1. Introduction
This paper is going to present a detailed research on the effective communication
skills for working with the target client group. In order to elaborate on this research the target
group that is chosen is- youth. It would further provide a brief analysis of the different
barriers that anyone might face in working with them. The paper shall present a clear
understanding of the youth group including the communication skills that are necessary for
effectively working with them. It shall also provide a brief about the fundamental practices
and processes of effective interpersonal communication that are applicable to the youths.
Lastly, the paper shall identify the resources and the networking applicable to the chosen
group.
2. Discussion
2.1 The barriers in working with the chosen client group
There are certain barriers that one might face while working with the youths of today.
They are:
 Most of the young people today have packed schedules with their schools, work, and
extracurricular activities or in helping at home (Colucci et al., 2015). Also, there are
some who needs to invest time to take care of their younger siblings. Hence, they do
not want to get engaged in community services as because of their shortage of time.
 Young people often find themselves intimidating in speaking up to a group of adults,
particularly when they are outnumbered in the meetings They think that the older ones
would limit their voices and hence, they opt out from meetings with the elder ones
and from taking initiatives in community services.
