Individual group and organizational behavior 2 Introduction Personality can be understood as a combination of qualities or characteristics set of behavior, emotionalpatterns, andcognitionsofanindividual, whichevolveanddevelopfrom environmental and biological factors. It is usually stable and does not get change overnight (What is Personality? - The Extensive Definitions of Personality | 123test, 2018). Many authors and scholars have provided their different definition of the term “Personality.” According to J.P. Guilford personality is an integrated pattern of traits(Hutch, Hutch and MC3, 2018). Further, Kurt Lewin, a famous American-German psychologist defined the personality as "a dynamic totality of systems." (Taylor, 2009). The study of personality is necessary to be done in order to understand it is value. A personality is an important term, which defines how a person is? How his/her character is? A personality affects the communication and intellectual behavior of a person and affects his/her study, career, and relationship with the people. Different people have different personality(McAdams, 2016). The personality is the reason because of which some people are social where some of them are completely introvert. Behavior and personality are closely connected with each other(Amichai- Hamburger, 2013). This is necessary to mention here that the personality of a person not only control his/her behavior but also do affect other factors. For instance, the personality of an employee influences the culture and successes of an organization. In the presented report, the focus will be made on the fact that how the personality of employee affect the team behavior and company culture including the other related aspects.
Individual group and organizational behavior 3 How personality affects employee interaction within the team In every organization, various teams are there and in each team, many of the people involve as a team member. Each of them has a different personality that affects their behavior in different modes. The interaction of an employee with the other team members in an organization is a kind of social interaction that gets influenced by the personality of that employee. Many of the employees are very social and have a very positive personality. These people interact with almost every member of a team. Their personality forces them to develop their interaction. On the other side, some of the employees have limited interaction personality. They are comfortable in their own zones. These people interact with the limited people in the team. It means these people are social and interactive with a few team members and in such a manner, their personality limits their interaction. As mentioned above, personality plays a vital role; the same predict the behavior of an employee in a specific situation. An employee who has an introvert personality does not interact with any member of the team. Such employees remain isolated. They are reserved nature, thoughtful and focused(Mizne, 2018). They are often known as loners in the organization and are comfortable working individually rather than in a team(Owens, 2015). In almost every organization and team, few such employees are there. Apart from the social and introvert personalities, some other kinds of personalities are also there that impact the employee interaction within the team. Extraversion is a kind of personality that is quick-witted and energetic(Cherry, 2018). These people always become ready to interact with team members and thrive brainstorming with others in the team. Further, some employees in the organization hare Perceiving personalities, these personalities always remain ready to take the changes and therefore interact with other employees too. They are positive in their nature and motivate other team members by interacting with them. In addition to the interaction, the personality of the

In an overall, the more extraversion and socialemployeeswouldbetheremore interaction among the team members will be there. However, it is not possible for an organization or a team to have positive personalities. All kind of personalities exist in a team and it is up to the team leader or the manager that how nicely he/she use these personalities for the betterment of the organization. Interaction level among employees within a team affects the overall working and success of the same. Mainly it has been noted that people with similar personalitiesare comfortableworking with eachother but itis not in the favor of the organization always. Different personalities often defeat the adverse impact of each other and bring positive results. In the following section below, the discussion will be focused on team dynamics and performance considering the personality factor of employees. Team dynamics and performance Before developing the arguments on the impact of the personality of individual employees and team dynamics on the team performance, it is required to know that what exactly team dynamics is? In order to answer this question, this is to mention that team dynamics are the psychological and unconscious forces, which influence the behavior and performance of a team(Definition of
Individual group and organizational behavior 5 Team Dynamics, 2018). A team creates out of different kind of personalities and in such a manner the personalities of employees, their behavior with other employees and the working environment of the team creates and influences the team dynamics. Every team has different dynamics according to the relationship between team members. The same can be good as well as bad. Where good team dynamics bring positive team performance, poor team dynamics influence the performance of a team in an adverse manner(Inc., 2018). The reason behind the same is that in case of poor dynamics, employees often do not co-operate with others and therefore the strategies and plans developed by team leader get fail to operate. Further, motivation is the factor that influences the goodness of team dynamics. If employees are less motivated then the team cannot expect to perform well. In addition to this, in such cases, employees often blame each other for the poor performance. This would not be wrongful to state that personalities of employee affect team dynamics and team dynamics further affect the performance of the team. Therefore, for a good team performance, it is necessary to have positive personalities in the organization. This can be understood by an example. For instance, if all the members of a team would be introvert and would not communicate with each other, how badly this will affect the performance of a team in an adverse manner because there will be an issue of communication gap. Every team is made of people with different personalities who all work for certain common goals. The personality, attitude, and behavior of employees affect the working environment within a team. Study of team dynamic is very important, as this is the reason that why some teams act great where some fail to achieve even the basic goals. Although, team dynamic is an intangible factor but plays a valuable role as the same affect the productivity of the overall organization. In conclusion, this is to be stated that in an indirect manner, personalities of employees put a significant impact on the team performance with the help of team dynamics.
