INTRODUCTION
Information technology is defined as process of managing data as well as information by
using computer system and software. It is the process of collecting, storing, processing and
distribution of information in form of text, voice, numerical and picture information. Information
technology is essential requirement to survive and success. The present report is based on “Aviva
insurance” which is the one leading general insurance and pensions provider company. The
report will identify the role of IT in success or failure of organization. The present study is
identified ethical and social issues. it will show difference between networking technologies.
This is discussed the values of internet and intranet for a company. It will also explain the
different stage of SDLC.
LITERATURE REVIEW
Theme 1: Identifying role of IT in success and failure.
Information technology is used to store, manipulate, create and distribute information to
others. The role of IT in Aviva insurance is to design, support organization's infrastructure. It
allows leveraging both information as well as technology in an efficient, productive and secure
manner. According to the Thomas, George and Rose, (2016), role of IT is to keep records and
manage data in proper manner for success of company. Insurance company operates many
branches in the specific areas, but use of information technology to centralize all information on
all these branches. That makes it easier for running and access information and knowledge both
by the insurance company employees and its customers.
On the other side Crisp, Taggart and Nora, (2015), stated that, lack of technical
knowledge is the reason of failure and this lead to commitment of more cybercrime in market.
Most of the time, new workers are not aware with central software and computer systems which
is used by company. Through that important information have a chance of getting leaked which
is not good for company and its customers. This can be a reason for company’s failure, because
due to this customer and insurance company face various problems which are created by hackers.
