1INFECTION RISK MANAGEMENTGroup A Streptococcal infection can be defined as the type of infection caused by theLancefield group A Streptococci, and it is a severe infection that is caused by through directcontact withmucusor sores on the skin and this particular infection has been attributed to causemore than 500000 deaths per year on a global scale and hence prevention and infection riskmanagement is a very important necessity (Safar et al., 2011).The national rate of this infection in New Zealand is 9.0 per 100000 cases which has beenattributed to be 2 times higher than the developed and higher income countries indicating at thefact that there is need for more advanced infection management plan and preventativecampaigning for reducing the vulnerability of the population against the group A streptococcusinfection. The NZPHSR or New Zealand public health survey report provides a detailed accountinto the risk factors, at risk population and other related confounders in order to design andimplement a targeted infection risk management and promotional model. The December 2017 report has presented with an editorial emphasizing on the new waysof reporting for the health intelligence team to communicate complex information to a vastvariety of audiences. This report has given a clear indication of the different invasive diseasesthat are caused by the group A Streptococcal infection along with the various noninvasive andother conditions caused by it. The report has identified that almost half of the infections are fromthe socioeconomically deprived regions specially the Manakau, Lakes, Northland and Taranaki,hence it has helped with a specified direction for the risk infection management. Along with thatthe report has specified two age groups, younger than 1 year old and older than 70 year,specifying a particular target population for the infection risk management and preventioncampaigning.