Individual group and organizational behavior 6 If to talk about my personal working experience, I would lie to share that at a time I was used to work for a medical company. My tea, leader was a very motivated person. In conjunction with him, all other team leaders were also very helping in nature. There was no negativity in our group as we were used to support each other. Because of our positive attitude towards each other, we were always on number one in comparison to other teams of the companies and we have achieved a sale target in 11 months in a year. The relationship between personality, team success, and company success As mentioned in the above discussion, personalities of individual personalities have great influence on the success of the team as well as the success of the organization. This is the reason that some of the companies do not want to change their chairperson even after many years. These different personalities affect the relationship between/among employees. The personality of employees affects the overall performance of the organization in direct as well as in an indirect manner(Munroe, 2018). In a direct manner, a dedicated employee contributes his/her efforts in the success of the company by performing his/her job effectively. On the other side, a demotivated or a lazy personality of an employee reduces the productivity of an organization. Secondly, in an indirect manner, a dedicated and helping employee develop a good team dynamic and a demotivated employee generate poor dynamics. It means the impact of a personality is not limited to the employee that consist the same but it also affects the behavior of other employees. The success of a group depends on the behavior and working of employees. Apartfromtherelationshipbetween personality and team success, another aspect of thestudyistherelationshipbetweenteam

Individual group and organizational behavior 7 success and company success. As many teams exist in an organization, the success of these teams influences the overall productivity, development, success, and culture of the organization (Calin, 2018). As much good teams will work, the organization will be successful. Personalities of employees affect the culture of an organization. The organization is a combination of management as well as employees. In addition to the management, employees also affect the working environment and culture of an organization and this is to say that they are the people responsible for the success of an organization. Good personalities affect the company culture in a positive manner. Impact of member personalities and behaviors on the ability of the team to be cohesive and productive A team can be productive and remain cohesive for many of the reasons. Firstly, this is to state that a productive team is that which uses it is resources in an effective manner. Productivity can be understood as a ratio of output and input resources. These resources include capital, human resources, raw materials and so on. In a team where all the members are responsible and use the input resources wisely, there are high chances of the ability of the team to be productive. When people behave in a responsible manner, it affects the productivity of a team in an overall manner. How cohesive a team is and can expected to be depend on the behavior of it is employees. A cohesive team is that in which people are connected with each other in a positive result. Cohesiveness is an extent to that team members connect together and remain unites in order to achieve a common goal. This common goal is a vision of the team in general. The members of a cohesive team have a positive and interactive personality. Because of the good personality and
Individual group and organizational behavior 8 behavior of employees, a team keeps the ability to be cohesive. In a cohesive team, people trust each other and are there to help each other in an adverse situation. This would not be wrongful to state that ability of a team to be productive and cohesive is way much affected by the personalities and behavior of team members and in such a manner the same affect company culture. Conclusion To conclude the discussion, this is to mention that individual behavior, team dynamic and organization culture are relatively connected with each other. Where the personality of an employee affect the team dynamic, such dynamic further influence the culture and success of an organization. These employees develop the organizational behavior, as organizational behavior is nothing more than the working environment of the organization. Organizational behavior gets influenced by the personalities of employees and vice versa. In order to provide some recommendations to employees, I would like to suggest that employees are advised to review the organizational behavior and then they should decide that whether the same is suitable for them. Further, managers and team leaders are advised to review the behavior of employees and to act accordingly. For a positive team dynamic and organizational culture, communication is necessary among the employees. Therefore, managers should ensure proper interactionamongtheemployees.Bydevelopinghealthycommunicationandproviding motivation toemployees, success of an organization can be ensured by the management, which would also prove positive for the individual development of employees.
