Introduction
IoT refers to the internet of thing which is an advanced information
technology that connects computer devices with physical things by using
internet connections. Internets of things are more capable for controlling
and monitoring the computer devices in the companies and in Australia
many business industries are using the concept of IoT technologies.1 In this
modern era, the use of IoT devices are increasing very fast due to which the
rate of cyber security issues also increases because it provides a platform
for performing data breach related processes. The aim of this essay is to
examine the role of the internet of things in cyber security in Australia and
evaluate their impacts on Australian cyber security in the context of
international anarchy. The main focus of this research essay is to examine
the importance of IoT technology in the increment of cyber security attacks
of critical infrastructure in Australia. It is identified that the IoT is one of
the reliable information technology that has the ability for improving the
performance of computer networks but it is also linked with the cyber
security and data breach.

It is true that the internet of thing increase cyber security of critical
infrastructure in Australia due to which many users and companies are
suffering from the data breach related problems. A recent study conducted
by Bekara, (2014) identified that the internet of things connect two or more
computer networks with each due to which hackers can impact on the
overall performance of servers.2 From this paper, it has found that lack of
security is one of the biggest concern that increases the cyber security

related issues in the IoT devices. The term critical infrastructure is defined
as a computer system that provides a platform for monitoring overall
security of the networks and servers used in the companies.
In Australia the rate of cyber security is increasing day by day because
many consumers are using IoT enables devices which are less secure and
private that directly impact on the personal details of consumers. According
to Cheng, Shin-Ming, Pin-Yu Chen, Ching-Chao Lin, and Hsu-Chun, (2017)
Hsiao the security related threats and attacks are growing very fast in
Australia because numbers of users are connected with the internet of thing
devices.3 However, the configuration is a major problem linked with the
internet of things that help hackers for performing data breach related
problems and issues in Australia.
From previous studies, it is estimated that around 34% of cyber security
attacks occurred in Australia because of the internet of things and it is
increased by 10% in the last two years. There are numbers of key factors
that increase the cyber security issues in critical infrastructure used by the
companies in Australia. These risk factors include lack of proper
configuration, use of unauthorized networks, lack of communication and
security, increasing numbers of traffic and jamming signals in the networks,
less effective wireless networks used by the consumers in IoT devices.
According to Furfaro, Angelo, Luciano Argento, Andrea Parise, and Antonio
Piccolo, (2017) the term IoT is a more effective technology and able to
improve the performance of companies and critical infrastructure but it is
also true that this technology effectively increases security attacks and
