INTRODUCTION
Business environment signifies internal and external atmosphere that imposes effect on
functioning level. The present assignment is depending on TESCO that is based on combination
of different factor that imposes direct effect on functioning and activity of organisation. This
company was given by Jack Cohen in 1934. There is assessment of various organisations as per
their size & scope of business organisation. There is an also explanation regarding sole trader
organisation, limited liability partnership and many more. In addition to this, they also explain
organisational structure and how it imposes direct effect on productivity of organisation. In
assistance of this, the PESTEL analysis is also used for assessing external environment of
business organisation (Alshare and Sewailem, 2018).
TASK 1
Explain features and examples related to small, medium, large as well as micro size
organization
The micro organization is small company who employs five individual people and possess
turnover which is less than specific amount. The micro organization signifies a small company
that focuses on employing small range of individual person. They focus on specializing in
offering product and services for local areas.
Characteristics of micro organization
 There are 5 subordinates perform their work.
 And in organization, there do not have subordinate & they do not possess excess to
convey marketable banking sector.
 The main motive of micro organization is for survival.
For example, there is different micro organization such as Saloon & Plumber.
Small organization
The small company is determined as other than public organization and paid up capital
which is does not more than fifty lakh or which will be not above 5 crore.
Characteristics of Small organization
 There are 10 staffs who execute their work.
 There is different feature of a small organization such low revenue as well as profit
margin related to subordinate during particular phase of time period.

 The main motive of small organization is to survival and earns profit.
For example: Riverside food is determined as an example of small company.
Medium size organization
Those type of company along with 50 subordinates during particular phase of time period.
Characteristics of micro organization
 There are different characteristics of medium size organization are be passionate
regarding organization, be persistent for performing different kind of organization.
 The example of medium size organization named as Aviva.
Large size organization is organization in there is large number of staffs whose main
purpose is to increase more and more profit during particular phase of time period.
Characteristics of large organization
 The main purpose is to increase profit in upcoming time period.
 For example: Amazon is determined as large size company.
Therefore, there are different kinds of organization operate their functions and activities
during particular phase of time period. It aids assistance in increasing sales and profit margin in
future period of time.

Explain different characteristics and example of organization
There are various examples as well as features of organization that is going to be mentioned
below:
Sole trader they focus on handling various function of company in proper way. The owner
of company has a responsibility to execute various types of function that is connected with the
operations and functions of business organization.
There are various characteristics of sole proprietorship such as sole ownerships this is
determined as a business that is owned by individual person during particular phase of time
period. They possess unlimited liability and there is no legal entity. And the main focus is to
increase more and more profit which will be beneficial for business organization in future
period of time (Boojihawon and Ngoasong, 2018).
Partnership is determined as a type of private company that requires fewer funds and
increased engagement of risk is determined as a low. Therefore, the example of this type of
organization is John that is determined as a partnership organization.

There are different characteristic of partnership organization which is existence of
agreement it is determined as an outcome related to agreement between more than two people
for carry out functions of organization. Their focus is on sharing profit and loss which will be
beneficial in future period of time.
Private Limited organization these are determined as a those type of organization who
focuses on operating their company and increasing share of market. They are not capable to sell
its share in the market. For instance, Airdri.
There are different characteristic of private limited organization such as they have
minimum share capital to execute their business in an appropriate manner. Their focus is on
increasing profits which will be beneficial for them in future period of time. And their primary
purpose is to enhance satisfaction of user that helps in increasing profit in future time period. In
addition to this, the vision of private organization is to enhance higher value of company by
providing superior goods in assistance with services to its user. The prime objective is to
increase revenue and enhance market share within company. They are capable to execute given
task and offer qualitative goods to its user. The Amazon is determined as a private organization
they execute their functions at international level. And, they adopt functional structure that
assists in handling various member of organization in proper manner.
A public limited organization is such types of company in which they feel free to sell
share for increasing profit of business organization by providing different kind of product to its
user. It is considered as that company that is determined as a public industry by using legal
framework For instance, British broadcasting organization. They provide different types of
information to individual person such as daily newspaper and so on. Their vision is to offer
entertainment program for satisfying its user. There are different types of subordinate who
execute work which is around 21000 employees that is considered as a large size organization
(Brown, 2018).

