1. Introduction For service sector companies the application of IT tools has grown in a significant manner overthe years, and to the point that it is an absolute necessity that businesses in this sector do havethis ability in its optimal form. This report is going to discuss the case of Farmfoods, a retailbusiness from the UK, in which it will be discussed as how the IT tools have been instrumentalfor the company’s operations, and this discussion will be based upon a comprehensive literaturereview that will be presented in a general context. 2. Literature review 2.1 Information Technology and its role in service sector business in general The nature of business operations in the service sector has been completely reshaped by theprogress made in the field of information technology. As observed by Yazici et al. (2017), thewidespread use of IT platforms between the service providers and their clients, has rendered thistype of digital capability for a service sector companies an absolute must for ensuring theirconnections with the consumer market remain vibrant and functioning. It can be said, dependingupon the prowess of IT tools, modern service sector companies have been able to collect theircustomer feedback data in a real time manner, and this has enabled them to predict futureconsumer behaviourism in a more efficient manner.
