1 Early Childhood Education and Care 1.The infant’s name is Khaleesi. She is 6 months old. Khaleesi was observed when she was with her mother and me (Observer). 2.There are a few observation made while observing Khaleesi with respect to PIESS. They are as follows: Physical: The hearing and vision abilities are good as observed. She responds to touch. She clearly listens to the voices of her mother and other people as well. She pays attention to her own name. There was no teething as her teeth are just coming in. She does not have any disabilities and she was born 1 week overdue. She can reach out for the toys too. Yet she cannot sit without support. However, she has started rolling over. The recommendation for the Physical domain is Height Measurement and more playing with other kids. Her muscle development should be taken care of. The development of bone can be one recommendation for her future healthy growth. Intellectual: She is very calm and composed even of when there are strangers around. In the picture, she is engaged in her own activities while being in McD’s which is always crowded. She babbles. She is a curious kid and observes things keenly. She also imitates facial expressions. The recommendation for Intellectual domain is answering simple questions.
2 Early Childhood Education and Care Emotional: She is only comforted when he mom is around and very little with her daddy. She becomes uncomfortable if her mom is not around. She is moody. It is seen when she is touched, her response could be positive and negative both. It depends on her mood. Recommendation for emotional domain is tracking the affection shown to them. Social: She is socially a very capable child. She smiles when she sees herself in the mirror. She smiles when she is put into the social stimulation situation. She does not feel anxious when she is around strangers but she should be accompanied by her mom all the time. Recommendation for social domain is recognizing favorite toy. Spiritual: The spiritual observations cannot be made as the child is very young for that. 3.There are a few recommendations which would help in the development of Khaleesi in the future. They are: Motor Skills: When a baby is 6 months old, it starts to roll on its back and stomach. Babies should be allowed and motivated to do so while the parents are around. This way
3 Early Childhood Education and Care the growth of the child in terms of crawling and walking would be good(Development, 2011). Sleep: The sleep pattern of the babies should be observed when babies are 6 month above. Several sleep methods are experimental by the parents because if the baby is awake then it can roll again and can injure itself. It is good to monitor the sleep of babies for future growth. Sense: The babies should be given new things to explore every time. This way their sense could be explored and it is helpful in developing good senses in future. Food: The food of 6 months or above should be changed from just the milk. It is advised to feed the baby with solids when they come at this age. This will help t he infants body to grow in nutritional values(Unicef, 2001). My experience with the infant was the first experience of its type. This experience was good and I will look forward to have such experiences in future as well.
