WHAT IS SAFEGUARDING?
 Safeguarding is various actions, steps that are undertaken by
individual to provide care and protection to children and adults so
that they can be saved from various harm or risk present in
external environment.
 Thereby, protecting adults from abuse and maltreatment like
physical, financial, sexual, psychological, organizational and
financial abuse thus promoting the health and development of
children (James and et.al., 2017).
 Therefore, it can be stated that safeguarding also ensured that all
necessary action are taken for safety and care of both adults and
children for better outcome.

WHAT IS PERSON-C ENTRED
C ARE?
 Personalized centred care is one of the 13 fundamental standard
care which healthcare provider required to abide while delivering
services to number of individual in the society.
 Thus it involved caring of patient beyond their condition which is
providing services that actually suit specific individual needs and
wants.
 In another words, person-centred care can be termed as respecting
the value, views of people while providing them care and support so
that they can live healthy lifestyle.
 So, various principles of person- centred care can be illustrated as
follows:

CONT.
 Healthcare provider needs to treat each individual with
compassion, respect and dignity while delivering services.
 Provide personalized support, care and treatment to each
individual for its better health.
 Coordinate support, care and treatment needs to be delivered to
patients as per their needs and wants (Glasper, 2020).
 Provide opportunities to people to recognize their strength and
abilities so that they can life their life independently.

SCENARIO
 One of the my pupils was named as John which was six
year old whom I have trained History lessons since last five
years. Recently, I noticed that it has become more vocal and
confidence level has been enhanced in the classroom.
 Moreover, during a lesson Freddie and its friend were talking to
each other in loud peach, so I went and discovered that they
were looking at one of the school female teachers picture on
mobile phone.
 The phone belong to John and the picture was sexually explicit.
 After the class, John stated that the teacher has send the picture
to him when they have met outside the school on some occasion.

PERSON-CENTRED CARE
 Person-centred care is important as it care is
provided to people as per their desires, value and lifestyles
so that they can be easily cure or life better lifestyles.
 Vulnerable people get maximum benefits form person-
centred care as care provided while delivering its services
focused on needs of individual (Barnett, 2018).
 Therefore, person- centred care helps in understanding
type of communication, techniques and method need to be
used while delivering care services to individual.

EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION
SKILLS THAT CAN IMPROVE
CARE Communication is process of exchange of information, views, ideas and though from one
individual to another for specific purpose.
 It not only improve care services but also contribute in creating healthy and safe environment
where each member transparently and sincerely communicate with each others.

SAFEGUARDING FOR
VULNERABLE ADULTS
 Safeguarding for vulnerable adults can be
stated that several steps that are taken by
healthcare provider to reduce or prevent various
associated right that can harm an vulnerable
adults. For example: abuse or being neglected.
 So it is process of ensuring that vulnerable adults
are provided safe and healthy atmosphere so that
no harm can be caused to them in any
circumstances.
 Therefore, it can be interpreted that the main aim
of safeguarding is to keep individual safe and
protect from being abused (Granger and et.al.,
2020).

EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION
 Effective communication is not juts about sharing of
information from one person to another but also involved
understanding of emotions, intention being the share message.
Thereby effective communication involve clear convey of
message, better listening of what has being said by others.
 Listening: It is an important element of communication related
to providing care to patient as it involves giving him attention and
acknowledging any emotional signs in their history without
judging them. Thus, listening encourage patient to share
its felling or express its fear and depression so that better
treatment can be provided to patient.

SAFEGUARDING
 Providers of health and social care services ensure that it should provide
people safe working environment or place for their better well-being.
There are key principles of safeguarding such as empowerment,
prevention, protection, proportionality, partnership and accountability.
Likewise:
 Empowerment: It states that all individual needs to be provided proper
support and encourage to share their views or informed consent need to
be taken by patient while taking any decision.
 Prevention: Moreover, it can be stated that prevention is always better
than cure, so healthcare needs to take all action before any harm can
occur to individual (Kazemi and Kajonius, 2021).
 Proportionality: The caretaker must have take appropriate action in
respond to associated risk so that less harm can be caused to any person.
