Infectious Mononucleosis is a disease caused by the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) that commonly affects children and young people. The symptoms include fever, swollen liver, swollen spleen, acute weakness and tiredness, enlarged lymph nodes, and sore throat. The disease is self-limiting and generally resolves on its own within four weeks, but can lead to feelings of fatigue and weakness for a longer period. The EBV virus is contagious and can be transmitted through direct contact via saliva, with individuals having weaker immune systems being more vulnerable.
