INTRODUCTION
Communication can be defined as the exchange of messages between two people with an
effective use of communication channels. It is important because it is associated with all the
other functions of management. The process of communication can be affected by certain
barriers (West and Turner, 2018). Therefore, it is important to develop strategies in order to
overcome the same. This report is based on Learn English UK, which is an English language
school based in London. The school has been dealing with a lot of issues lately due to which its
overall performance is getting affected. The report includes a discussion about the general
theories of organizational communication, barriers of communication as well as the strategies
that the school can adopt in order to overcome these barriers.

General theories of organisational communication
There are different theories of organizational communication that are implemented by
organizations in order to enhance their overall performance within the market. The different
general theories of organizational communication are explained below in context to Learn
English UK.
Actor-Network Theory (ANT) – This particular theory of communication suggests that
both human as well as non-human factors equally influence the success of innovation as well as
knowledge creation. It primarily looks at how networks are formed and how do they contribute
to the overall success (Habermas, 2015). Therefore, it can be said that both actor as well as
network are equally responsible for attaining these outcomes.
Agenda Setting Theory – The respective theory states that mass media organizations
determine what does the general population consider to be worthy (Borges-Tiago, Tiago and
Cosme, 2019). This is usually done by deciding on the amount of attention that a new story
receives.
Communication Accommodation Theory – The respective theory of communication
states that when adjust their individual styles as per the communication styles of others. These
