Big data can be defined as large sets of data in every organization or in general
which are very complex and one cannot get any information extracted from it. To
manage the big data, on has to analyze it and get proper insights from it, upon which
an organization will decide their future decisions. In the process of analyzing, many
different application software are being used which are particularly designed to easy
this work. Information system on the other hand can be defined as the study of
different types of systems but with a specific reference with complementary networks
and information related to computer hardware and software (Babić and et. Al., 2022).
In this report however, the theories, methods and techniques of IT solutions with the
description of different systems has been discussed. In addition to this, globalization
and digital infrastructure has also been discussed in this respective report.
Task 1: Theories, methods and techniques which relate to
the design and development for TWO of the IT solutions
listed here: (I) McAfee; (ii) Moodle; (iii) Canvas; (IV) MS
Office
MOODLE: Moodle can be defined as the open source platform which is free for e-
learning and also helps many educators in understanding various concepts, courses
and the curriculums which facilitates the interaction with the students. The person
who developed this software was Martin Dougiamas and the main purpose of his
was to contribute suitably in the sector of e-learning and grow the concept of online
learning across the world and at the same time one can have the certification and
the degree at the same time sitting home and gaining knowledge.
Methods and Techniques in Moodle:
It provides self enrollment and manual enrolment and is considered as a teaching
centre and personalized education for many individuals across the world.
MS OFFICE:
Ms Office can be defined as a community of server and software which are invented
or developed by Microsoft. The first person to develop this was Bill Gates which was
in the year 1988 in Las Vegas. It has come up with various numbers of versions now.
However, the first version of Microsoft basically included the Microsoft word,
Microsoft excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint. All these versions are being used for
different purposes of creating text documents, to create spreadsheets for data
storage and for creating power point presentations. It is also called a suite of desktop
as it is specially designed for office or business use only (Jafari-Sadeghi and et. Al.,
2022). It is being available in 35 different languages in can be used in various
variants including windows, Mac and Linux.

DSS (Decision Support System)
The decision support system can be defined as a computer program which is
basically used for the support all the operating activities of an organization. Decision
support system basically helps to analyze huge amount of big data of any business
and after analyzing get some informative information which is very useful for the
companies for the decision makings of the business. This information or insights
gathered is important for the company as it make the decision making very
appropriate and at the same is time saving and helps in efficiently planning all the
strategies and the management of the business.
ESS (Executive Support System)
Executive support system can be defined as software which allows its users to
covert the organization’s data into something which can be quickly accessible and at
the same time can be understandable to the people who don’t have a good
knowledge of computer in the organization (Janakiraman and et. Al., 2022). It also
makes the data convertible into the executive- level reports which are being used by
the accounts and the staff of the organization. If the organizations use this, it will give
them a quick and easy to understandable statistical data which help in the
company’s easy and appropriate decision making process. The tools which are
being used in the executive support system are dependent on developer and
commerce application.
TPS (Transaction Processing System)
Transaction processing system refers to an information processing system for all the
organizations operating activities and the business transactions which includes the
process of collection, modification, and retrieval of all the big data transactions of an
organization. Transaction processing system is also referred to real time processing.
This is habitually contrasted with a batch processing system in which most of the
requests are being executed at the same time. It however, does not takes much time
in giving the results for the transactions of the company. To have a good
performance with this software, it is advisable that the data should be immediately
available in the data warehouses and all the data should be have a backup in case if
there is a situation of system failure or anything with the software applications.
MIS (Management Information System)
Management information system can be defined as the study of technology used in
any organization, the organization itself and people in the organization and there
inter-relation and relations they have with each other management information
system basically helps in the getting the maximum benefits out of the investment that
has been made in the form of any equipment, personnel or anything (Jin and et. Al.,
2022). This is a fully person oriented filed which cannot work without the source of
the technology which helps to improve people’s lives with the help of the modern and
advanced technology. Companies use this system at various levels with operating

activities and use this to collect and process the data and then store the data. With
addition to this, this system also helps all the staff members, the managers and the
customers to meet their needs by managing various information systems.
KSM (Knowledge Management System)
Knowledge management system can be defined as the computerized system which
is applied and used by the organizations for knowledgeable management principles.
These principles basically have all the data- driven objectives which helps to
increase the productivity o the organization and also helps with the analysis of
business model and business analysis and many more. Many different modules
which are being served by the center to the final user make the knowledge
management system. Knowledge management system is not like the business
intelligence as they both do the same task of acquiring the big data and analyzes
them to extract the insights which help in the decisions making of any organization.
But actually the business intelligence is a part of the knowledge management system
in which wider categories helps in doing the decision making in a more basic way
(Xiao and et. Al., 2022).
Task 3: Globalization and the effects of IT on globalization
Globalization can be defined as the increasing interdependency of many countries
onto each other, related to the economies, culture and also the populations. The
speedy movement of the advanced and modern technology, goods and services and
the information around the world and across the borders if any particular country and
the dependency of one nation’s economy onto other is the result of globalization in
the whole world. Because of the globalization, countries now enjoy more cost
effective techniques in their operating activities and attract more people for the job
roles in their country. One of the major positive result of globalization is that it made
the countries gain a competitive edge which make the countries in the race of
producing more better goods with low cost of production (Loucopoulos and et. Al.,
2022).IT on the other hand has some major effects on the globalization and the
business running in the economy. With the increase in the technology, it has enabled
many people to know about the software invented and how they work together with
the use of internet in many companies and by normal people across the world daily.
This has also helped a lot in the advancement in the global market.
The spread of technology is very important to have a standard of living today.
Technical advancement across the country helps in reducing the cost of
production while producing any goods and service as there is only one time
investment of the technology and helps to facilitate all the raw material and
other inputs.
The limit to use the technology has been removed with the increased number
of computers used across the world. Invention of PC made many users to be
in the world of technology with internet and help them to know how to grow,
create and distribute the information through internet after globalization.
The invention of the www site in the year 1991 is considered one of the
greatest inventions of all times. It acts as a link between the internet and the
user to use the internet technology effectively. This has also helped to reduce

