This paper includes an explanation of the wine produced in the Bordeaux region of France. This
area becomes the largest producing area as it has different climate factors that are suitable for
producing wine in a particular region. The average vintages produce over 700 million bottles of
wine which are continuously increasing in the quantities to some of the most expensive and
prestigious wine all over the world. After a few days, the whole world gets to know about this
region of wine production as several climatic factors in the region help in producing prestigious
wine. A further paper will be discussed about the factors due to which Bordeaux wine becomes
famous all over the world.
Introduction of Bordeaux
Bordeaux is considered as one of the most important regions related to wine production
in France. The wine produced in Bordeaux is called Bordeaux wine. In France, over 90% of the
wine produced by Bordeaux wines are red wines made with Merlot and Cabernet. The most
essential thing is a blend of grape varieties in the Bordeaux wines. There are various regions are
included in France that is responsible for the production of Bordeaux wines. This premier region
of France gave the world the classic red blend of Cabernet and Merlot (Picard, et al., 2015).
The excellent environment of growing wines is one of the biggest reasons for achieving
success. The main part is related to the geological foundation of the region (Antalick, et al.,
2015). Some rivers make the environment favourable in producing wines in this particular
region. The term Bordeaux means the small farm. This farm is used in wine production. This
region is most famous for red wines as the red wines are highly produced in this specific region.

also attracted towards these prestigious wines.

Factors that affected the wine-producing in Bordeaux
Several factors are responsible for the wine-producing and the quality of the wine. The main
factors that are responsible for the quality of wine are climate and Weather, temperature and
sunlight, winemaking practices, complexity, balance and growing practices. The wine quality
can be analyzed by the indicators that tell you that wine is of high quality (Chira, et al., 2009).
The different factors that affected the wine-producing in Bordeaux are climate, soil and grape
varietals. The description of factors is discussed below-
 Climate
The Climate of Bordeaux is proper and suitable for wine production. The climate is
divided into three categories that are hot, moderate and cool. As it has been determined
that climate affect the growing of grapes as Bordeaux is famous for growing of the
different varieties of grapes that's why wine is producing better in that particular region
(Hall, 2016). The hot climate of Bordeaux brings more alcohol and cool climate brings
less alcohol.
 Soil
Wine production also needs some of the nutrients that are provided by the soil of the
particular region. So, Soil is also considered as an important factor in the production of
wines in Bordeaux. It has been determined that soils of the region are better as analysing
the amounts of the nutrients provided by the soil.
 Grape Varietals
The other important factor that is responsible for wine production is the varieties of
grapes growing in the region. For growing the grape varieties, the three types of climates

are important as Cabernet sauvignon needs more heat while Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot
noir needs moderate or cool climate (Van Leeuwen and Darriet, 2016). These varieties
are responsible for the better production of wine. The weather conditions affect the grape
varieties grown in the Bordeaux as different weather conditions affect the growing
capacity.

Result of these factors in the wine-producing of all over the world
The factors included in the production of wine that discussed above provide various results in
the wine-producing in France as well as all over the world. The result of these factors is different
and provide different aspects of the overall production of wine (Baciocco, et al., 2014). The
description of the results of the factors is discussed below-
 Climate
The climate of Bordeaux gives the several results in the production of wine as the wine
quality gets improved as per the climate of this particular city as it is located at the banks
of the river that makes the climate as per the production of wine in France. The climate
influences the quality of wine as it helps in growing grapes in a quick manner (Jones, et
al., 2012). The climate of Bordeaux is stable as it makes the production easier. The cool
climate increases the acidity in wines but decreases the sugar and alcohol.
 Soil
The soil of the region provides the best quality of wine as compared to all of the regions.
The soil makes the wine to compete with other wines in the market. Soil is responsible
for growing grapes and the loamy soil of Bordeaux is considered as the best soil for grape
growing. Whereas the high saline in the soil creates some negative effects on wine
production.
 Grape Varietals
The grape varieties are one of the essential factors used in wine production as the wine
itself is produced by the grapes. The varieties of grapes are responsible for the better
quality of wine and the production of red wine is almost depends on the different

varieties of grapes. Bordeaux is famous for the growing of grapes and the production of
red wines which makes the prestigious in all over the world. The Grape varietals are the
only thing to make the wine of Bordeaux famous in the world.

The world has come to view this region as one of the most prestigious by determining the
history of Bordeaux and by analysing different factors of wine production. As the Bordeaux wine
comes in the different parts of the world from France then people get attracted towards the better
quality of wine and started searching the factors due to which the quality of wine becomes better
(Ky, et al., 2012). The history of Bordeaux wine is responsible for the world come to know about
this most prestigious wine.
The history of the Bordeaux wine region relates to the ancient Romans who started
cultivating the land of Bordeaux and started the production of wine. Bordeaux started to become
famous for wines from the 1st century AD. The Bordeaux appellation is proper for the cultivation
of wine and it gives the proper combination of right soil for growing grapes and easy access to
the Garonne river (Butzke, et al., 2012). Firstly, the wine of Bordeaux is export in Spain and
become famous for a particular country. The world has come to view by the history of the
Bordeaux wine as one of the most prestigious.
The other factors are also reason by which the world has come to view about this region
is one of the most prestigious. These factors a climate, soil and different varieties of grapes. By
analysing these factors, the other countries get to know about the quality of wine produced in
Bordeaux and started doing business with France related to the exporting of wines (Kemp, et al.,
2015). These factors are the major reason by which the world has come to view as one of the
most prestigious regions for wine production.
