INTRODUCTIONSocial workers are defined as the professionals which are concerned with the groups,families and individuals so that their issues can be resolved for improving the well-being andquality of life of their patients. The role of social workers becomes more dominant whileproviding care to the older adults or the patients above age of 59 years. These people mayrequired increasing level of physical as well as emotional assistance in controlled environment sothat their safety can be assured (Greene, 2017). However different cultural value, background, ethnicity as well as identity of socialworkers can influence their ability to make proper judgement as and decisions for their patient.The study will provide a systematic review protocol to analyse the impact of these factor on carefor older adults. The study background, rationale and hypothesis described by systematic reviewis vital for integrating transparency and accuracy in the research. TITLE The impact of social workers' identity on their practice and decision-making whileworking with older adults. RESEARCH QUESTION How does the identity of social workers influence their quality of services and practiceswhile providing services to older adults. How social worker training can be improved by addressing cultural and other identityissues. STUDY BACKGROUND Modern culture plays a vital role in supporting and providing care services to olderadults. The main aim of this study is to analyse the impacts of social workers influences ondecision-making process while working with older adults. It is important for social workers topcome from a different backgrounds with the main aim of providing satisfactory services to olderadults. It can be understand that cultural competencies of social workers can have a greatestimpacts on providing care services to older adults. Nowadays, modern social workers do notunderstand the importance of cultural beliefs and importance of religion and it makes the hugedifference between older and modern adults.
It can also be understand that with the help of understanding cultural issues socialworkers training can be improved. By improving training, social workers can provide better andsatisfactory services to older adults. Social workers do not understand social beliefs and culturalaspects of older adults and that is why they lack in providing satisfactory care services to them.So it can be said that understand cultural diversity plays an important role for modern socialworkers in order to increase effectiveness of care plan.RATIONALE Cultural competencies of social workers plays an important role in encouraging them toprovide care services with more sensitivity and awareness. It is expected and required that theseservice providers must be able to understand the diversity of beliefs, spirituality, attitudes andneeds of patients from various cultures. However, this is not possible without evaluating theidentity aspects of the social workers. The social workers must be provided training so that theycan understand this perspective as an integral part of their professional role. One of the keyreason for choosing this topic for the systematic review is that among older people spiritualityand emotional connectivity is very critical and sensitive factor for them. It has been observed that many old people do not find their care services as satisfactorybecause their social workers fails to understand their spiritual and cultural aspects. The hugedifference between cultural beliefs of older patients and social workers makes it hard to providesuitable care to patient. In older age loneliness, depression and other psychological aspectsmakes the care services very challenging (Opler, 2018). In order to assure that older people caneasily express their needs and receives services accordingly then identity of these social workersmust be taken into account. Since each individual may not have awareness about cultural,religion, attitudes of other people. However, to develop effective care plan and interventions social workers mustunderstand the cultural diversity. It will also help them to consider the identity differences inpractice so that identity does not serve as barrier for the quality services. The systematic reviewof the topic will be significant in enhancing the communication and understanding betweenpatient and service provider. It will help them to have proper analysis of patient needs and carestrategies. It is also beneficial to conduct this study so that social workers can identify the
