1INDIVIDUAL REFLECTION As a human being, we all have our values that make the foundation of our behaviour. Our values are developed and shaped by our culture, and it continues to impact our behaviour throughout our life in various ways (Tata and Prasad 2015). The paper aims to discuss one time when I recognised the effect of my values and beliefs on the way I thought about my work and carried out. Belong from a conservative family, I have grown up with strict manners. We have always held manners as a top priority ensuring that the other person is spoken and treated with respect. It was in my workplace when we were assigned for a group presentation I realised the importance of my values. We needed to do a presentation on nursing homes of our states. While conducting the survey, we were to interact with the older population and get as many opinions as possible. While communicating and getting along with the older people I realised they were pleased with my way of interaction and told it was hard to find young people who listen to older people with patience and have a conversation. Also, while discussing with other fellow members, I realised that I was one of the few who enjoyed doing the work. I also fetched the maximum marks to my group. Values can influence our judgment and way of perceiving things. It was then I realised that it was my values regarding the elderly people and the importance of manners that as children I learnt in my hometown.
