1. In his most recent writings Bronfenbrenner expresses concerns about the level of chaos and instability that
seems to be common in the lives of many children today (for example, as a result of high divorce rates,
stressed parents working long hours, a bombardment of media influences, a confused values system). He
argued that this level of chaos interferes with helpful proximal processes and hence optimal child outcomes.
1) Do you agree or disagree with Bronfenbrenner’s ideas? Explain your answer.
2) Explain how contemporary life may have negative and/ or positive effects on proximal
processes and outcomes for children.
Topic response: The case study has presented by Bronfenbrenner on children in recent time period explains
that there is high level of chaos and instability that seem to be rising, due to changes in lifestyle within
contemporary life parameters. Children also face difficulty, with changes in living standards variedly for
extending significant rise towards child facilities. It has been agreed that as result of high divorce rates,
stressed parents working long hours and high usage of media influences there is negligence in care among
children livelihood. The contemporary lifestyle brings on negative rise based on confused value systems,
which hinders efficiency in child development and belief within strong thinking criteria parameters.
Children face challenges due to high divorce rates among parents, which psychology impacts on their
development variedly towards extensive functional parameters within their studies also (Matwiejczyk,
Mehta and Coveney, 2021).With rapid rise of internet and media influences, confused value systems
children often feel difficult to engage with school mates effectively which hinders positive development. It

has been also commonly found that children in today time period, often feel agitated and irritated and also
less socially associated among friends which further increases stress factor variedly. Parents improper
livelihood habits, has strong decline and impact towards children psychology development which further
extensively impacts on keen productive engagement variedly (Soni and Soni, 2021).
Contemporary life has been found to bring on negative effect on proximal processes and outcomes
for children, which may further impact on larger scale work efficiency and development among children.
The contemporary life has negative impact as proximal processes and outcomes of children are declined
often, which further hinders efficiency among child psychology development. With excess usage of internet
and digital platforms, online games and distance in family children feel departed for further development
within their lives. It has been also found that contemporary life development decreases childhood happiness,
morale to engage in outdoor games which extensively impacts on understandings. Parents should be
attentive towards family and children needs, with changing pace of time and engage in personal learnings
for dynamic competitive outlook growth variedly.
Contemporary life changes in children must be learnt, developed and monitored by families with
proper formal guidance which further strengthens outlook variedly on various grounds. There should be also
counselling done among children, to engage them in new activities and creative recreational sessions for
making them confident towards studies and overall productive growth in lives. Media influences often has
negative impact on children, where they should be kept away from engaging and usage of social media
platforms (Reeves and et.al, 2021).
