An organization consists of various departments; these departments have their individual
functions that help them to meet the aims and objectives of the organization. The information
management unit manages the information regarding the organization, its departments and
the functions performed by the departments. According to Laudon and Laudon, (2016) the
information management unit plays the role of heart in an organization. Organizations need to
invest enough in order to keep the system updated so that the new information regarding the
design or functioning of the organization is added after every new activity occurs. As stated
by Laudon and Laudon, (2016) some software such as EAMbrace Asset Management is used
by organization in order to manage information in an efficient manner. The information
management unit ensures that the exact information is collected from different sources; the
information is then processed and sent to the destinations that need it.
Information management unit is very helpful for the organization. The uses are as follows
 According to Cassidy, (2016) the information management unit satisfies the needs of
an organization with the help of various systems such as analysis system, decision
support system, query system and modeling system.
 The unit helps the organization in operational control, management control,
transaction processing and strategic planning. The information management system is
answerable to the queries regarding the transaction and the status of a definite record.

management unit by providing operational data, this is data is used for planning,
controlling and scheduling (Cassidy, 2016). This as a result has helped the

clarifies the importance of information management unit for the organization.
 As opined by Pearlson, Saunders and Galletta, (2016) the information management
unit helps middle management in planning for short-term goals of organizations; it
also helps the organization in setting targets and controls the business functions. This
is done with the help of management tools of planning as well as control, which is a
vital part of information management unit.
 The information management unit helps top-level management in setting a goal for
the organization, in evolving various business plans as well as their implementation
and strategic planning.
Information management unit is very valuable for the organization. The cost incurred in
managing it is high but it is very important for the organization. The reasons are as follows
