INTRODUCTION
Business Operations is important function of business as it helps to convert the raw material
to finished goods. It helps in development of the good brand image in market and helps in
running the business smoothly (Anand and et.al., 2018). It is beneficial for an organisation to use
quality methods to satisfy the customers. In this report there is discussion related to case study of
Toyota. It is seen that there is focus on the strategies that are adopted by GM and Ford to gain
advantage over Toyota. In this report the strategies that can be used by Toyota to improve
countrywide operations. It is vital to understand the importance of these strategies as that help to
operate smoothly.

Operations management means the practices that are adopted by the company and that helps
the organisation to gain highest level of efficiency. It helps in maximising the profit of the
organisation and gain improvements that will help in achieving success. It helps in planning,
organising and controlling and the functions in such a manner so that the goals and objectives are
achieved successfully (Kokode and Sangode, 2018). It helps them to work effectively and gain
advantage over all the competitors. It is seen that it improves the profitability of the organisation.
The following strategies that will help Toyota to introduce companywide development strategies
are as follows:
Just In Time: It is a system of inventory system that helps in the management and
development of the organisation. It focuses on converting the raw materials into finished goods.
It is important to convert it in effective manner as that benefits efficiency of the organisation. As
well as it helps in enhancing the operations that enhances the production of company and at the
same time enhances the satisfaction level of customers. The focus is on reducing the wastage so
that it enhances the profitability. It is vital to note that JIT helps reduce the cost of inventory and
it is beneficial to forecast the demand accurately. It helps to maintain the right amount of
inventory and cater the demand in the market (de Andrade, 2020). In relation to Toyota it helps
to decrease the wastage of resources and reduce loss in short run. In Toyota the company
adopted the principle of Just in Time as it avoids the overcapacity of work in progress and
provides quality work. Low machine breakdowns and dependable suppliers are also features of

the system. Toyota will benefit since its production costs will be lower and it will spend less
money on raw materials. As a result, the business will be able to increase quality while also
expanding profit margins.
Supply chain management: This strategy is used by an organisation to keep the flow of its
goods and services positive. It is a process that helps in converting the raw materials into the
finished goods in positive manners. There is involvement of streamlining the supply side of
business. This process helps the business organisation to gain advantage over its competitors by
enhancing the value of the product and focusing on the quality. In relation to Toyota the
company lost its profit capacities as fought and GM was coming up (Cole and et.al., 2019). It is
seen Toyota manage the supply chain in order to increase their profitability and that help the
company this is same that was able to gain advantage over them as Toyota adopted supply chain
management. It helps company to manage the efforts and implement supply chain that was
economically feasible. The strategies have everything like production as well as product
development. Toyota Has used the system and it is helping in production shipment as well as
distribution of the product. Along with that it is seen that supplier assist the company in
managing the caused by cutting the extra expenses and producing at a fast rate. The market needs
are satisfied in a better way that enhances the image of company and it helps in managing the
inventory. It is important for Toyota to manage and co-ordinate the logistics of the company and
plan in such a way that the manufacturing as well as the final returns system is effective. This
technique is helps the company in long lasting impact on the development of its operation.
Product design: It is a well-known fact that product design plays a vital role in management
of operations as well as in development of the product. It is very important for a company to
know about the role of design in success of their product. It is seen that the can be enhance its
earnings by using effective design process. The two persons involved under product design are
as follows:
Functional design in relation to the organisation that Toyota the make decisions that is based
on functional areas. It covers materials to be used dimensions type of finished products etc. The
designer takes care of the quality of product as well as there is use of production houses that help
the designer to design the functional areas (Cockrell and et.al., 2019). Here in the concern is
about knowing and understanding the customers taste as well as the cost they will prefer.
