliable, secure and flexible for customer. Users are using to build the
strong connectivity between the smartphones and LAN. It is the fastest speed and efficient to
create a positive impact towards the users. In this way, this hotel will increase the productivity
and profitability in marketplace.

4. Findings
Information technology plays important role in the hotel industry to promote their services in
marketplace by using website or applications. According to analysis, It is recommended that IT
system is beneficial for Hilton hotel to increase the demand in the market due to the information
technology.

number of chain that used IT system to increase their demand in every year.

RECOMMENDATION AND CONCLUSION
As per discussion, it concluded that information technology is the based on the
enterprises process to manage the important information in effective manner. It also useful for
store and transmit data from one place to another. According to the discussion, it is
recommended the information technology system to handle the business operations and function
in proper manner. Hilton hotel is based on the retail business to use IT system to increase the
productivity of business process all over the world. This report describes the specific role of
information technology that applied in the business to increase the productivity and profitability.
This report describes the different type of network technology that applicable in the organization.
Furthermore, It also differentiates between the technology to analyse the need and requirement of
enterprise. This assignment describes the social and ethical issues that pertain the business
process.
