General Motors Corp. has appointed Mary T. Barra as their CEO, which is a
revolutionary activity in terms of diversity and inclusion. It is an activity that must be
incorporated by companies to gain appreciation from the part of the consumers and the diverse
groups of stakeholders associated with the company. Hence, the paper has discussed the scope of
diversity and inclusion and linking the same with the action taken by General Motors Corp.
General Motors Corp has shown their affiliation with the policy of inclusion and diversity with
the help of the appointment of Mary Barra as their CEO. This acts as an example that the
company has set to elevate their standards of all the global level MNCs in terms of inclusion in
their ranks. Inclusion of women in the top managerial roles is an issue organisation must cater to
while they are operating in the industry and the fact that General Motor Corp. has been able to do
the same is likely to bolster the goodwill of the organisation thus, helping them in gaining a
competitive advantage. As a result of the appointment, Mary T. Barra as their CEO after which
they have been able to gain appreciation from the diverse groups of stakeholders of the company.
Thus, it can be said that the company aims to cater to the needs associated with the issues such as
diversity amongst genders, diversity in education and diversity through ethnicity. It can be said
that the company excelled in terms of diversity and inclusion and the paper puts forward the
issues that have been taken in to consideration by the company, while it operates in a highly
challenging business environment.