Organizational Structure
The organisation structure signifies method of using different activities and operations
that is executed by different department. There are various functional departments in relation to
TESCO that is going to be mentioned below:

Functional structure it is the kind of structure in which there are various function that
must be executed by different departments and department like service as well as sales
department.
Divisional structure the structure is connected to dividing company by adding two
product lines. In addition to this, the primary objective of this kind of structure is to divide
company as per different category of goods.
Matrix structure matrix structure signifies as a combination of functional as well as
divisional structure of organisation. Herein, there is different kind of application related to
functional department as per different category of goods.
In given report, the Tesco adopting matrix structure as per various category of goods that
is provided by organisation. In reference of Tesco, the whole structure of organisation is in
hierarchical term that imposes direct effect on large size organisation (Gebauer, Haldimann and
Saul, 2017). At outlets, there are typical structure of organisation involve Metro stores, extra
formats as well as super stores and many more. There are different kinds of manager who
perform their work around outlets for achieving objectives of business organisation. It is

adopted to assess how various activity and functions are supervising in a way that help in
achieving aim of objective in timely manner.
The whole structure of organisation is in hierarchical term because the main focus is on
various departments and the reason of adopting hierarchical structure is because it is determined
as a large size company, there are different kinds of layers that are provided within an
organisation and there is a need of communication in order to reduce conflict. This is
determined as a main reason of hierarchical structure for handling various activities of company.
PESTEL Analysis
PESTEL analysis is a tool which is adopted by business organisation for assessing
external environmental factor of organisation and that imposes direct effect on operations of
company. In reference of Tesco, it is determined as a British international organisation and
operates its function at international level. For this process, they required to determine all kind
of activity imposes direct effect on activities of company. Therefore, PESTEL analysis adopted
by TESCO is going to the mentioned below:
Political factors to deal in different country and all nations possess various political
element such legislation, tax rates, political stability and many more (Kahiya, 2020).
Positive effect there is various political elements such as tax rebate, combination of
various economic along with political parties. Therefore, Tesco should be optimistic and keep
positive effect on operation of organisation. For example, there is a proposal of tax through local
council in current years but it is denied by government of UK that help in hike in price for
normal public that results in Tesco achieves good leadership position related to price.
Negative effect there are different kind of factor that imposes negative effect on profit of
Tesco and this is a tax rate as well as laws. There are different kinds of stock that must be
import from country named as China & East Asia that impose negative effect on operations of
company.
Economic elements it signifies those entire element that is connected with economy of
country such as foreign exchange, gross domestic all these elements can impose direct effect on
operations of company.
Positive effect due to increase in borrowing cost within UK that imposes positive effect
on profit margin of Tesco.

Negative impact it is analysed that they focus on expanding its organisation and the
company based on grocery market within UK that imposes negative effect on organisation.
Social factors determine all elements that are based on taste and preferences of user. This is
connected with cultural element in which organisation dealing.
Positive effect it is assess that the individual person prefer healthy food therefore the
organisation is appropriately focuses on providing healthy food that increases revenue and profit
margin of company in future period of time. For example, there are around 65% of trustworthy
buyers within UK that are beneficial for Tesco in future period of time.
Negative impact due to bring changes, TESCO required to invest in research of marketing.
For example, the current covid-19 situation has lead to lower preferences of individual person to
visit or go through physical outlets that decreases sales of organisation and reduced revenue.
Technological factors due to bring advanced technology which impose positive effect on
operation and function of organisation. For this process, the organisation required to use
innovation as a lead generation for perform their work in an appropriate manner.
Positive impact they introduce innovative technology into outlets for enhancing experience
level of user. This helps in increasing profit margin in future period of time. For instance, Tesco
focuses on having own website as well as payment systems that leads to positive effect on user.
It helps in saving time during particular phase of time period.
Negative effect due to launching of technology, it needs huge fund that imposes negative
effect on goal of business organisation.
Environmental factor it is connected with organisation that required addressing all factors
or element for maintaining sustainability related to environment.
Positive impacts Tesco focuses on using available resources and reduces carbon footprint
that enhances brand value related to organisation in the market.
Negative impact due to increase in usage of bag of plastics imposes negative effect on
environment of company.
Legal factor it signifies element which is connected with legislation related to government
that includes direct impact on performance of subordinate within organisation (Schaltegger,
Lüdeke-Freund and Hansen, 2016).
Positive impact by launching law such as law of commission, Tesco achieve profit in
future period of time.

Negative effect there is different kind of legal action that is faced by Tesco. There is
requirement of huge amount of investment in order to put down this kind of action.

On the basis of above given report, it is assess that business environment signifies
internal and external atmosphere that imposes effect on functioning level. There is assessment
of various organisations as per their size & scope of business organisation. There is an also
explanation regarding sole trader organisation, limited liability partnership and many more. In
