Abstract
IoT is a popular information technology that
interconnects things with physical devices
and networks with the help of internet
connections. IoT is an effective technology
that has the potential to control and manage
IT systems in the workplace and also
provide a way for enhancing the
effectiveness of systems. The key purpose of
this article is to examine the privacy
concerns occurred in IoT. It is observed that
IoT uses internet for linking computer
devices which are directly associated with
the cyber-attacks. There are various kinds of
research methodologies used in this paper
for improving the quality of the research
such as research design, qualitative research,
secondary type of data collection technique,
inductive research approach and content
analysis method. A literature review will be
conducted in order to evaluate and analyze
the results and findings of previous papers.
This paper shows that security is a common
issue occurred in IoT enabled devices due to
which companies and users may suffer from
data breach and hacking related issues. It is
argued that there are several types of privacy
issues occurred in IoT for example, malware
attack, ransomware attack, botnet, DDOS
attack, unauthorized access and so on.
Therefore, it is suggested that companies
should involve only authentic servers,
provide proper configuration of networks
and adopt encryption related techniques
while implementing IoT devices.

Introduction
The term IoT refers to the internet of things
which is a kind of system that connects
computer devices, machines and other
systems with the physical devices. It is a
best information technology which is now
utilized in many organizations for
controlling and monitoring the overall
performance of computer networks or
devices. It has the capability to send or
receive signals over a network without using
person to person communication and does
not require any connecting wires or cables
[1]. It is observed that a thing in the IoT may
be a consumer with a heart monitor implant
which is linked with the sensors and
computer networks. This research report is
based on the IoT and the researcher will
identify the security-related issues faced by
companies and users while utilizing IoT
enables devices. It is identified that security
and security of data is a common problem
linked with the IoT where consumers
connect computer devices with an internet
connection that increase the cyber-crimes.
The purpose of this research report is to
elaborate on the key features of the internet
of things and evaluate the security risk
associated with IoT devices. There are
several parts will be involved in this
investigation which includes the background
of the research, research methods, results,
discussion and conclusion of the paper.

Background of the research
Internet of things
It is an appropriate information technology
which can be used in the communication
systems for enhancing the effectiveness of
wireless servers and networks. It is analyzed
that IoT is more capable rather than other
due to which it can be used in the large
business industries for controlling and
monitoring more complex servers and
devices in an effective manner [2]. A recent
investigation identified that IoT is an
ecosystem of interconnected physical
objects which are accessible by using
internet connections. In which users can
connect two or more computing devices
with each other and perform the
communication process by using sensors
and networks.
It is argued that devices and objects with
built-in sensors are linked to the internet of
things that integrates data from various
computer networks and devices. IoT based
devices are more powerful that can be used
in the home automation and controlling
devices used in the companies. Security of
data is a very complex problem for every
developer which requires more efforts and
time but in IoT devices, users may face
security issues when they use unauthentic
networks [3]. In this generation, the use of
the internet of things is growing quickly
which also increase the rate of cyber-crimes
and attacks in society. From previous
studies, it has found that lack of privacy and
utilization of less secure networks both are
very common problems which directly
impact on the security of information in IoT
enabled devices. Mainly, IoT include
wireless technologies and networks while
communication with the physical devices
and these types of technologies is less
secures that can enhance the rate of cyber-
attacks or data breach.
According to Alrawais, Alhothaily, Hu and,
Cheng, (2017) the IoT is a kind of computer
system which is able for connecting two or
more devices with the physical devices. It
can be used for transferring data over a long
distance due to which many companies are
using the fundamental idea of IoT devices
and networks. Most of the hackers utilize the
internet as a platform for performing
hacking related strategies and processes and
internet of things also used an internet
connection that can increase the security-
related threats.
There are numbers of advantages of IoT
technology for example, more effective,
improve the consumer experience, reduce
errors and problems from the system, save
time and money, reduce efforts and cost in
the organizations and increase the overall
productivity of employees. But, security is
the biggest limitation of IoT by which
companies may face data breach or hacking
related issues [4]. Mainly, hackers attack on
the networks used by the IoT and reduce the
effectiveness of sensors that can help them
for gathering the information of users. It is
argued that IoT encourages organizations to
rethink the ways they approach their
businesses and it provides a platform for
improving their businesses in an effective
way.

The use of IoT is growing very fast because
of their enhancement the level of cyber risks
also increases that impact on the private data
of users. A recent study estimated that
between 2016 and 2018 the rate of cyber-
crimes has increased by 30% because of
many companies' use information
technologies and computer technologies that
are associated with the cyber-attacks or
security breach [5]. It is evaluated that the
security issues linked with the IoT can
reduce the effectiveness of mobile networks
used by companies and they may suffer
from the data breach or hacking. There are
numbers of security risks and issues
occurred in the era of IoT which are
described below:
Insufficient testing and updating
It is examined that there are around 23
billion IoT based devices developed in the
worldwide and this rate will be reached by
30 billion in the year 2020. But there is no
proper testing process developed for the
internet of things due to which consumers
are not able to test their networks and
servers that also increase the rate of cyber-
attacks [4]. Moreover, while developing and
implementing such kinds of technologies in
the company developers are too careless that
does not focus on the security of data. Most
of the internet of things based devices and
network do not get enough updates while
some do not update at all which can improve
the issue of security attacks.
A data breach or data loss
It is one of the common kinds of security
issues occurred in the field of IoT where
criminals attack on the servers and networks
used in IoT enabled devices. A recent study
identified that many hackers first detect the
types of networks used by consumers in the
computer devices and IoT systems after that
they reduce the security of devices by using
high-level programming codes. Moreover,
users do not adopt the proper security tools
due to which hackers can easily enter into
their computer devices and lead the data
breach related problems [5]. The loss of data
is a type of security risk where hackers
collect the personal data of companies by
blocking the communication channels used
in the IoT. In this generation, the use of the
internet is increasing day by day due to
which hackers can easily impact on the
user's devices or networks because the
internet is the best platform by which
criminals can block the servers or networks
that are linked with computer devices.
Lack of authentication
It is an essential security issue which can
affect the overall efficiency of computer
systems used in the business industries. It is
argued that the rate of cyber-attacks in IoT
based devices occurred when consumers use
third-party applications and unauthorized
networks. Such kinds of networks are
developed by hackers from the perspective
of hacking that helps them for obtaining
sufficient information of user’s peripheral
devices [6]. Moreover, employees in the
companies access networks in the
unauthentic servers which are another
problem linked with the internet connections
and IoT devices are associated with the
internet that can produce security related
problems. It is analyzed that most of the
hackers effectively perform security
