1. General Description of the Information System
1.1 Title: Online Booking Information
1.2 General Description
Online Booking Information System (OBIS) has designed for a Local Cinema to improve the
efficiency of its ticket booking business operations and increase customer satisfaction (Boell &
Cecez-Kecmanovic, 2015). Customers can use their personal smart devices like laptops, mobile

phones, etc. to interact with the app/software in order to book tickets for movies which they want to
book. OBIS allows customers to search and book movie tickets from anywhere by selecting
information about movie sessions, cinemas, name, etc. This system allows customers to pay for
tickets through credit card or PayPal. Moreover, the system will send a confirmation message to
customers via email after successful payment. Local Cinema can provide better customers
experience to their valuable customers by providing them with Online Booking Information System to
book movie shows without any time or distance barrier (Rajouria, Yadav, Jain & Mishra, 2015).
1.3 Users and Uses
The users of the Online Booking Information System are listed below:Customers
There are two types of customers who can avail the services of Online Booking Information System
named as Loyal customers (registered) and simple customers (non-registered).
a. Sign up and Sign-in – Customers can sign in (for existing customers) and sign up (for new
customers) to the Online Booking Information System. They need to enter their account
credentials in order to sign-up or sign-in to the system.
b. Movie searching – Customers can search for details of latest movies such as movie timings,
show type, cinema no. etc. with the use of OBIS through their mobile phones, laptops, tablet,
etc. The system will present the search results at the screen of the customer’s device.
c. Ticket booking – They can book movie tickets online from anywhere by using Online Booking
Information System. They can pay for booked movies through PayPal or credit card. The
system will send a confirmation message to them through email or Apple wallet.
OBIS
Online Booking Information System runs on the different portable ICT devices of customers
such as mobile phones, tablets, and laptops, etc. This system has been used by them for
searching for information about latest movie shows and booking movie tickets.
a. Update Movie database: The OBIS automatically updates the centralized movie database
b. Confirmation message – When customers successfully pay for their booked tickets, then the
OBIS will send them confirmation through email.
c. Interact with payment system – It interacts with payment processing systems (e.g. PayPal
and Credit card) and Apple Wallet for providing great movie ticket booking experience to
customers.
d. Special offers – The system sends special offers to loyal customers.Movie database
Movie database holds information about movie sessions (i.e. time/date), movies shows, cinemas
(i.e. type like gold-class, cinema number), account login details of customers and payment
details (i.e. payment method, price, etc.).
a. Verify customer’s login credentials - Movie database verifies login credentials when
customers request to gain access to Online Booking Information System.
b. Showcase search results – When customers search details of any movie, then centralized
Movie Database presents search results to them through OBIS.
c. Update customer details – When customers create or delete their account, book shows or
cancelled booked movie shows, then Movie Database update the recorded information.Payment processing system
PayPal and credit card payment processing systems have been integrated with the OBIS which
allow customers to pay for movie tickets.
a. Online purchases – Customers can make online movie ticket purchases indirectly through the
payment processing system with the use of OBIS.

b. Payment confirmation – The OBIS uses Apple Wallet or email for sending a payment
confirmation to the customers (Kilani & Kobziev, 2016).
1.3 Instance
Odeon South Woodford is the best known and biggest cinema chain in Ireland and the UK. It uses
Online Cinema Booking Information System to offer extraordinary customer experience to its
valuable movie lovers. The Online Cinema Booking Information System of Odeon South Woodford
supports both mobile and web-based ICT devices (ODEON, 2019). With the use of this IS,
customers can view special offers, movie show timings, book movies and communicate with the
employees of Odeon South Woodford Cinema from anywhere via the internet. The screenshost of

By using this information system, Odeon South Woodford has been managed all aspects of movie
ticket booking business processes effectively.
2. External Description of the Information System
The customer interacts with the Information System for searching, finding and booking tickets for
movies. The information system processes personal details of customers to perform ticket booking
processes.
2.1 InputsCustomer details
The loyal customers have entered their personal details to login the system and book movie
tickets. Customers are entered below listed inputs during the account validation and ticket booking
process.
a. Username - The loyal customers need to enter their username in the login form to access the
