Introduction
Human resource management is the one who is responsible to manage all
requirements of employees working withing company (Purba and Sudibjo, 2020).
Starting from recruiting of candidates to selecting them and providing they training all
these responsibilities are handled by human resource department. Apart form this
there are certain responsibility which human resource department has to perform like
formulation of HR policies, handling work related to salary and incentives of
employees, providing solutions of employees problems and many more. In short, the
main aim of human resource department is make employees feel satisfied in order to
improve retention rate and performance of organization. As low retention rate affects
performance of company negatively. The company chosen for this particular report is
Crystal Travel, they are local Travel agent of London. They are having small
workforce which is working with traditional personnel department. This report
includes tools and techniques through which performance of company could be
improved. Also, it includes role of employee well-being which helps in enhancing
their motivation and performance. Lastly, ended with PESTAL analysis of the
company.
What tools and techniques will help improve organizational
performance?
The performance of employees affects overall performance of company. With
the help of performance management, performance of employees can be monitored
and tracked (Khan and Millner, 2020). It will helps the mangers in decision do
employees need addition training in order attain the goals of organizations. With this,
mangers can also decide the amount of appraisal that they have to provide to
employees. In order to improve the performance various tools are techniques were
used by Crystal Travel which are stated below -
 Reward and recognition programmers – When the company provide
reward and recognition to it's employees for their better performance or
successful competition of work they feel highly motivated (Buck and Morrow,
2018). This encourages them work more effectively with their full potential.

The other employees also feels motivated by seeing their co- worker getting
praise for good performance. The reward provided to employees could be
monetary or non – monetary. Monetary reward is getting incentive and bonus
in terms of money, where as getting praised by management and co- workers
is considered as non – monetary reward. As per the situation management
offers rewards to employees (Alshammari, 2020). All this makes the
employees feels motivated and valued. So, management of Crystal Travel
involved in providing timely rewards and recognition to it's employees when
they are able to convince more number of customers.
 Personal development plans – Personal development plans is prepared by
companies in order to identify the requirement of training and development
among the employees. In order to improve the performance of employees
Crystal Travel keeps on monitoring requirement of training for new employees
and development program for existing employees to keep them updated
about new technology. This will also helps in company in getting competitive
advantage as their employees will be one step forward from it's competitors.
 Real time feedback – The performance of employees can also be improved if
they came to understand where they are lacking and what flaws they are
making while performing their work. The higher level authorities so not give
false feedback because this will affect employees performance negatively.
The management of Crystal Travel keeps on monitoring the performance of
it's subordinates and provide necessary feedback, which helps them in
performing better work for next time. They provide feedback to employees on
weakly basis.
 One- on- One performance Check- Ins – One- on- one performance check-
ins refers to checking or evaluating performance of employees on individual
basis. Apart from measuring the team performance that team is able to
achieve it's target or not individual performance of each employees of Crystal
Travel is also being monitored. This is necessary to be performed because a
team includes higher performer as well as lower performer employees. When
they work together as a team, it is not possible to evaluate individual efforts so
one- on- one performance need to be performed.
 Training and development program – Training is provide to new employees
to make them aware about there roles and responsibilities, functioning of

organization and rules and regulation of company. With this, objectives,
mission and vision of the organization is also communicated to them.
Development programmer is for existing employees to make them aware
about latest technology, tools and techniques upcoming in the market. This
helps the companies in getting competitive advantage as employees of
company are more aware about tools and techniques available in market as
compare to it's competitors.
 Embrace Flexibility – It is being observed that employees feels more
productive when the management leaves them free, as they can complete
their work when they want without any hurdle. This is the reason Crystal
Travel provides flexible working hours to employees, along with this they
provide work from home facility too. With this the employees are free to avail
any facilities of company at any time. They are free to share their ideas, views
and opinions, all this enhances the performance and productivity of company
and employees starts feeling motivated.
The role of employee well being in improving motivation
and performance
Employee well being not only refers to the physical health of employees but also
include the mental, physical, economic and emotional health of the employees. All
the factors necessary for employees to work smoothly are a part of employee well
being (Driskill, 2018). Hence, good working conditions, access to necessary facilities,
positive attitude, etc., are considered as an essential part of the well being of
employees. Effective and efficient management also plays an important role in
improving the performance of employees. Improved performance motivates them to
give better
results. Crystal Travel motivates its employees on a regular basis for improving their
performance. The goals set are quite easy to achieve, at the beginning, to boost the
morale and confidence of the employees. This helps the chosen organization to
increase their profitability and achieve the desired results. Further Crystal Travel
organizes various activities and camps for checking and maintaining the mental as
well as physical health of its employees (Yunis, Tarhini and Kassar, 2018). The
chosen organization takes care of its employees for the achievement of targeted

