1INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION OF FEEDBACKInterpersonal communication can be defined as the process by which individual’sparticipate in exchanging information, feelings as well as meaning through different forms ofverbal as well as non verbal processes. Researches describe this process as the effective way ofbuilding relationships with others through proper communication by effectively following thesteps of understanding one’s situations, communicating with the individual in the right mannerand thereby influencing them to listen and or to take action as required in the situation1. Thereare four principles which underlie the procedures of interpersonal communication. These are thatinterpersonal communication is inescapable, irreversible, complicated and is contextual.Feedback can be explained as the component of interpersonal communication methodwhich comprises of messages which the receiver or the listener returns. This allows the sender ofthe speaker to understand how specifically the message has be received and also help tounderstand the receiver’s reactions. Receiver may respond to both intentional as well asunintentional message. There may be different types of feedbacks2. This may range from directverbal statement to that of subtle facial expressions as well as changes in the posture. This will inturn indicate the sender about the comfort level of the speaker and denote whether he or she iscomfortable or uncomfortable with the message. It helps the sender to regulate, adapt as well asrepeat the message so to improve communication.1Arnold, E.C. and Boggs, K.U., 2015.Interpersonal Relationships-E-Book: ProfessionalCommunication Skills for Nurses.
