International HRM The paper talks about the role of human resource management in an organization. Itexplains that how human resource management affects the business activities and operation ofthe firm. It describes the functions of the IHRM. It tells that how a company can expand itsbusiness globally with maintaining a sustainable IHRM within the organization. It explains theresponsibilities of HR manager to conduct business activities and operation at international level.Human resource management is the core function of the organization which includesrecruitment, selection, motivation, personnel management, and appraisal in order to meet thelong-term goals and objectives across the world. Human resource management plays asignificant role in every company to run the business effectively and efficiently. There must be ateam who can do work for the employee's safety and welfare. Human resource managementshould assist and guide the employees in difficult situations. Therefore, every companymaintains a human resource department to carry the works and activities related to theemployees. The HR team search potential and efficient candidates in the market and hire themfor the work. They provide training and development to recruit candidates within theorganization. The human resource department maintains a close relationship between employerand candidate within the organization. They maintain proper communication and collaborationamong the employees. They resolve and handle various disputes and conflicts of the employeesat the workplace. In this way, they provide job satisfaction to the recruiting candidates in theorganization. They are responsible for all the activities and actions of the employees. Aftervarious researches, it has been analyzed that human resource management plays a crucial andintegral role in the organization. Further, International human resource management may be explained as a set of actionsand activities in order to gain the organizational goals, objectives and competitive advantagesacross the world. Human resource is very significant resources in the company to meet thesuccess and growth within the organization (Armstrong & Taylor, 2014). Every company shouldmaintain a sustainable human resource management in the organization. It includes variousfunctions such as training, development, recruitment, selection, compensation and rewardsystem, and performance appraisal at international level. In addition, it also includes theuniversal skills administration and expatriate management. International HRM manages the three categories of the workers such as home country employees, host countryemployees, and third country employees. The home country expatriates are the employees whoare from the nation where the firm head office is located (Budhwar & Debrah, 2013). Further,the host country is a person who is a resident of a country in which the firm plant and branch aresituated. The third country national employee who is not a citizen of the host country and homecountry as well but they are working in the subsidiary company. In today’s era, it is seen thatmany companies are expanding its business across the world. Therefore, the corporations arefacing many difficulties and challenges to create and maintain various rules, regulations, andpolicies in the host country. If the company wants to expand its business globally then thecompany needs to maintain a sustainable human resource management in the organization. Ininternational business, people come from different culture and background to run the businesssmoothly. Thus, entire business activities depend upon the sustainable human resourcemanagement. The functions of international human resource management have been discussedbelow (Bratton & Gold, 2012). Recruitment and selection: It is the primary and important function of IHRM. The companyhires skilled, qualified and potential employees to perform the international business effectivelyand efficiently. The major elements of recruitment and selection include job analysis,interviewing applicants, and compensation system and job description. In international business,the international human resource management needs to evaluate and understand each country inorder to meet the goals and objectives of the company. They are responsible for the training anddevelopment of different candidate who belongs from different location and background aroundthe world (Stahl, Björkman & Morris, 2012). Training and development: Training and development are essential for international businessacross the world. When the company hires employees, then it is the responsibility of IHRM toprovide effective training and coaching to a candidate for improving their skills and knowledge.The company can use the on the job method and off the job method to enhance and increase theproductivity and efficiency of the workers (Brewster, Houldsworth, Sparrow & Vernon, 2016).
