INDUSTRIAL AND ORGANIZATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY After reading about so many ways to motivate employees I can say that one can easily get motivated to work in a proper way. The outcome of employee motivation is increase in the productivity of the organization. As I acquire knowledge about various types of employee motivation I can connect to this week’s reading. I learnt that employees are considered to be the heart of every organization. Motivating the employees to cooperate among them and work smoothly is a necessity for every organization (Aamodt, 1996). Along with this, I have furthernoticedtheimportanceofpracticinghealthyrelationshipnotonlywiththe management of the company but also with the other employees within the organization. While learning about employee motivation, I noticed that it is always important to understand the perception of the employees and offer proper job commitment to them. In addition to the things mentioned above, certain things came to my notice which are that the employees can be motivated if they are provided with the chance to participate in decision making process of the company. The employees can also be motivated by regular and healthy communication and recognition for their services from the company’s end (Aamodt, 1996).Lastly I understood that the organizational psychologists often prefer to conduct surveys about the attitudes of employees to acquire a clear picture of how and in what ways the employees can be motivated to increase the organizational productivity. 2