goals. Thus, employee well being plays a crucial role in improving the performance
of employees to a great extent and is discussed below:
 Retain employees and keep them loyal – Healthy working conditions and
availability of necessary resources help the company to retain employees.
Retention of employees is very important for the success of an organization.
The recruitment of new employees increases the cost and their training is,
further, time consuming. Crystal Travel provides all the necessary resources
and facilities to its employees. Further, positive attitude and good environment
of the organization keeps the working conditions healthy. This keeps the
employees happy and loyal towards the organization. Thus, it is very essential
to not only hire, train the employees but also retain them in the long term.
 Enhancement in the productivity and focus of employees – Retention of
employees means that the trained ones are still there with the organization.
The skilled employees are able to perform better and give better results as
compared to the new one. Skilled employees are more focused and dedicated
towards their work as they have better understanding of their goal. Further,
when the employees are healthy, they come to work regularly thereby
reducing absenteeism. This motivates them and improves their performance
by improving their focus and productivity.
 Create competitive environment to work – Good working conditions and
positive attitude of employees towards work create healthy competition
among employees. Crystal Travel promotes healthy competition among its
employees to motivate them to perform better as it is regarded as one of the
best ways to improve the skills of the employees. Motivation is very necessary
for employees to improve their efficiency.
 Improves goodwill – Employee well being help the organization to motivate
employees. Crystal Travel takes care of its employees well being so that their
productivity increases with each passing day. Better productivity will help the
organization to improve the reputation in the market, both, national and
international. For an organization to be successful, improvement in the
goodwill is necessary. Goodwill refers to the reputation and position of the
organization in the industry and market.
 Create a culture of reward and recognition – Employee well being helps in
creating a culture of reward and recognition in the organization. Crystal Travel

rewards its employees for their hard work and appreciate them in front of
everyone. This sets them apart from other employees and encourage them to
do better. This is the best technique adopted by the chosen organization for
motivating its employees. Reward and recognition make them feel valued and
a part of the organization. This makes them do better so that the organization
is able to touch the skies of success.
 Reduce health care costs – Good employee well being helps to keep
employees happy and healthy. When the employees are healthy, the
expenses incurred on their health will be low. Reduction in employee
absenteeism benefits the chosen organization by increasing their overall
efficiency and effectiveness. This will help the organization to cut down their
unnecessary costs. Employees of Crystal Travel are well enough which
means they have to spend less on their health expenses and thus have more
to spend on their hobbies and other recreational activities.
Conclusion
From the above report it can be concluded that, human resource department
works as a bridge between management and employees of the company. Their main
aim is to enhance retention rate of company and provide satisfaction to employees.
They are responsible for preparing polices for benefit of employees. With this, role of
employee well being is also explained. Employees well being makes the employees
feel motivate and with this performance of employees are also enhanced if they are
well-being. The output of employees as well as output of companies also enhanced
when employees are well being. Motivation leads in making employees feel goods to
perform their work more effectively. Lastly, the report is ended with performing
PESTAL analysis of company. Where political, technological, environmental and
legal factors have positive impact on company where as, economic and social
factors have negative impact on company.

Appendix: PESTLE Analysis of Crystal Travel
PESTAL analysis refers to study of external factors of company which
positively or negatively affects performance of company (Driskill, 2018). The
PESTAL analysis of Crystal Travel is as follows -
 Political factors – Political factors are the factor which are owned and
manged by the government, they are not under the control of companies. UK
is having stable government which is having positive impact on company.
Along with this during Covid – 19 pandemic UK government reduces tax rates
on travel industry which has again a positive impact on company.
 Economic factor – Economic factors are those were companies are affected
by economic condition of country. After the situation of Covid – 19 pandemic
the rate of inflation in county was high due to which the purchasing power of
customers were declined and they can't afford to avail facilities provided by
Crystal Travel. This results in loosing customer base and decreasing profit of
the company.
 Social factors – When the organizations are affected by social factors such
as cultural, behavior, perception or attitude of people then it is considered as
social factors. Due to diversification in culture, Crystal Travel were facing

difficulties in understanding the exact needs and wants of company. With this
they are unable to acquire large customer base.
 Technological factors – Technological factors includes all those factors
which are related to technology and directly or indirectly affecting the
performance of company such as, change in technology, development in
technology or up gradation in technology. By adopting new and latest
technology Crystal Travel is able to provide a happy, safe, secure and fast
journey to it's customers. This is increasing the rate of customers satisfaction
and helping company in acquiring customers base.
 Environmental factor – The factors which are related to climate change,
pollution, environment or temperatures are related to environmental factor.
Crystal Travel is using best possible ways in order to protect environment and
make it safe and secure. Recently, they had introduced solution for waste
management.
 Legal factor – All those factors which are under the control of legislative
bodies and affect company positively as well as negatively are termed as
legal factor. There are certain legal laws imposed by the legislative bodies on
traveling industry and Crystal Travel follow all those rule and regulations in a
very effective way which are imposed by them. Also, they are paying taxes on
timely basis. All this results in smooth functioning of company at every point of
time.
