1.Background of the Study
The patient-centric approach is considered to the high quality services in healthcare.
The previous studies suggest that the patient-centric care can help in various important
outcomes. When it is seen from the perspectives of business, those patients who report
positive outcomes are less likely to switch the physicians and develop trust in their providers.
This helps in continuity of care. The technical side is that the patients respond in a better way.
The studies show that heart patients having heart attack who are treated with high patient-
centric care develop fewer symptoms and are more likely to survive more (Buckley,
McCormack and Ryan 2018). Those patients need les readmission once they go home.
It has been found that the adults in the United Kingdom the adult-care is provided in
many ways such as through formal care, the residential care homes or the carers who help in
the home. These services are provided through the private funds or the local councils. The
adults usually of the all ages might need extra care for various reasons. The average age of
the adults is over 65. Hence it is evident that they need patient-centric older adult services for
overcoming the physical problems. It is to be noted that age is found to be an unreliable
indicator regarding who is to be benefitted from the treatment that further complicates the
decision-making (Clarke et al., 2017). The population of older adults is suffering from the
complex co-morbidities and need multiple medications.
During providing older adult care, the service providers go through various decision-
making challenges. The clinicians find it difficult to conduct proper management plans
without the help of appropriate decision-making tools (De Vriendt et al. 2016). The decision
making tools help in achieving the treatment outcomes targets reducing the cost burdens and

diseases. The decision making tools help in the risk reduction of some of the older adults and
make the older adult –care more approachable.
2.Literature Review
The care of older adults
It has been found that the older adult care is more complex than today’s majority of
nurses and other healthcare providers. The absence of proper knowledge regarding the adult
care result in the inadequate assessment of diseases properly, erroneous diagnoses, harming
treatments along with a reduced quality of life among the people of over 65 age. The question
might arise as to what is the significance of age-appropriate assessments in the older-adult
people (Dewing and Dijk 2016). In this regard, it can be said that the diseases of older people
are different than the younger people. As an example, the younger adults having urinary tract
infection might have symptoms like pain from bladder spasms, frequent urination, fever and
blood in the urine. The old ager might mask these symptoms which provide clues to the
urinary tract infections. Hence, it is evident that if the nurses do not have proper knowledge
regarding patient-centric care, they would fail to evaluate the diseases and become confused
about the infection and subsequently, the older-adult patient will undergo wrong treatment
(King et al. 2018). In the older-adult patient care, the pre assessment has been recognized as
one of the most important steps in determining the care properly.
Patient-centric approach
Good health is the basic need of every human being and evidently people struggle for
staying healthy always and intend to keep their family members healthy too. The older –
adult people tend to have health issues and the health-care service providers are focusing
more on the patient—centric approach(Dewing and Dijk 2016). The idea of patient-centric