the barriers of the place and time in business dealing and the operating
activities. As it makes the transactions between the buyers and the sellers
instantly across the globe. Technology has also a major impact on the
investments made.
In today’s time, we know that data is everywhere and to store those kinds of
big data for people like is impossible. We need computer and many different
kind of software’s which are being specially designed to help in storing the big
data and in addition to them also helps to analyze and give important insights
to the organization or business to rely on and can make their future decisions
very easily and quickly, which if done without technology seems a little
impossible.
Task 4: Definition, example, advantages and
disadvantages of digital infrastructure
Digital infrastructure can be defined as the digital and modern technologies which
help in providing the foundation or the start for any organization operating activities
and information technologies. It also includes all the physical resources which are
basically necessary in nay organization to have the use of computerized devices,
systems and other processes and the data. It has become important in the function
of the society and to have a quality of life in general. In addition to this, it also
provides all those fundamental elements which are important and are eligible to
provide support to the urban management (Maniatis, 2022).
Examples of digital infrastructure are:
INTERNET BACKBONE: the use of internet is necessary for the data to
move across the countries and to be connected in the form of networks. This
also includes the communication cables and the factors which are used for
the interconnection among people, countries and everything across the world.
FIXED BROADBRAND: Networks are connected through the wired internet
which is called the broadband which helps to connect the last miles in homes,
data centers, businesses and infrastructure as well.
MOBILE TELECOMMUNICATIONS: The communication services are also
required along with the internet by the cellular networks and hence are a form
of digital infrastructure.
DATABASE INTEGRATION: the urban management however requires
working in the single or a group of single databases which helps to connect
with many other people and countries (Sohrawordi, and Hossain, 2022).
DIGITALISATION: In today’s world, it is very necessary for every country to
be digitalized and grow their economy as quickly as possible keeping in mind
the cost effective techniques. And for this process, one has to be using any
kind of network which is must in connecting to other people and countries
(Qureshi and et. Al., 2022).

Advantages of the digital infrastructure are:
It helps to bring all types of different information from across the world into our
fingertips and also helps us to access the big data easily.
The spread of new ideas and strategies is more quickly and easy and can be
easily communicable because of digitalization across the world.
Disadvantages of the digital infrastructure are:
Although having many positive impacts of digitalization or the digital
infrastructure, it also have many negative impacts on today’s generation as
one can misuse the technology in many ways to harm other people of the
society and it also has a big impact on our real-life skills.
The fast nature of the digital exchange can also create a more negative and
passive society which is not able to consider or welcome any new ideas.
Task 5: Risks associated with information systems
outsourcing and why is IT infrastructure so critical to
digital transformation!
Risks associated with information systems outsourcing
The risk which is associated with the outsourcing of information systems are:
INEXPERIENCED STAFF: IT is a sector which requires more amount of
skilled workforce for completing the tasks. When one company heir the
employees for the IT sector instead of outsourcing them, they get a chance to
interview them and get a better understanding about the skills they hold for
the job.
HIDDEN COSTS: in outsourcing, the companies mostly charge more amount
of monthly fees in the name4 of hardware maintenance, over time customer
services, and many more which is not being included in the initial contract.
UNRESPONSIBLE SUPPORT TEAM: In the scenario of in house hiring IT
team, it makes it easier for the company to know how much the person is
willing to give to the company, however, in outsourcing; people often are not
that responsible towards their tasks and hence not do it with their full
efficiency.
BIASED SOFTWARE DECISIONS: in outsourcing, it may be seen that the
relationship between the companies and the software partnership between them is
very healthy but if we seen it through, it may result in the ultimate user (Sengan and
et. Al., 2022).
The software partnerships often decrease the ability of any company or
organization to stay motivated and complete the organizations objective by
grabbing the right software in use.

Why is IT infrastructure so critical to digital transformation!
IT infrastructure plays an important role in the digital transformation as the data in
the whole world is constantly increasing. And to maintain them and at the same time
to analyze this big amount of data is nearly impossible for normal people like us.
Hence, special software are being used which help in doing the task efficiently. In the
times of COVID however, work from home becomes very crucial in our lives and IT
infrastructure is the reason behind it. And the continuous advancement in modern
technology and their use in the production of goods and services make the work very
cost effective and at the same time beneficial for the producers and the consumers
(Sharma, and Gardoni, 2022).
Conclusion
In this respective report however, the theories, methods and techniques of IT solutions
with the description of different systems has been discussed. In addition to this,
globalization which can be defined as the process through which the easy and quick
movement of goods and services, information, and the trade and many more things can
be possible between countries across the world. The digital infrastructure has also been
discussed in this respective report which can be defined as the as the digital and modern
technologies which help in providing the foundation or the start for any organization
operating activities and information technologies.
